    Another Fence Repair
Initially went well other than the guy is weird about playing music. When asked to turn it off, he refused to do so. Made for an awkward few days with neighbors and working from home. The gate was faulty and is inoperable. We had the work done in spring and were now into August with no repair. Theyve admired there was a mistake but refuse to get back to us or give us a date for a fix. Once the check is cashed, youre in b your own for any faulty construction. We are no face md with taking formal steps to get our gate repaired, possibly by another company. Were dismayed weve been treated like this after the amount of money we spent. Were so disappointed. Never again.

    Roman Fence
Called twice and left clear message each time expressing my interest in obtaining a quote. NEVER received a call back. I suspect business is good for them right now, but watch in a year or two this company will be out of business wondering why they have no customers. It starts AND ENDS with customer service - and this company has none!! Stay away.

This guy was sharp and to the point. If he wasn't price so high, I probably would have picked him instead of continuing with estimates.
He came on time for the estimate. Bam, bang, boom. Was done quickly. Had confidence and gave me confidence in his work and his flexibility. A negative might be that he seemed a little rushed.
He was responsive to doing the fence how I wanted it done.
His estimate sheet drawing was the best I had from any company.

I will start by saying I had 7 companies come out and give me an estimate before deciding to go with Roman Fence. Out of those 7, the cheapest came in at $3000 and the most expensive at $4800, the average being $3800. Roman Fence was the cheapest at $3000, however, that wasn't the reason I decided to go with Jim.
I like to do a lot of research on the companies before I drop $3000+ on a project. What I found with Roman Fence left me with a really good feeling to start. I particularly like the Roman Fence Facebook page. It really opens up the connection with the company, especially if they are actively keeping it up to date. Keeping their Facebook page up to date with their current work lets you know they are active and they are proud of the work they do.
I had actually called Roman Fence late int he evening and decided not to leave a message. I guess I figured if I could get a quick quote over the phone and asked some other questions about his business. I called late, probably 9PM just to see if anyone would answer. I already had 6 estimates, so I decided that I wouldn't bother him by leaving a message. To my surprise early the next morning I got a call from Jim following up on my missed call. I thought this was wonderful and showed great initiative and follow through tying up the loose end of the missed call and caring about getting business. Typically its hard enough getting a place to call you back when you tell them you want the work done.
With Jim, I was very pleased to see him follow up on the lead just for a chance to get more work. After asking for a quick phone quote and being please with our chat, I decided I wanted him to come out and give an official estimate after seeing my property.
I scheduled a time for the estimate and Jim was there within 2 days. I always hate waiting a long time to have an estimate done. So to say the least, I was really pleased it was so quick. Considering I was on my 7th estimate, I really wanted to make some decisions and get the ball rolling.
Jim arrived on time for the estimate. I immediately felt comfortable with Jim. A lot of the other people I "interviewed" just left me feeling unsettled, creep-ed out, or even annoyed. Jim walked line with me where I wanted the fence, gates and posts etc. He was not afraid of the task and never said anything that would make me doubt his ability or make me think he's not right for the job. He doesn't knit pick the project and try to up-charge you for anything that could possibly go wrong. For example, he won't whine because there might be a rock in the ground, or your fence is close to another fence. Instead he says if there's a rock, I will take care of it and will do everything to get it right.
Along the way Jim made suggestions about moving from an 8 foot gate to a 10 foot gate. Where most places would try to up-charge you for the larger gate, Jim did not. He explained that it doesn't cost him any more for the larger gate, and it just as easy to hang it. With his advice it got me thinking, and I actually changed around how I had my gates, and I love it!
When it came time for the written estimate, Jim provided something no one else did. He listed the specifications for the parts he would be using to build my fence. He was very confident in the materials he would be using and I really felt like he would do the same for his own personal fence. The estimate was a price that beat the average by $800, and deposit was very reasonable. At the end of the estimate I had decided he was the one to go with. I had a really good feeling about Jim that none of the other companies gave me. We scheduled 4 weeks out, and the job would take him alone, 3 or 4 days.
Jim was the only contractor I talked with that could sensibly talk with me about MY towns building codes and permits. Most people assume that I can just put whatever I want in where in fact, my town only allows 4 ft high fences of open construction. I definitely like when a contractor is familiar with the permit requirements for my town. At this point, Jim left me know he would mail me his information so I could get started on the permit with the town, and he would take care of NYS Dig Safe.
Jim worked with me to get my permit situated with my town. He worked with my town to get his insurance information submitted. After I went to my town build and found out I needed additional paper work regarding my contractor, I called Jim. He took care of it and was all set within an hour. So far Jim has been very responsive. Whether it's by phone or text. So far the start date has remained the same and we will meet the morning of to discuss the project before he digs.
Jim arrived on his first day on-time. We reviewed the plans for construction and he went on his way. He started by doing all the end posts and gate posts. He took a very short lunch break, and was back to working. He worked all by himself, using a combination of manual digging and power auger. At the end of the first day, I would say 90% of the posts were in concrete. I also got a glimpse of the gate posts that he uses; they are definitely top grade and heavy duty.
On the second day, Jim fished up all the posts. He found one spot for the gate post that had a rock. He used his jackhammer and took care of it.
On the third day he basically completed the rest of the work. I wasn't home for this part. My neighbor said he did have a helper for this part. The only thing left was some ties, which he came of Saturday to complete. When he was done, he sent me a text message. When I inspected the fence, everything looked great, and the yard was clean.
In addition, I have requested scrolls put on 3 gates. He was all for this, and the price seemed very reasonable.
In the end, The fence looks great, and took less than a week to complete (with some amount of rain everyday). I would definitely recommend him to my friends, and I will use him again for any fencing needs. I interviewed a lot of places, and he was the only one that popped out just from the phone call, and meeting in person sealed the deal.

