Flooring reviews in Ridgewood

  • I hired them to install a new vinyl floor and complete the hardwood floor in my main room.  They did an outstanding job.  The wood floor is seamless with the prexisting floor.  I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a quality flooring installation.

  • The crew arrived promptly and went straight to work.  Mike, the owner/manager, arrived shortly thereafter to ensure that things were going well.  He gave his team some instructions and stayed with them until he was comfortable that everything was in order.  They did a great job.  Mike is a true professional.  He is very competent and customer focused.  He clearly demonstrated that customer satisfaction is a top priority for Empire Carpet Center.

  • We first worked with Don Weber in 1995 when we remodeled the first floor of a two family home. Since our experience was so positive at the time, we had no thought of going anywhere else this time. We did a walk through of what we wanted and requested a specific time frame. Within a week Don emailed a work list and estimation of costs. We negotiated a few items and signed the contract. As before, Don's team were professionals and provided high quality work. Whenever we wanted to make a change to the original plans (which does happen with major remodels) Don would always discuss with us the cost of the change in both time and money. If the change was insignificant to the overall project, his team would just handle it.
We will continue to use Weber Carpentry for any remodel or carpentry work we have going forward. We have already recommended him to several of our neighbors.

  • The owner, Efren, was here before, during and after the job.  He detailed what his people would do, and that only changed as the condition of the plumbing, walls, and electric were discovered.  The workers involved were punctual, quiet, professional, and gentlemanly at all times.  The bill was about 2000.00 higher than I had anticipated,  but the extra work that caused the increase was detailed, and reasonable.  Our kitchen is certainly transformed.  There were a couple of minor issues with the finished job, but they came back almost immediately to correct them.  I would definitely recommend this contractor to others.

  • Excellent service...estimate was performed within a few days of calling and work was performed on the day I requested..The men arrived on time and were extremely efficient and professional. We are very pleased with this company and highly recommend their service!

  • The project went very well.  Mr. Zareba of Euro Home is always friendly, professional, and on time.  In addition to this bath reno in 2011, he also supervised a kitchen renovation for us in 2009.  We are very pleased with the results of both renovations.  We know whom to call for our future home improvement projects!

  • Having major renovations done is not something I would like go through any more often than is absolutely necessary, but having a contractor like Jim made it bearable.  The work started within a week of our signing the contract, and I was given reasonable notice when more working cash was needed.  Copies of receipts for materials were provided and settled professionally.
The work progressed at a good pace, much to the credit of his helper, Rocky.  Rocky was prompt, professional, very hard working and always respectful of the fact that his "worksite" was also home to an elderly man who lives on the first floor.
I would not hesitate to use Jim and his "crew" again.

  • Excellent overall satisfaction with this work and job. Time: About 2.5 months. Workers: Most of the work was done by a team of predominantly eastern European EXPERIENCED men who really really did excellent work. The clever and sharp accurate angles around existing structural obstacles to maximize headroom and space was really outstanding. Highest marks. Plumbing: Other than a back pressure valve which was forgotten, and then redone properly, all went according to plan. Electrical: Recessed lighting, fuse box connectivity and proper metal casing to spec all installed to plan and functioning properly. Tiling: Tile work looks excellent and was particularly tricky given that 100 year old house had floor designed to slope in to center of house and slope to front of house. There literally was no place where there was a perfectly level, horizontal plane to work on. And post-cement and tile work, the floors are straight and level. Drywall: Installed with baseboard seams straight and professional. Slightly tricky triangular door under stairwell done very well. Cost Containment: I drafted contract, with economic incentive for Peter to come in under budget. Turns out he came in exactly on budget - with the exceptions of change orders I initiated and requested or upgrades I selected at the hardware store like better sink and fixtures. Change Orders: Always agreed in advance with a very civil and friendly negotiation. Peter sometimes stretching for a little more profit in the change order than I was willing to agree to - but then usually and reasonably quickly compromising on a dollar number which worked for us both. Contract Form: I created and we both used a written contract which helped us both stay honest about what we expected. * The more detail you go into in the contract the better for both parties.* I'm sure if I had had to rely on memory of discussions which occurred months before construction started RE: closet, light fixture, electrical outlet, sump pump door, door type, lock quality etc., etc. was included - it would have made discussions of change orders and costs much more complicated. Only reason "Professionalism" is "B" not "A" above is that I think every contractor should have a super-detailed contract form for big jobs. However, Peter was willing to use my super-detailed contract - so maybe he deserves an A.
