    shed guys
were do i begin? the shed guy assured me that he had experience in the installation of such. it was apparent, from the start of the job, that the shed guy didn't have a clue. not a clue what-so-ever. the installation fell far, far below my expectations. very shoddy job with absolutely no attention to detail. --- corners that should've been bent and wrapped to form a tight seal were rare at best. --- roof manufacturer estimated that it would take a better part of 2 bags of screws to secure the roof, which i had on hand. the shed guy used about a 1/2 of 1 bag and was proud to say that i had leftovers. in most cases the shed guy using as little as 6 screws to install trim pieces that wrap soffits across an 18' to 16' span. --- roof manufacture recommends using butyl tape whenever metal touches metal. i had 100' available - shed guy used 0'. instead the shed guy insisted on using caulk. which, i had to run into town to buy while they waited because they brought none. i bought 2 tubes. they used just shy of 1 of them. --- every metal roof that i've ever seen has the screws that hold the roof panels themselves installed in a horizontal pattern. that is, across the roof as opposed to peek to bottom. did the shed guy install the screws in that pattern? of course not. he installed peek to bottom. would an experienced metal roofer do that? i find it hard to believe that even a novice metal roofer would do that. come on, really? --- screws were driven with no attempt to creating a smooth, divot free look. i guess i should be thankful that the shed guys didn't use that many screws. notice that i rated the shed guys a '2' in punctuality. that's the shed guys only redeeming quality. why? because, in my opinion, they are the epitome of contractors who are in for the quick buck. in-and-out. no guarantee what-so-ever - i tried to negotiate one. the shed guys refused. give me your money, and, don't call me if there's a problem was his sales pitch. and, he insisted on payment in cash. totally, totally, dissatisfied. i'm actually thinking about ripping it all of in the spring and replacing with cedar roofing shakes. that's how upset i am. i blame myself. i didn't have a good feeling from the start. but, i was desperate to get the roof on before winter set in. never again! from now on i'm going with my gut. don't hire this guy. his website doesn't even include a business address, just a phone number. suspicious?

    JW Smith Paving
I was very impressed by this company. I had several paving companies come and quote my job with JW Smith coming last. Tom, the man in charge of my job, came to my house at the appointed time and offered me a quote. Having seen the good reviews on Angie's List, I expected a reasonable price but was surprised to see that his quote was the lowest of those I'd gotten. I accepted his quote and was emailed the certificates of insurance I requested. The previous paving job that put down the driveway I was now having removed failed prematurely because they had used much less asphalt than they should have. When I mentioned this to Tom and asked how I'd know how much he was putting down, he invited me to watch and see exactly what he was doing. I did. Tom and his crew arrived just when he said they would and began to rip out my old driveway. The next morning, they came back and finished the removal process and set up to start the paving process which lasted all the rest of the day. The job went smoothly and the depth of asphalt was just as Tom had promised. In addition, the 100 foot section of the driveway that led to the road was paved about 6" wider than it had been before. It looked like a great job. There was heavy rain the day after the paving and I noticed that water was running off the driveway near one of my garage doors into the garage. Seeing that, I took a photo or two with my cellphone and called Tom's cellphone about 6pm and left a message. He called back within 20 minutes and asked me to email him the photos, which I did. The next day, I received an email telling me that he had received the photos and that he would deal with the problem. They came late last week to address the water problem and solved it completely. Justin, Tom's brother, and his crew handled the issue. He used my garden hose to determine where the water was going and then added asphalt to make the water go where he wanted it to. After each adjustment, he ran the hose again and saw the results of what he did and added a bit more here and there to ensure that there would be no further issue. The garage is now dry and, unless you know where to look, it's nearly impossible to see the extra asphalt that Justin added. He did a great job and the driveway looks great. At the end of the job, Tom gave me the invoice and I paid him. The final amount out of my pocket was actually about $90 less than his original quote. To add credibility to this review, I wish I had a little negative thing to say about Tom, Justin and JW Paving but I don't! It all went well, I feel I was treated very respectfully and the price was very fair. Get estimates from other places and have JW Smith come by last. I think you'll be impressed.

    JW Smith Paving
Good experience from start to finish. Tom came on time to give a quote, the price was excellent, they arrived on time to do the work and finished on time. Tom is very professional. They did an excellent job of grading our very long driveway; the rain no longer puddles in spots. They used more Grade 4 than expected, but still kept the price as quoted.

    Think Green Junk Removal
I couldn't be happier with the junk removal these men did for me. We had about 20 years of assorted boxes, books, bins, and just plain junk loaded into our garage and basement, and these guys worked with us to remove it all. They were patient as we checked through boxes to be sure nothing important was being trashed. They worked quickly and thoroughly on a very hot day. They were polite, friendly, and I wouldn't hesitate to call them again. They hauled two truckloads from our house and were done by 12:30 pm.

    Joshua Paving Inc
Several of my neighbors have recently used Joshua Paving so I phoned them on a Thursday evening asking for a quote to seal my driveway.  The company's office is about 45 minutes from my house and they seem to have a large service area but their estimator was in my driveway by noon the following day.  After he gave me a quote, he arranged to have a crew come by later that day.
The crew arrived around 5:30pm and began by using a torch to kill all the vegetation that might be coming through the existing pavement.  Then, they edged the driveway to get the lawn, which had grown over the sides of the pavement over the years, back where it was supposed to be.  Since we had an appointment elsewhere, we left the crew to finish on their own.  The next day, I found that they had masked all the walkways, rock walls and the house in the area they were going to spray in order to avoid getting the sealer on anything it wasn't supposed to touch.  It was a flawless job and the crew had been extremely solicitous and friendly.
Our driveway is about 100 feet long and we have a turnaround in front of the two car garage that enters the side of the house.  I don't know how many square feet the whole thing is, but it's a decent size.  The price wasn't the lowest I was quoted but this was the first time I've had a company edge the driveway and mask everything before they went to work.  I'm pleased and would recommend Joshua Paving.
