  • Thomas and his team did a tremendous job: they came on Friday morning, gave us an estimate by Friday afternoon and started the job on Monday. They are licensed and insured and made sure to get the job done well and fast. Price was definitely reasonable and I would recommend hiring him for all of your roofing and troubleshooting needs. Thomas' crew made sure that all the old material was collected and that everything was left in perfect condition: they also proactively ensured that my neighbor knew they would clean up any material that would fall in her yard while working on our roof. She texted me letting me know how appreciative she was was of them contacting her and cleaning up. Excellent service overall.

  • Ryan asked me to send pictures, I did. Then he went to the house and said he’ll send me a quote. I never heard back from him I followed up again and again and again. I reconfirmed that they had my correct email address, and still never heard back. I’m not sure what happened nor why they couldn’t just tell me, “were not interested in doing the job”

  • Jack and his staff were a pleasure to work with. As an out of state investor he put my mind at ease by sending pictures of the work and always being available. And his price was better than anyone else. Very professional.

  • Charles Stewart and his son in law Bill and his two helpers arived one hour ahead of schedule which was just fine by me. Upon arriving they assessed the situation, quoted me a price which I agreed to and they began to professionally go about the task at hand. When they were through they thoroughly cleaned up around my property.I would highly recommend Charles Stewart Roofing for all your roofing needs.

  • I have been meaning to write this review for some weeks now and will provide as much detail as possible but suffice it to say, I will never again use anyone but Mike and A&M Building. We have owned our home for more than 28 years and believe me when I say we have been through our fair share of contractors but in all this time we had yet to come across someone who did exactly what they said they would do, for the price they said they would do it, and who was as easy and pleasant to work with as Mike. A&M did all these things and more.

It had been about 15 years since our last big job and the house was starting to look a little worn out. Once we decided it was time to do the work we reached out to some local companies we knew of in the area. We also contacted A&M at the recommendation of a friend who lives around the block who used Mike for a similar job and highly recommended him. What stood out most for them (and ultimately for us) was that company owner, Mike, was on the job each and every day working. It may not sound like much but every other contractor we have worked with (besides maybe a handyman who did a small odd job) have met with us, given us the estimate, took our money, and then once the work started we barely saw them again, if at all. Mike on the other hand was there the whole time, not just making sure everything got done right, but actually doing the work with his crew. Mike gave us a written estimate, that included a price for both labor and materials. He explained to us how he works, his payment policy (or really what moneys were due when) and talked to us about options (less expensive siding options, alternatives, etc.). While we did receive a slightly lower quote from one other company, Mike's quote seemed fair and was in line or lower than the others we received. All in all the difference in price was nominal and was not the sole factor driving our decision - what it really came down to was that Mike came highly recommended (which is also what prompted me to spread the word about him) and that he seemed like a genuine, nice person who really loved what he does and took pride in his work.

Once the work was under way, Mike showed up on time every single day and worked straight through. I never came out to find anyone lazing around or not on the job (though I know everyone needs a break!). With the exception of lunch and runs for materials, Mike and the A&M crew were there working exactly when and how they were supposed to be. They also took the time to clean the area of any debris at the end of each day making the whole process pretty noninvasive from a homeowner standpoint.

While all of the above (being nice, showing up on time, quoting a fair price, etc.) is definitely important, let's face it, if the work itself isn't up to par none of that really matters in the end. Thankfully, Mike's work was meticulous and the job was done perfectly. My husband and I are sticklers for cut corners and shoddy work and there was absolutely none of that. Mike took pride in his work, did the job right, and we ended up with what looks like a completely new house! It is a pleasure to pull into our driveway each day and we are grateful to A&M for the work they did.

I will absolutely be using A&M Building and Remodeling again (I already have my eye on my master bath which could use a facelift) - I really could not imagine working with another contractor. Mike, if you're reading this, THANK YOU!

  • Thank you for the excellent job that you and your company did installing my new roof, siding and windows. I were very impressed with the professionalism displayed by yourself and every person who worked on my home. I want to commend you for taking on the challenges of my project with an open mind and a willingness  to try new materials and methods like the Hardie Board and Batten installation. I felt very comfortable throughout the whole process as you made yourself available any time I had a question. You were willing to listen to my ideas and comments and then offer you advice base on your construction experience. The finished product displays quality craftsmanship and an attention to detail that is a joy to behold.
I will enthusiastically recommend the All Professional Remodeling Group team, and I fully expect to be working with you again when the time comes to tackle the big project on my house.
You men seemed proud of their craft and results!!
    Thanks.

