Landscaping reviews in Poughkeepsie

Dennis came out right away on AUG 27 to talk about the job. The price was fair and although there was no written proposal, I told him he had the job. I texted 2 weeks later asking when the work would begin. He replied, "soon." It is now OCT 8 - hardly "soon." Although I'm sure he does good work, this lack of respect and consideration is hardly acceptable.

Though weather and their family health issues complicated scheduling they stayed in touch and were very cooperative with rescheduling. They and their workers were quite pleasant, meticulous, and conscientious. The garden is lovely.

I was very pleased. Punctual, professional, great work. Took a while initially to get the appointment, as there had been many local storms and trees down, but my work was not of an emergency nature, so I didn't mind the delay. Did the work as promised, as estimated, and cleaned up nicely.

They were very responsive. Took the time to discuss what I wanted/needed done, and then got it done professionally and quickly. They made sure that the trees they touched looked nice as well as being trimmed and cleaned everything up as they went along. Excellent job!

This company is responsive, reliable, and definitely willing to please. After starting the system in the spring they came back to make a requested adjustment. The gentleman who came worked with me to adjust a particular head until I was satisfied. I highly recommend this company because they’re reasonably priced, professional and they stand behind their work.

The only part of the project that was properly/professionally done was the removal of our trees. 1. Patio remains incomplete and incorrectly laid, despite repeated calls to get it fixed (and a promise from Chris that it would be fixed over a week ago). Their contract promised edging around the patio, which was not installed. Chris' response was that edging should not have been in the written contract he provided us. Their contract promised polymeric sand to ensure that the flagstone would remain in place and to prevent weeds, but they never installed it. Chris promised they would return to install it by the end of last week, but they did not. We've contacted the team multiple times, but no show. 2. Did not bring enough materials on site to complete the patio (we agreed and the contract stated a 14X21 but they only brought materials for a 10x21). They had to use our materials but did not shape our squares to match their rounded natural shapes, even though we specifically requested that they do so. Now our patio has two different shaped flagstone sections, which were not laid in a way that made it feel intentional. They still charged us full price, even though they didn't bring the amount of materials promised in the contract. 3. Did not remove weeds or invasive plant (knotweed) from the yard. Despite our request to actually remove the top layers of soil to remove the weeds and the terribly invasive plant, the team just "turned our yard upside down" so now all the weeds are re-growing and we are having to rip out the invasive plant by hand. To regrade our yard, in places they just stuffed weeds down the holes. We are now having to rip out the invasive plant ourselves, by hand. We no longer trust them to come back and fix the problem themselves. 4. They damaged our front driveway (broke asphalt) when moving our flagstone from the front to the patio (using our materials instead of theirs). They promised to come fix it within 5 days. It has now been 12 days and despite repeated attempts to get them out here to fix it, no sign of them. We will have to fix it ourselves. 5. French drain installation caused our pooling water and basement leaks to get exponentially worse. They then charged us more to fix the problem (grading and soil issues) that should have been apparent during original inspection/installation. 6. We asked to lay PVC for electric wiring the length of our yard. They balked at laying it 18 inches deep, even though that is the requirement from the building codes. Their exact question: "Why do we have to lay it 18 inches? Are you going to get it inspected or something?" They did end up laying it at the depth required, but they did not seal the holes of the PVC, and that night it rained, which means we now have water in the PVC where the electric will need to be placed. Still not sure how we will deal with that. 7. As the project was unfolding poorly, we contacted Chris, who was the manager of our project, and asked him to come on site and help us clearly communicate with the sub-contractor and HIS sub-contractors to fix the issues. Chris promised to come out to work with us, but he did not show up all day. We called him at the end of the day, at which point he said he had truck problems. It would have gone a long way had he proactively reached out when he knew he wasn't going to be here to let us know and reassure us that our project is important to him, or even get on a three-way phone call during the day to talk to the team onsite. Instead, we had to track him down. This happened throughout the project--we had to continually call them to figure out what was going on. At the end of the project, Chris agreed that some of the work was done with poor quality. However, he charged us full price for the work. We kept back $300 until they finished the patio and fixed our asphalt driveway. They never came back.

The total cost for all the work was $2475 plus tax. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism and courtesy of the crew. They worked for about 6 hours doing all the work and were careful to avoid further damage to my property. I wanted to save the wood chips so they dumped them in a corner of my property and then spread them out with a front loader. I know all the guys were tired by the end of the day but they did a really nice job cleaning up. Rick (the owner) worked with me to schedule a day that was convenient. I would highly recommend them and I will use them again when the need arises.

Rick came on Monday, looked at the job, and gave us a reasonable estimate. He said he could remove the tree later in the week or the next week. He called yesterday asked if he could come to do the work today. He, his large crew, and a huge amount of equipment, arrived and they did the work as promised. The tree was cut down, removed, and the stump was ground. Everyone was neat, careful, and obviously wanted to do a good job. They cleaned up after themselves and even spread the mulch, they had saved from around the base of the tree, so they could spread it where the tree had been.

We've used Tancredi landscaping for many years now in the Town of Poughkeepsie and they are hands-down the most ethical company around in that they charge really fair prices for outstanding work. I try to get a "workout" in every couple fall seasons and try to do the leaf cleanup etc myself and I'm quickly reminded why I'd rather have Tancredi do it, because they do work that's close to perfection and in a fraction of the time compared to me. Also, I know they don't charge over-inflated prices like most of the other landscaping companies in the area. Additionally, the owner Scott is very friendly and available to speak to tweak/alter services, and he is always accommodating. A+ in my book!

After talking with us and only giving him some general guidelines, Deer “resistant” and low maintenance, Tim came up with two very good designs. After reviewing them with him we picked the one we liked best and he started right away. Tim stuck to the schedule and even finished sooner than I thought. When finished, the project surpassed our expectations with the right blend of colors and placement. The two butterfly bushes lived up to their names by having butterflies and humming birds come to feed throughout the day.
