Old World Craftsmen of NY LLC
Scott and his crew at Old World Craftsmen were excellent to work with - They were on time, responsive, and professional, and they produced superior results. We're excited to work with them again on the next phase of our project.

    Emerson Construction
Lesson learned! Emerson completed our project well and on time, but the communication lapses, surprise charges for underestimating the workload, and aggravation made this a very unpleasant experience. We had a small last minute project and Emerson was available on a short time frame. Due to the timing and the small, seemingly straight forward nature of the project, we did not formally write up a detailed description of the project or sign a contract. I've done this before with other trades and never had a problem, but after this experience, I will never again complete any work on my home without a detailed written plan and contract. Throughout the project, "that's not included" was the continual refrain. Several times he seemed shocked that I did not have specific materials ready waiting for him even though I paid him in advance for materials and there was no mention of materials I would need to buy personally. Several times, details discussed were not followed, and had to be redone, which resulted in extra charges for "extra work." In the end, we paid 25% over the agreed price even though the scope of the project did not change and "extra work" was a failure to follow directions. Attempts to discusse the differences were illogical and circular, so attempting a compromise was a frustrating waste of time. The additional money was a relatively small sum and well worth ending the project, but a very short sighted business decision. I have never written a review like this, however, out of principal, I am compelled to share my experience. Learn from my mistake and always have a very detailed written contract with anyone you hire to work on your home!

    Tappan Z Home Improvement
The work Jose and his team at Tappan Z Home Improvement did exceeded my expectations. This was a total gut renovation and we are thrilled with the result. Not only did they pay attention to every detail and come in on budget but they showed up everyday on time and left the place clean at the end of the day. I am a real estate agent in Westchester and am often asked for contractor recommendations. Without hesitation I recommend Tappan Z Home Improvement.

    Jireh Handyman LLC
It was great. Rufino and his team were very professional and they made sure to complete the project within the budget and tight timeline. The team paid great attention to detail to little things in the bathroom and made every attempt to accommodate to our personal preferences and needs. I would definitely recommend them for any home improvement projects.

Old World Craftsmen of NY LLC
My Interior Design company, True Identity Concepts, has worked with Scott of Old World Craftsmen on several projects to-date. Their skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail of a home renovation is always guided in a collaborative team effort to bring my interior home designs to life. Scott personally oversees the projects, organizes the flow with ease, and fine tunes the smallest of details - which separates them from other firms. There are a lot of people involved in a project. Scott's clear communications between the client, interior designer, and tradesmen is a talent that can be relied upon. The result - a beautifully finished project and clients who are thrilled with their new space(s)!

    Citywide Home Improvements.LLC
My experience with the business was disappointing. The work was done less than a year ago and although upon completion things seemed Ok, I am seeing that the quality of the work done was less that professional. Bathroom: my tub sustained chips, one cement board went up warped and left the shower surround out of square, the accent tile was laid improperly with same color tiles in a row one after another at the edge so the stagger is not staggered, my mirror is not centered on the vanity, my cabinet is not centered on the wall above the toilet, the glue has shown through the grout, the caulk continues to crack and started to mold, the paint needed another coat since I can see the white primer beneath, didn't finish the baseboard under the vanity, grout was not sealed and I had to clean up film from the tiles. Inaccurate amount of bullnose was ordered but I had enough tiles left to not need it. Plumber fell through and I had to find one myself. I should have backed out when he discouraged me from getting the staggered glass and stone pencil accent tile. He was flexible and accommodating but the work was just not as professional as I thought it should be. Kitchen: was a demo to prep for IKEA install and he also did floor tiles. Patching the walls was ok but once primer went on, there were so many air bubbles from the walls being improperly cleaned that I had to fix it and reprime, definitely not ready to paint when he left. It still has bubble holes. Replaced the duct vent cover with a vent cover that I can not close like the old one. Instead of using similar baseboards he told me it was no longer made and used pine planks which look ok but...Home Depot did have the same baseboard so now I need to deal with that later. The floor, nightmare! His worker did not pour the leveling agent but instead used a hand held spreader. My kitchen is 8x8 and between the edge and center it is off by at least half an inch. My appliance all sit lopsided. The grout wasn't properly sealed. Grout lines are larger than I wanted. The glue effects how the grout seals because it wasn't removed in the grout lines well enough. The tiles have air pockets everywhere. Yes, my cat stepped on it in a few places but not enough to cause air pockets all over the floor. He blamed it on bad tiles...if the tiles were bad, he should have identified that prior to install. He overall explained away issues by blaming on the building or the unit being out of square or settled but a professional compensates accordingly and uses techniques so it at least looks square to the eye. Every time I look at my fridge I am annoyed because it is almost an inch off top to bottom in its lean. The icing on the cake was when his worker put the table saw on my range top and put a dent in it. Mario denied it saying it never was on the range but he was not there during the day to see it. My spouse and I both saw it on the range top and when Mario blamed it on a heavy pot of water being placed on the range top I just let it go. He did a linen closet for me as well and eventually I will redo it. He said he'd install peg board but installed wood paneling instead, without removing the baseboard first so it has an unfinished look. The holes in the drywall were supposed to be repaired and they were not, he just covered it with the wood panels. He cut out my heat relay and the heat was out during a weekend in winter. Luckily it was a mild winter but a good business man would have taken the time to correct the issue when informed, so his customer would not go without heat for three days. Don't go by the photos you see. My background includes the ability to do some of the work he performed, so I know what the end product should have looked like. I just don't have the tools or time to do it myself. Relying on a professional to get the job done... made me want to get my own license and be a better leader to ensure customers get an end product that is truly professional and not just good enough for now.

    MORIA DRYWALL
Provider was exceptionally professional in every aspect of the job. Most of all, his finished product made the walls look like nothing ever happened to them!! He was punctual and most of all very clean.  I would most highly recommend him to anyone who needs drywall work.

Palette Pro Painting & Renovation Inc.
Although his was not the lowest bid, the presentation that Rafael gave convinced us that his would be the best quality.  He addressed each of the multitude of problems our job presented.  There was a large wall that, after I removed paneling, I discovered old wallpaper and a bulge in the wall which had been disguised with furring strips under the panels.  This wall required removal of the paper and skim coating.  It is now perfect.  Two other walls required skim coating.  There were a number of cracks and a multitude of nail pops all of which were expertly corrected.
Our bathtub looks new.  I know that the refinishing process produces fumes.  All fumes were ventilated to the outside and nothing was noticeable  indoors.
Our two painters, Alberto and Rubin, came exactly on time, worked very hard, and could not possibly
have been more polite and pleasant.
If you want a job that will leave the painted areas looking better than new construction, this is the painting firm to choose.

Two very different projects performed by the same handyman.  Both done extremely well.  We were very pleased with his services.  Prices came in on budget and he performed services on time.