    Eastside Fence Inc.

Bob was quick to call and give me an estimate. This is a busy time for these type of projects so I was impressed that the estimate and then the job was completed in 2 weeks. He was thorough with details around process, friendly and professional. The crew he brought to do the job were also very polite and professional. They completed the job in one day, did a fantastic job overall including clean up. I love the end product and so do my neighbors.

I started by calling several companies and leaving messages. It is very difficult to find a fencing company that does repairs. Chris called me about 2 days after I left my message. I told him what I wanted and gave him my address. When I got home from work that day he'd left a written estimate in my mail box. I called him and he he said he could have the job done on the following Saturday as that was the day the put aside for smaller jobs. When his guys arrive they were friendly and courteous. They did a wonderful job and I am very satisfied with their work.

They arrived promptly and the fence was finished in 4 days (including rain).  It looked amazing and has held up well through this past winter.  The price was reasonable and everyone was friendly and professional.  They cleaned everything up as if they hadn't even been there.  Would highly recommend them.

    Roman Fence
I was referred to Allset fence by guy i had doing work in my kitchen. I had a few quotes done by some other companies and until I called these guys, i was nervous about who to pick. I called and spoke to Jim directly, and could tell just by the phone call that what I needed he was happy to help. I got the feeling from a few other companies that my job was too small or not worth their time. Not from Jim though. He came very promptly and quoted me the job at a price of almost 600$ less then some others. He came by himself on the 2nd and dug all the holes and set the poles in concrete for them to set. The gates weren't available at that time so he told me all that in advance and would come back the next day to finish. He came back the next day and finished everything else, only for me to find out that he had to have the gates special made and welded cause they were still out of stock, but at no extra charge to me. I offered to pay the difference as I'm sure it was an added cost, but he would not let me. I'm so happy with the job he did, and now our dog can run freely in our back yard. I recommend giving Jim a call and letting him quote something you need.

    Another Fence Repair
The fence went up in a day. They're very efficient, very knowledgeable in what he was doing and i have no complaints at all. He did an excellent job. I spent $1200. Compared to the old one this fence looks great. He came out, gave us an estimate, gave us 3 different samples to look at, gave us the weekend to think about it and he called on Sunday and came Monday and put it in. The tor the old fence away put the new fence up, they were careful with my plants and as far as I'm concerned they did a great job.

I called Larry and he called me back within a few hours and came out in just a few days. I explained to him the problems over the phone--it was fairly minor. He came out on a Sunday to give me an estimate. He came back within a few days with his crew and he had my gate fixed within 10 minutes. Originally he was going to replace the hinges but couldn't obtain them as anticipated. So he made a repair and the gate works fine now. When it doesn't anymore, he will return and replace the hinges. He also secured the top part of a vinyl fence that had blown off in the wind. It didn't take him long at all and I only got charged $20--he said he only wanted to charge me for gas/mileage. Wow! I was blown away. I know it didn't take long, but it still was time out of his day. Honest and reliable--you can't ask for more.
