What they installed absolutely failed to do the job. The rather expensive cameras have a 30-second built-in delay before they could take a picture,. The net result was we never even got a picture of the postman, let alone the people who broke into my Jeep twice. When I called for explanations I got wildly different opinions, but they all agreed that there was nothing they could do about the thirty-second delay recently, in the process of repairing our front door , I lost the tiny magnet that goes to the system. They informed me that it would cost $250 to replace it . The bottom line is that this system is very expensive and does a little other than telling me that I've opened the front one of my doors.

I can not sing the praises on DTN Security high enough. The security system on my house was installed when the house was built in 1977. I picked out the things that I wanted and had an electrician install them during construction. It was a 6 volt wired system that consisted among other things of under carpet detectors which eventually stopped working. In 1999, after attending a home show, I contacted Guardian Protection (home office Pittsburgh) to upgrade the system. They installed motion detectors, a heat sensor, a sensor that alerts if the temperature goes below 40 degrees and set things up so that if the system is set off, a phone call is made to a central station which calls me and if they can't get through, calls the police or fire dept. All went well until the back up battery stopped working and the system begin making beeping noises every few minutes. I called Guardian and they mailed out a new battery, but it was not the right one. Before sending it back, I goggled Security Systems and found DTN Security. As it turns out, I got Lililan, the wife of the owner. I asked her if they sold batteries, she said no, but gave me the name of a battery store on Jefferson that she thought would have it (which I thought was very nice since I was not a customer of hers) She also inquired about how much I was paying each month to have the system monitored, and when I told her the price, she said that she thought that she could beat it by about 1/3 and offered to send someone out who was familiar with "old systems" to check it out. I went ahead and bought the new battery, but thought why not have someone come out particularly since my 2 outdoor sirens were not working. She sent Tony out to inspect my system and after looking at all the components, they gave me a quote of $350 to install the new sirens and smoke detector and $284.47 per year to switch the monitoring of my system over to a local company here in Rochester. I decided to accept their offer and on May 24 Tony came over at about 10 AM, and very professionally and methodically, began to remove the old components and install the new ones. He also checked out all the wiring and made some changes to the system that now allows us to arm the perimeter, while disconnecting the motion detectors so we can move in the house with out setting off the system. Tony was here from about 10 AM until 5 PM and I cannot say enough about how pleased I was with what he did. What a "find" to have a technician who understands both 12 and 6 volt systems and can integrate them and make them work. Part of the installation was crawling under our deck in a very confined area to remove the old siren and install the new one. When he left at the end of the day, I asked him if I could stop by the office and pick up a new yard sign to replace the old Guardian sign. He said no need, he would drop one off the next time he was in the neighborhood, and sure enough about a week later, the new sign arrived. The bottom line is that I got a repaired and upgraded system (and given the cost of the materials and the time to install them I thought was a real bargain), and will be paying substantially lower monitoring costs each year, while supporting 2 local businesses.

Experts in the field of security! Incredible customer service!! They are a local company who answers the phone or returns messages promptly when you call. Owner was right on time for my initial estimate @ my house. Never made me feel pressured into buying anything and provided me with excellent reference material on the product I was looking at. Very knowledgeable with what I should have to protect my home and answered a ton of questions I had. Estimate was completed and sent to me the next day. Gave me an installation date & time and showed up right on time. Wore shoe covers to protect my carpets, went thru the entire process step by step w/me, very professional, neat & clean. The guys treated my home as if it was their own. Explained everything in great detail, company owner stopped by also for site visit while installation was starting. After install was complete, they took all the time I needed to understand everything before they left and stressed that if I had any questions at all, to give them a call anytime. Rarely do you see customer service like this anymore. I cannot say enough about how professional and customer oriented these guys are! Absolutely top notch!

It worked out very well.  I think there was a free installation.  I think their plan is whereby you sign up for a free installation and then you pay per month.  I will certainly recommend them.  I was very pleased with the installation and I’m pleased so far with the service.

