  • My blood pressure was a little high so I made a follow up visit to Dr. Heymann's beautiful new office. There was plenty of parking and I waited less than 5 minutes to be shown to a room. The receptionist was pleasant and the nurse was quick and thorough.
It was less than 10 minutes before the Dr. came in.

He congratulated me on my weight loss and felt that my blood pressure didn't need medication at this time but he wanted me to keep track at home. Since that visit his nurse has called twice to check on my health and blood pressure.
I'm not a high needs patient (I'm in my 30s) so this extra care is extraordinary.

I really feel like he cares about his patients as humans. He's not quick to medicate and will only prescribe if necessary. I'd recommend him to anybody.

  • I liked my meeting with Dr. Abis. He impressed me very favorably. Before my visit, his office sent me papers to fill out and return. Included among the papers was a Records Release Authorization to obtain my file from my previous physician. When I met with Dr. Abis he told me he hadn't received the file. He said I should check back with his office at a future date, and if it hasn't been received by then, to ask his staff to follow up to my previous doctor. When I did this, his admin said, "We don't request records. That's your responsibility". I told her I don't have the authorization form because I returned it with all the papers as she had directed. She said she would look for it in my file and call me back. She never did. In a phone conversation before my visit, his office told me they accept Medicare patients. But, I was not told that Dr. Abis is a non-participating Medicare physician and I made the mistake of assuming he was a participating physician. When my visit was over I was therefore surprised when I was asked for payment. I offered to pay with a credit card but they accept only cash or check. I had neither on me so I mailed a check when I got home. I was told the amount of the doctor's fee is the Medicare approved amount. It wasn't. I overpaid. I am awaiting a response to the letter I wrote to Dr. Abis two weeks ago requesting a refund of the overpayment.
