  • George is always amazing. Such integrity. Goes over all the work. He got us a great boiler and installed it up off the floor as my Mum was worried about water in the basement (we don't get any but you know how it is). George got the boiler in a couple of days and he and his son installed it in a day. He also instructed us how to switch the system off when we go away, as well as how to turn the hot water heater off. (George installed that for us 3 years ago). As for the sink, he looked at the current setup and told us we'd lose space we can't afford to lose, if we installed a different sink. The bathroom is REALLY tiny. He recommended we get someone to simply replace the counter that the sink sits on, as it's worn. George and his son are a great team. They are honest, hard-working, clean up after themselves, answer your questions and won't do work they deem unnecessary. We'd use them again in a heartbeat and recommend them to anyone!!!!

  • Vinnie has been servicing my boiler ever since he did the conversion of oil to gas for me. He was recommended by the manufacture (Energy Kinetics) as one of only 2 people doing this type of work on Longs Island NY at the time (4 years ago). I find him to be honest and reliable. There have been a couple of occasions that he has troubled shoot my boiler problems over the phone, and has given me basic instructions on how to reboot it and get it going if possible until he can come to check it out and fix it necessary. I am very pleased with the service I get from Vinnie and highly recommend him. This last time I called him for service, I had a faulty water pressure valve and the yearly maintenance check up for the winter season

  • Another heating and air conditioner company had installed the thermostat. I did not want to go back to them. Stanley Gelber had to spend time to familiarize themselves with the unit, which they did not install. They did not charge me for the time used to do this. They did an excellent job and their charge was very reasonable.

  • Everyone at Stanley Gelber was terrific.  The process took some time because we had to wait for National Grid to put in the gas line, but everything was taken care of for us and we were kept informed every step of the way.  Stanley Gelber's staff were very responsive and didn't quit until every aspect of our system was working perfectly.  We had already used them for our AC and have been very happy with their quality and service.  I especially love working with a family owned company.

  • My ancient (20+ years) Friedrich in-wall air conditioner stopped blowing cold air on a Saturday. I figured I might need to get rid of it, but I thought it might be worth finding out if it was something simple that needed to be fixed. Since these in-wall units are not as popular these days, I knew it might be hard to find someone to take a look at it, especially on short notice in the summer. I called a couple of places with no luck, then found this place on Angie's list. I was happy to see other reviewers make mention of having in-wall air conditioners as well so I called. Although it was late Saturday afternoon, Harriet answered the phone and was pleasant to deal with. She let me know that there is a $70 service call plus repair. That seemed the going rate. I knew they also sold and installed air conditioners as well, including the newer Friedrichs, so that was a plus. They were able to schedule me for Tues, which was sooner then I thought. When I called Tues morning, as directed, they gave me a reasonable window of when to expect them. The repair person came and advised us that it was the compressor, which he could fix, but especially given the unit's age it might not last  too long. He also advised us about the type and cost of current units they sold. Fortunately, my husband had been to 2 stores the day before and had an idea of how much these units cost, and what the usual charges are to install.  Prime's prices were not only in the same ballpark, but they could install it today! That was a much better situation than the appliance stores! Within hours, a different team came with a modern in-wall unit, removed the old (and rusted!) A/C, and installed it neatly. The whole process was as smooth as I could have imagined.
    I had confidence that this company would be good, given the positive reviews on Angie's list, and they truly WERE  a pleasure to deal with.

    Update;
    I just wanted to add that the company contacted me in the Fall to ask if we wanted to purchase a custom cover for the A/C. They were able to come when I wasn't home and install the cover. Again, an easy and pleasant transaction. Highly recommended.

  • First called Deep Freeze because of great Angie's List reviews and was very disappointed with his prices. Then remembered that Tom at After Six had put in the A/C outside unit several years back. Called to see if he was still in business.  He was and came right over. Quoted me half of what Tony of Deep Freeze quoted me. Tom put a new unit in without drama or fuss. He's the very definition of honest. Highly recommended.

  • They were the only people who would come out the same day to fix our heating. Everybody else we called gave us appointments for Monday & Tuesday. Rob got the job done. He was polite, fast, & sounded like he new what he was talking about. Thanks for coming out on a Friday night to give us heat!

  • Called late morning, and received a call back within 5 minutes from the plumber.? He showed up within a few hours and repaired my boiler.? He was very professional, courteous and?clean. Would definitely use them again

  • The inspection process left the condition of the ductwork worse than before the inspection was done. High temp tape was removed from duct joints and not replaced. Horizontal duct from furnace was reinstalled askew. Two sheet metal screws were left on basement floor instead of being reinstalled to secure duct joints. Integrity of  flue connection through the basement wall is compromised due to loosening of cement surrounding wall opening. Heating system was turned off to perform inspection and not turned back on.
    Good points: I was assured all was in order and no attempt was made to persuade me to add add'l costs or services, such as cleaning the fireplace chimney flue. It was also good to learn that the furnace flue had a stainless lining and, since the system was gas, no inspections would ever be needed. When I called to inquire about non-replacement of the high temp tape, the technician told me none was necessary, and the breach of the cement  seal should be of no concern since no CO should leak out.
    I would not use Ageless again because the system was left in a sloppy condition after the inspection. Ageless offered to correct it for the cost of an additional house call (3 times the cost of the inspection). Consequently, I bought high temp tape, took the ductwork apart, and reinstalled the pieces includng the replacement of all sheet metal screws, conforming the system to its prior condition.
    No complaints about the substance of the work performed. Putting the system back together was just unacceptably sloppy.