  • Our first contact with The Gutter Guy was with their Office Manager, Elaine. She set up an appointment for the owner, Gary Zarza, to come to my house and scope out the job. Gary showed up at the appointed time and measured, diagramed and photographed the prospective job. He is a very nice person. He explained the options for five or six inch gutters and rectangular or round leaders. Gary also explained that they use top grade Aluminum in the thickest gauge available. Their gutters are all seamless. I asked Gary about the difference between 5" and 6" gutters along with a bunch of other questions. Gary patiently answered all of my questions and recommended options for placement of the leaders to disguise their presence as much as possible. Previously the house was sided with white vinyl and it had 5" gutters and the common rectangular leaders. In the remodel we are going to a Cypress colored shingle and we are using a ton of Certainteed Vinyl "Restoration Millwork" (all very pricey) so the last thing I wanted to do was end up with common pedestrian gutters. Gary explained that from an esthetic point of view, the 6" gutters would look the best because they would fill the entire 6" facia. He also explained that the 6" gutters would be more efficient in removing the largest quantities of rain water and even minor debris so they were the best option from a practical standpoint. Finally, Gary suggested that round leaders would enhance the old fashioned look that our remodel was attempting to capture. When we were done, Gary said that they would provide a proposal that would contain several options: (1) 5" gutters with 2" x 3" rectangular leaders (what we had on the house from our 1991 remodel); (2) 6" gutters with oversized 3"x 4" rectangular leaders; and (3) 6" gutters with 4" round smooth leaders. All options were in White. We opted for the third option which was approximately $600 more expensive than option #1. After the proposal was selected, signed and returned, Elaine advised us to call to schedule installation about a week before the house was ready for the gutter installation. We did so and a two week window for the installation was created. Two days before The Gutter Guy was ready to perform the installation, we received a call from Elaine who advised when Gary's crew would show up. At the appointed time on the appointed day (8/6/14) Gary's two man crew showed up and installed the 6" gutters and round 4" leaders. The installation took about four hours from beginning to completion. Gary's crew handled the clean up and they were neat as a pin in expertly fabricating and installing the seamless 6" gutters. They made some adjustments in placing some of the leaders to account for prospective placement of security cameras. All of the white round leaders were placed against the white Certainteed vinyl 6" Super Corners. Gutters and leaders were installed using hidden brackets. The best part: THE INSTALLATION LOOKS FABULOUS !!!!!!!!! I actually stood in front of my house admiring the look of the gutters and leaders for more than a half hour. The installation looks architecturally impressive and substantial and also totally natural at the same time. The leaders are virtually masked by their placement against the white vinyl Super Corners. My wife and I are so happy that we opted for the 6" gutters and the round 4" leaders. The higher cost is money well spent . In fact, I believe this enhances the value of our house. The Gutter Guy (Gary Zarza, Elaine and the two man crew that handled the installation) was an absolute pleasure to work with and I will, without reservation, recommend their service to my friends and neighbors. The Gutter Guy more than lived up to its well deserved Angie's List reputation. I can't wait for it to rain !!!

  • A team of 15-20 workers arrived at 8 a.m. They immediately went to work setting up the scaffolding, removing the old siding and preparing the house for the job. They also removed an old air conditioner from a back window before they they capped it.. When they had questions they called me outside and spoke to me about it and made sure they kept me informed about the job. They worked diligently througout the day and were pretty much done by 7:30 p.m. They removed all the old siding, capping and debris and cleaned up the entire work area. Jeff stopped by during the day to check on how the job was going and told me to please call him if I had any questions or issues. Everyone was very attentive and pleasant. I will recommend Jand B to my friends and family. They are the best!
    .
P.S. Before the siding was done I had casement windows installed in the front of the house. Jand B did NOT do the window installation A couple of weeks later, after a rainstrom, I noticed that the sill on the front window had water pooling on it. I called Jeff and told him about the problem. He said it was probably because the sill was not pitched correctly. He sent one of his workers over to take care of it. When he arrived he told me that he had to remove the capping that Jand B and the window installer had put on the sill so he could fix it. When he removed the capping he found that the wood underneath the capping was totally rotted out. The wood was supposed to be replaced by the window installer. Jeff had his worker remove the rotted wood and replace it with new wood and insulation and recap the sill. Now that the job is done right there is no more pooling.
I want to send Jeff and his workers a big thank you.

  • It was devine intervention that days after the storm the president of Homes and Beyond was given the wrong address to provide an estimate for a basement remediatioon job in my Rockaway neighborhood. When he knocked on my door, we struck up a conversation. I showed him my basement. He was reluctant to take a downpayment from me because I had never met him before, had no references for him, and he didn't want to spook me. Nevertheless, I had a good feeling. I gave him a deposit which he said he would not cash until I had checked out a few references. I went to the homes where he was in the process of doing work, made a few calls, and liked what I heard. He did an excellent job on the basement gutting and remediation. I then hired him to do the outdoor repairs from falling trees and to do the one floor (including new base molding, sheetrock, insulation and painting) inside my house that had water damage. He is currently in the process of renovating my basement, which includes walls (framing, sheetrocking and some cement skim-coating) floor, ceiling, insulation, etc. All of his workers must be given some kind of orientation because they are all super considerate, very neat, etc. I have no complaints and would certainly recommend Homes and Beyond.

  • Came to review the extent of damage to my roof, gave a very good quote and kept to that price. Arrived on time, replaced all the missing tiles and replaced the chimney and lid. Was very knowledgeable, courteous, and punctual.
