    shed guys
were do i begin? the shed guy assured me that he had experience in the installation of such. it was apparent, from the start of the job, that the shed guy didn't have a clue. not a clue what-so-ever. the installation fell far, far below my expectations. very shoddy job with absolutely no attention to detail. --- corners that should've been bent and wrapped to form a tight seal were rare at best. --- roof manufacturer estimated that it would take a better part of 2 bags of screws to secure the roof, which i had on hand. the shed guy used about a 1/2 of 1 bag and was proud to say that i had leftovers. in most cases the shed guy using as little as 6 screws to install trim pieces that wrap soffits across an 18' to 16' span. --- roof manufacture recommends using butyl tape whenever metal touches metal. i had 100' available - shed guy used 0'. instead the shed guy insisted on using caulk. which, i had to run into town to buy while they waited because they brought none. i bought 2 tubes. they used just shy of 1 of them. --- every metal roof that i've ever seen has the screws that hold the roof panels themselves installed in a horizontal pattern. that is, across the roof as opposed to peek to bottom. did the shed guy install the screws in that pattern? of course not. he installed peek to bottom. would an experienced metal roofer do that? i find it hard to believe that even a novice metal roofer would do that. come on, really? --- screws were driven with no attempt to creating a smooth, divot free look. i guess i should be thankful that the shed guys didn't use that many screws. notice that i rated the shed guys a '2' in punctuality. that's the shed guys only redeeming quality. why? because, in my opinion, they are the epitome of contractors who are in for the quick buck. in-and-out. no guarantee what-so-ever - i tried to negotiate one. the shed guys refused. give me your money, and, don't call me if there's a problem was his sales pitch. and, he insisted on payment in cash. totally, totally, dissatisfied. i'm actually thinking about ripping it all of in the spring and replacing with cedar roofing shakes. that's how upset i am. i blame myself. i didn't have a good feeling from the start. but, i was desperate to get the roof on before winter set in. never again! from now on i'm going with my gut. don't hire this guy. his website doesn't even include a business address, just a phone number. suspicious?
