    Rahat Construction Corp.
Mr. Ismail listened to our requirements and always consulted with us if circumstances changed our work plans. His team was on time, industrious, professional and did a great job. They kept the work area clean and worked relatively quietly. His fee was reasonable and we plan on using his services again.

    City Suburb, Inc.
This is the second time I used City Suburb. This time for the front stoop, and to make new steps to the basement. The job went very quickly once started, and they were clean and organized. Ravinder did his best to accomodate my requests even though he is very busy and gave a fair price.

    A.M. Shield Waterproofing Corp
This job went really well and am now recommending this company to friends. Even more impressive was the price. The price was about 1800 dollars less than their nearest competitor. Just to remove the drywall and doors I was quoted by contractors about 2000! To dig all the way down, deep enough to install the sump pump and of course re-concrete over around the three sides of my basement for this price was great. It's been about two months since it's been done and have waited to write a review as I wanted to make sure it was bone dry down there. It is. It is now ready to be finished. I also want to add an additional thank you to the employees for making it WAY more clean than it was to begin with! They even cleaned the bugs around the windowsills. George, the salesperson is personable and available for questions. I also like how he suggested how I could save money by buying the dehumidifyer online. Another waterproofer was going to sell me one through his company that was overkill. I feel like there's alot of integrity and pride of workmanship at A.M. I'm giving a "B" for punctuality because the workers didn't come on time both days which was a bit disconcerting. The first day there was a mechanical problem with the truck but I had to track that info down when they were 1 hour late. The salesman originally said they would start at 9 both days. They probably started about 10 or 11 both days. Of course when they finally came they were incredibly productive.

    Knockout Masonry Corp
The very first thing I want to say is that if you are shopping around for concrete or masonry work stop shopping, give Jimmy a call and relax knowing that you will be taken care of by someone who not only cares about his reputation, but also someone who cares about your happiness as a customer.
Jimmy was engaged with me every step of the way, spent the majority of his time on the job site either consulting with me or actually getting involved in the work (at one point he was neck deep in a trench digging along with his crew) and made sure that all my concerns and questions were addressed.  The people he has working for him are nothing short of amazing.  They are courteous, hard-working, and conscientious and you could tell from the way they went about the job that they had the experience necessary to easily handle the work.  The same can be said for anyone Jimmy refers you to for work he doesn't perform.  The contractors I met through him were professional and the work they performed pristine.
When problems came up, and they invariably will, Jimmy was reassuring to the point that after talking to him I felt my stress level drop by orders of magnitude.  One such large issue really illustrates this point and came about when we discovered that my gas line was coming into my house at ground level, causing the job to have to stop since we were unable to grade the driveway properly.  Jimmy made sure that everything was done that could be done and then worked with me and his schedule to make sure that he was able to come back as soon as the gas line issue was resolved.  I was very impressed with the amount of effort it took for him to coordinate this and the fact that he took it in stride speaks volumes.
I have and will continue to recommend Knockout to anyone looking for concrete or masonry work to be done because I have realized that Jimmy, and all the guys at Knockout, care just as much about your project as you do... and that is something that is not easy to find.

    DIMOLA BROS
I found Nick DiMola on youtube, actually.  He has a well-documented video archive describing the jobs he and his crew have completed.  After reviewing some of the relevant videos and his web page, http://dimolabros.com/ I rang him up for a quote. He arrived on-time and was straight-forward and knowledgeable about his work.  We agreed on the price, and the scope of the work, and scheduled the appointment for the following week. We had gotten several quotes, and his came in as right in there with the rest.  But what sealed the deal for us was his description of the work to be performed and how he'd carry out the job.  Clean.  That was the biggest emphasis from him in our discussions.  And Nick and his crew did not disappoint.  Additionally, he was the only one of the bunch of the demo folks in our area (Gelndale/Ridgewood) who had his own hauling trucks.  Having the trucks, and crushing as the work progressed, was key for us.  And it turned out to be the right choice.  He demoed the entire floor in three days (the other quotes ranged from 4-6 days to do the work). The demo began, and he did what he said he'd do.  He covered the hardwood floors with paper then masonite; he removed the fixtures and relocated the fixtures to the basement; he also covered the stove and fridge with plastic, and moved them safely out of the way; he relocated the radiators into one space, and when the job was finished, he had them on masonite so they would not damage the hardwood floors. His concern for the well-being of the individual downstairs went above and beyond--he taped the doors and cleaned up daily the dust in the hall.  He even helped out when the house's hot water heater's thermo-coupler died.  He looked after the plumber (I was in Manhattan in the middle of the day) and let the person on the first floor know when the job was finished, and she had her hot water restored. His emphasis  on clean was never understated.  Nick made sure the place was thoroughly cleaned, and mopped when he was finished.  His crew removed all the nails in the studs (as we were re-using them, and saved all the studs we requested to have reclaimed. He even washed down the porch and sidewalk in front of the house.  I'll use his services again for the second floor and basement demo next year.  Totally a pro through-and-through.   Highly recommend.

Main Man Water Main & Sewer Service
I spent $2850 on that work. I liked the whole thing. They were fine. They were quick and responsive. They were prompt and they did the job. They have not quite finished the job but that is not their fault because the weather needs to be warm for them to finish it. They were very punctual. I was a little frustrated because they called me at 7:30 in the morning and woke me up and told me that they were going to come out that day. Their price was cheaper than another company we had got a quote from.

    Picasso Expert Renovations
I got another estimate. They were willing to sand down 10 layers of paint on the doorframes. I wanted the original wood to be sanded down and restained. They were willing to do it and they did it with such care and kid gloves. They cleaned everything. They called everyday to let me know what was going on. They were very accommodating. It was such a nice crew. The price was pretty high but it was worth it. They did it in the time frame that I needed them to do it. In fact they did a little overtime so they could finish it even sooner. I was trying to get it done before my mother came back from vacation. I own the house but my mother lives there. He did not go one dollar over the estimated price. George helped me with the color selection. He did crown molding and refinished the door frames. He helped me get doors. There was a lot of home improvement done. He painted walls and ceilings in the kitchen. He took down fans and put up lights. It changed the interior of the house so much. He was worth every penny. It is a small house but so very pretty. My mother was really happy when she walked in. I had had the basement finished and they used drywall to cover the pipes. The gas company told me I could be fined because it could catch on fire so I told George and he came back and made the holes bigger and didn't complain or charge me. He said if there were any problems to call him and he would fix it. It is a good company. He replastered, spackled because there were a lot of cracks. I knew it would cost a lot to sand down the paint on the doorframes and it was worth it. It took his crew about a week just to do the doorframes. I had gotten two other estimates but they wouldn't do the doorframes the way I wanted them. I could have gotten it $6,000 cheaper and it would have looked good but not the way I wanted. I was very happy.
