    Pauls Appliance Repairs
Excellent! Paul knew immediately what the problem was, explained everything he was going to replace and showed me the parts he replaced so that I could see why they needed to be replaced. He also had the parts in his truck so it did not require a return trip. The price was very reasonable. I will definitely call him again!

The technician/owner, Mark replaced the motor in the dryer and the drainage unit for the refrigerator. In addition he replaced my ice maker. (I had already ordered that unit from Amazon but was reluctant to replace it myself). It turns out Whirlpool/Maytag knew of the problem with the refrigerator and parts were available free of charge, so I only had to pay for labor. The manufacturer never notified the owners of the problem with the defrost system. The problem was sneaky and the leak got under my floating floor. It will need to replace the area in front of the refrigerator. All along I thought the problem was related to the ice maker. I am annoyed that Whirlpool did not notify me. Why bother to register the purchase if they don't use the information. The dryer was a quick repair. I am happy that Mark had the dryer motor on his truck and that every thing is up and running. The dryer is an older model so it is less complicated than the newer units and replacing the motor was less than half the price of a new unit and I could use it today!

Mike arrived as scheduled and was polite and courteous. He replaced a shattered oven door and fixed the oven light. He fixed a bottom-freezer that was leaking water. Finally, he removed and installed a new over-the-range microwave. He was very professional and all appliances are running smoothly. I'm very satisfied with the work and would hire him again.

    Colonie Appliance Repair

Colonie Appliance was excellent in scheduling an appointment and actually called back  to see if they could do it sooner due to a cancellation.  The appointment was given for a two hour window and the representative showed up right at the start of the window.

The repairman was professional and explained all aspects of the job.  He showed us the defective part and was thoroughly familiar with the design problem.  He was very pleasant to deal with.  He did a complete job ensuring that the ice was completely removed prior to starting the actual repair.  He also suggested that the icemaker not be reinstalled as we weren't using it and leaving it out would increase storage space.  He showed us how to easily reinstall it if we had a need to and showed us how to remove a front cover for easier cleaning under the refrigerator.

The price seemed reasonable for a service call although we felt Whirlpool could have contributed more to the cost as it is definitely a design issue and the refrigerator was one month beyond their covered period.  This has nothing to do with Colonie Appliance and their service was excellent.

    Mohawk Heating Co Inc
I was disappointed that the coil failed on a 3 year old furnace.  Also, BE AWARE that Mohawk heating will no longer sell parts to it's customers.  My furnace igniter needs to be replaced every year on the Lennox furnace that Mohawk installed.  Recently, I have been able to change the igniter myself but now Mohawk will no longer sell me a new igniter.  They did offer to make a service call and replace it for me...

    Campbell's Appliance Service
Contacted Campbell's via email. Choice is based on prior good experiences with the company. Arrangements are made for the following day. Senior Technician Wayne arrives on time, following a promised thirty minute phone call alerting us to his arrival time (service is scheduled within a three window). The problem is quickly diagnosed as a clogged pump. Options and prices are discussed before any work begins (clogged pump is one price, a defective pump is another). The washer is disassembled, the pump located, and the clog is cleared. The washer is tested and the problem appears to be solved (if not, there is a ninety day guarantee on the work). The washer is reassembled and the area is cleaned up.

Our dishwasher started making a noise like a motor was binding up -- something is preventing it from turning. We call A to Z Appliance repair based largely on Angies List ratings as well as the fact they were not far away. A voice mail message is left.
Mike returns the call later that day. Based on my description, as well as his prior experience, he diagnoses the problem to be a failed pump motor. Because it is after hours, Mike says he will get a price for the part and get back to me the next day. He does. The part is much more expensive than he thought it would be. Mike's recommendation is that we NOT perform the repair, rather we should purchase a new dishwasher, the metric being, if a repair costs 50% or more of what what a new appliance would cost, it is usually better to buy the new appliance (according to Consumer Reports). We certainly appreciate Mike's honestly and, given other circumstances we would probably follow his advice. However, our situation is such that actually doing the repair is best for us. The next day, Mike picks up the part, arrives at the agreed-upon time and installs the new pump.
There is quite a bit of rust on the top of the old pump (probably the cause of the motor and quot;binding upand quot;) and the mystery is what is causing that? When testing the installation, Mike finds a small leak caused by a small hole in the floor of the dishwasher. The hole is probably caused by a metal utensil falling out of the rack, leaning against the heating element used for drying, and, during the drying process, produces just enough heat to melt a (very) small hole. Once found, the hole is easily repaired.
All is good. We are very happy with A to Z Appliance Repair.

He was great! It took some time to get the machine to make the noise I was worried about but he was very patient and explained what was wrong and what needed to be done. After that the repair was done well and quickly. The area was left clean and tidy.
I would definitely call Colonie Appliance Service if another appliance breaks down.

    J P Used Appliance Warehouse
He was so great. He helped me find the lowest cost appliances. They were delivered on time and they set everything up for my tenants. He was really really sweet. I requested my receipt by fax. He followed up with me making sure I received my receipt.

Our GE washer was broken (stopping after about six minutes into the cycle). He tried several times to repair it but nothing was working. He even sought the advice of a third party who was more familiar with our particular appliance, and eventually referred us directly to that third party that was able to get it functioning. Although he was unable to repair it himself, he was honest and straightforward, and did not even charge us for the time spent trying to repair the unit.
