    Brushworks of Rye Inc

Brushworks were amazing!  Bob the owner is a consummate professional. He had the difficult

job of painting a bedroom and an office/spare bedroom that had not been painted in over 20

years. There was a ton of prep work and he took it on in stride. He even helped in picking out the

colors to go with the furniture and light exposures in the room. The job was completed on time

and at the quoted price. He even fixed a broken pane of glass. I would definitely recommend Bob

and Brushworks, you will not be disappointed.

    Window Solutions Plus
Our home is an older home built in the early 1950's and we needed to replace almost all of the original double-hung windows. We wanted to find a replacement window that was high quality but not overly expensive.  I contacted Window Solutions Plus and received a quick response from John, the business manager.  I called him on a Monday and  we set up a meeting for later that week.  He was very flexible and made sure he found a workable time within my schedule.

John is very knowledgeable and was very thorough when going over their window selection.  We spent some time discussing our budget and goals, and he brought different window samples with him to show us what our options were.  They offer a range of products and we selected higher end Harvey vinyl windows.

John was very responsive in answering our questions thoroughly and quickly.  He was clear about the timeline for the project, from measuring and ordering to the estimated installation date (mid-June).  The windows arrived ahead of schedule and John found time to fit our project into their schedule earlier than expected (last week of May).  They started on a Wednesday and finished on a Friday.  John and Greg arrived with their crew at 7:30am every day as expected. They were very neat, making sure to clean up at the end of the day, stowing any equipment out of the way.  They finished the installation completely before leaving on Friday, staying past 6:30pm to make sure everything was caulked and sealed before they left.

John and Greg are courteous and professional. The new windows look great and their pricing is competitive.  The excellent customer service and high quality product line makes them a terrific value.  I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to replace their Windows.

    Old World Craftsmen LLC
We found Old World Craftsmen on Angie's List when looking for a good local contractor, and were immediately impressed with the excellent reviews by previous clients.  When we started, Scott came over to the house to advise us on the multiple renovations we had in mind, and gave us a lot of smart practical advice - in fact, he counseled us not to over-do the job and saved us from overspending to achieve our goals.  He brought together an excellent team of sub-contractors who undertook a range of work, including carpentry, plumbing, marble restoration, laying a tile floor on an uneven concrete surface, removing hard-to-remove wallpaper, replacing a custom wrought iron railing, and repainting some interior walls that required careful prep work.   His team of subcontractors was reliable, hard-working, easy to communicate with, and spent the time to do the work right. Their pricing was fair; we had priced out one of the jobs separately (the crafting of a new wrought iron railing for an outdoor entrance) and his person charged significantly less than what we'd been quoted by another firm.    We ended up expanding the scope of the job to include the replacement of several original casement windows with new custom-sized Marvin windows, and Scott coordinated the installation of those so that all went seamlessly and on schedule.  We'd feared this would create a big mess, but the install was done primarily from the outside, and the interior stucco walls and related carpentry and painting repairs were accomplished with little fuss.  Scott was hands-on throughout, and came by frequently to check on progress and monitor needs. His training as a structural engineer came in handy, as he was able to point out and address certain things that needed to be modified to keep an older home in compliance with plumbing codes and other local regulations.  We are delighted with the improvements throughout out house.  We will certainly call on and refer Old World Craftsmen in the future!

    New York Carpentry

We originally hired New York Carpentry as part of an Angie?s List ?Big Deal? to rehang a set of uneven French doors in the dining room and to replace the casing around the doors. We had recently installed new baseboards as part of a flooring update, but unfortunately the new baseboards put the worn, yellowed original doors and door casing to shame! In addition, the profile of the new baseboards and shoe molding meant that the meeting point between baseboard and door casing looked slightly absurd.

Flavio, the owner, was quick to identify a plinth and casing combination which would match perfectly with the depth of the baseboard and shoe, while also looking more substantial and attractive than the casing that was already there. We were so happy with the work that was done on the dining room doors we asked Flavio to come back and replace all the doors in the house and match the casing and plinth arrangement he had designed for the dining room. We also asked that the casing around the windows be replaced to match that around the doors.

Flavio put us in touch with a contact of his at a lumber yard so we could order the doors we wanted. We were able to replace 20 existing hollow core doors with flat panel solid doors for a very reasonable price.

Once the doors arrived, Flavio ordered the plinth and casing material and got to work with his coworker Toni to replace almost every door in the house. We ordered the doors as simple slabs (i.e. not pre-hung) and Flavio hung them perfectly, routing them for hinges and door handles and installing all hardware. In addition, while replacing the casing, Flavio took the opportunity to spray foam insulation around all exterior doors and windows.

Each night, Flavio and Toni left the house neat and tidy and were careful to minimize the dust generated as part of their work. Much of the cutting, routing and planing work was done in the garage and we were still able to fit our car in each night, as Flavio and Toni kept everything well organized. At the end of the job, Flavio and Toni removed all of the debris generated.

The price quoted was the price we paid, despite the usual small extras that pop up from time to time on a job like this. The cost for materials was paid separately and all receipts were provided so everything was transparent.

We couldn?t be happier with the job Flavio has done. He is meticulous and believes that if a job is worth doing it is worth doing properly. More than that, he is a great guy to deal with. He?s punctual, honest and straightforward with a good sense of humor. It was easy to discuss different parts of the project with him as we went along.

The new casing and doors are now in the process of being painted and look wonderful. It looks like a new house! We would happily recommend New York Carpentry to anyone and will certainly use them for our next carpentry project.

    Old World Craftsmen LLC
Other than the surprises that old houses bring--no fault of the contractor--it was perfect.  The work is beautiful and Scott has an especially good sense of aesthetics; he made great suggestions on how to improve this or that along the way.  I inadvertently caused a delay by approving back-ordered plumbing fixtures, but excluding this, the project was completed in five weeks.

    CHAMPION HOME REMODELING
Danny, the owner, was in frequent contact with me and did an excellent job supervising the project. He showed he cared a lot about our satisfaction and he was a pleasure to work with. His people were fully professional in their various skills and cleaned up their debris every night, and they were also friendly and pleasant to have around. It's a fine company and I would certainly recommend them and would definitely use them in the future for any sort of remodeling or substantial repair/rebuilding such as we had.

    Artizon Construction LLC
All the work was professional and well done. Actually able to move back into that part of the house ahead of schedule. Workers were courteous. No downtime waiting for subs  so work was continuous and well planned .
Would definitely recommend and would use again, although I hope it's not for hurricane damage.

    Major Homes Corp
I got the recomendation from Angie's list, called and within a week Bob was at our door.  He explained the different systems of windows and gutters and their merits and short falls.  His suggestion was not the most expensive possibility.  We ordered the windows and they were installed within the month.  The whole process went very smoothly.

    Franzoso Contracting
I am still looking for estimates. Their positives were that they were responsive and that they were thorough in their explanation of what they would do and how they would do it. They gave me the first to give me a quote and I am still in the process of getting quotes from other companies. So, it is a little early for me to comment on the quote, but it did seem a little high to me. They came out and gave me an estimate. I would consider them in the future.