I was concerned about home security where I live, and asked Donald Noga of DTN Security to come and insect my home to check for any vulnerabilities, to see if I might get a security system installed. The service was free, prompt, professional, and not only did I not get a "hard sell," Donald, who according to his website has been licensed as an electrician, pointed out weaknesses in the heating and electrical system, and even mentioned a few quick and easy non-technical things I could do to make my home safer.  We're still working out the details of a home installation, but I was really impressed by his evident knowledge and his practical suggestions on how to make my house safer. Impressed enough to want to share my experience.

After showing up on time, the providers removed old wiring from the house to the garage. The day before a trench had been dug from the garage to the house. On the 25th, new wire was encased and put in the trench and then hooked up to my circuit box. The old wiring in the garage was cleaned up. New lighting was installed as well as 20 amp service with two outlets and a GFI. The providers also fixed my doorbell, covered an old switch that was no longer useful and moved the touch pad for the house alarm system for my tenant to a more convenient location.
I was pleased that the gentleman from the company who came out originally to give me the estimate came out again to check on the progress of the trench and again on the 25th to check on the progress of the electricians.
Only two concerns, a floodlight was broken. It would have been nice if they had replaced it. And, I am going to have to have my yard rolled because  when the trench had been filled in, it is very uneven.  These concerns are the only reason I rated the professionalism as a B. I would not hesitate to use Magee Electric in the future.

There was no information on how to activate the two free months that came with the manual and I didn't even use it (in fact, when I set it up, I'm embarassed to say I FORGOT that I even was supposed to get 2 months; but I am disappointed that nobody had it on file or that the mailed package didn't have any information).
Price/Quality- This really is an excellent service. Extremely low cost compared to comparable designs and it works out really well. I plan to buy some of the add-ons (more monitors; smoke & CO detectors; etc.) and integrate them into my home protection. Also, the online interface has exactly the same features as other "intelligent home" security systems that cost up to 3-4x the amount. The absence of contract is also great. I believe I would be able to deactivate the system for a few months if that felt necessary.
Responsiveness- At first, it was difficult to set up the alarm with the company, who was hard to reach. It was difficult to diagnose the problem with my central base unit until I finally found the solution online.

I was very impressed with simplisafe. They are very inexpensive and the system is incredibly easy to install. I contacted customer service 3 times and each time I was able to get through to a real person without any delay. They were quick to work out any issues. The product and customer service cannot be beat. Highly recommend.

**We met Ed prior to closing on our home, and were immediately impressed with his attention to detail, technical knowledge, and responsiveness.  He became our trusted adviser, who we could rely on to give honest advice and fair pricing for a variety of household improvement projects for which we had little knowledge.  I appreciate that as busy professionals (medical resident and consultant who travels 100%), we could count on Ed to conduct the work with minimal direct daily oversight, and we could receive updates from him periodically about items he needs us to pick out.  Additionally, unlike several other contractors we interviewed, Ed directly completes 100% of the work that he sells rather than sitting in an office overseeing a crew.  Therefore he's invested and takes responsibility for the project from start to finish.  I can't recommend Ed highly enough for any number of household repair / construction needs. As a follow up to many other home renovation projects, Ed came out and installed our home security system and ran electrical wiring to our detached garage, in addition to installing new outlets (circuits) in several rooms.  Similar to the other projects, Ed's work was completed with high quality, on time, and on budget.

They were fantastic! I decided I needed a security system after someone broke my front window. I called around to several of the companies with "A" ratings on Angie's list for estimates as well as time frames for install. With all of the other companies I spoke with a sales rep.  At ADG the owner, Allen, talked to me about their services. He genuinely care why I wanted a system and took the time to understand my needs.  Because of a cancellation the company was even able to install the system the same day I called, giving me tremendous piece of mind.  The installers were very helpful and explained everything they were going to do before they did it and showed me everything after it was finished.  It turned out that their system was by far the best price, but I would have selected them even if that wasn't the case because of how responsive they were.  I strongly recommend them for anyone looking to install a home security system.
