House Painting reviews in Poughkeepsie

    Paint Life Inc
A night and day difference. I received a few quotes from other companies in the area and they were no where near as punctual or professional as Rich and his crew. From day one, getting the quote, to day three, a finished product, these guys are top notch. Ive had multiple neighbors Ive never met before stop by and tell me how nice the house looks. I highly recommend them for your painting needs.

    Galapagos Painting
This company did an incredible job. They made numerous repairs to siding, windows, and trim prior to starting. Scraped and sanded house prior to applying an oil base primer to the whole house. They then applied two finish coats. Our house was transformed. This crew was totally professional, easy to work with, and worked non-stop until the job was done in less time than projected. Cost was very reasonable and I would use them again. I highly recommend them.

    Gold Painting
Amazing job - highly recommend! Courteous, professional, timely - the best service one could hope for - have received many, many compliments from neighbors and passersby on the job performed. All aspects of the work - prep, scraping, powerwashing, priming, painting - were done expertly.

    European Craftsman and Remodeling
Anton and Mario did an excellent job and they were both very pleasant to have working in our home. We would definitely hire them again and would certainly suggest anyone looking for a painter to hire European Craftsman and Remodeling.

    George Apap Painting
Carpentry was handled by a subcontractor, which is fine, but it was not disclosed when work was contracted. (Note: George Agap does not accept AMEX which is a negative.) Painting was amazingly professional and detail oriented. This is how it should be done!

    Handyman Andy
It went very well. Andy was punctual and extremely knowledgeable. He presented a full range of options and associated costs. My spouse and I settled on an inexpensive minimalist option. Andy executed this quickly and efficiently keeping us informed. He finished a little ahead of time with minimal disruption.

    European Craftsman and Remodeling
Anton came the same day I called, gave me an estimate (extremely reasonable given my rush) and was ready to start the work next day. The extensive repairs were finished within 2 days and the room looked better than when it was brand new. They worked very long hours and actually did more than we've agreed on originally, just to make sure everything looked great. Anton and his guys cleaned up after themselves and there was absolutely no damage I usually expect from contractors, like scratches on the hardwood floors, doors, etc. I'm very pleased with the work and professionalism. Will definitely use them again.

Where to begin.  The upper ceiling was done what appeared to be correctly.  I had wanted it to be fully taped and primed.  90% was taped, the last pieces that went in were spray foamed in (Great Stuff).  Miscommunication here I guess.  They said they were going to use spray insulation.  I didn't realize they meant sealing the last sheet rock corners with it.
Not once did the owner stop by the entire time the job was being performed to review his workers and the job they performed.  It was dependent on me to make sure they were doing things correctly.  Don't get me wrong, in the end its me that has to be satisfied with the work, but I hire a crew to come in to do it..I shouldn't have to manage/review it daily to make sure its progressing as expected.  The only time the owner stopped by, was after it was all said and done, to pick up the payment.
There was damage to the tub.  At first I thought it may have been a ladder.  That day there was only one person here, and they were putting up the second lower ceiling themselves.  Pre-screw the sheet rock, then hold it up on their own, and try to get it screwed in fast enough.  I believe they dropped the drill.  I measured the larger broken portion and the smaller.  The larger appears to be where the battery would have hit, and the smaller would have been the tip of the screw end.  Prior to this occurring, and me reporting it, I saw little to no use of tarps. There was a mess left every night.  After this, they started using tarps all the time or so it seemed, as there was little to no mess left at the end of the day.
The response I got from this via text was almost comical.  I will quote it here, spelling errors included:
"Good morning ****.  We will be returning Mon and hopefully completing, if not be at 90%.  The Tub?  That will be repaired on Monday as well with a Porcelain repair kit.   I'm not sure how it happened since the Ladder can't rest on it being that the hole is not on the flat part of the tub but I will repair it Reguardless.  You can clearly tell that it was aged extremely prior as you can see by the rust on the metal.  That doesn't happen overnight.  Fortunately for you it happened on Our time so we were the lucky ones that got to experience it's final lifting.  There are and apparently we're issues with the tub prior as you can clearly see and so can I, that a primer or spray paint was used on the flooring at one time to cover exposed metal of worn out Faux Porcelain.  But all in all I will address it as well as the small Crack next to it the size of a rice grain."
Not all that professional in my opinion.  Regardless the age of the tub, that morning there was no damage, that evening there was.  The repair ended up happening on Tuesday.  It was also, shoddy at best.  It dripped and pooled, making a small bubble up below the cracks.  Not much I can do about that so left it.
While they were putting the second ceiling up, they had to cut holes for recessed lighting over the tub.  They cut the holds, in the wrong place.  They thought it was right, but when they flipped the sheet-rock over so the correct side was facing out, oops...holes in the wrong place.  Instead of replacing the whole sheet, they stuck the holes back in, puttied over them, then re-cut new holds in the right locations.
One of those holes, ended up being to big, so the vapor barrier on the light covers, did not fully cover and was exposed.  I had to have them come back to repair it, and the person tried to tell me you can get it to cover.  I pull the cover down, and push it up, not trying to yank it over, and there is an exposed hold on the edge.  They put a ton of putty up there to try and cover it.  There is a small ridge I'll end up repairing myself once its fully dry.
A portion of the ceiling corner had a nice ridge on it, very view-able from when the lights were on.  This was a brand new ceiling, no ridges should be present.  I had to have them come back to repair that.
They didn't do behind the toilet.  I'm glad I noticed this on the last day they were here.  I took the back of the toilet off so they could sand and paint that section.
I had them repair tape joints above the sink (part of the job).  After the final coat of paint, you can see the putty lines.  Its going to be behind a large mirror, so I didn't push the point on having them repair it.  At least the tape isn't bubbling any more.
The air vent.  I did the initial install myself, then loosened the screws and moved it over to the side so they could do the upper ceiling.  The screws are in an odd position, and you cannot tighten them if you make the hold the exact size as the opening.  I stated it twice you will need to cut it out to tighten them.  On the last day, they just hung it on the screws as it was, and did not tighten them, so one side was hanging down outside of the ceiling 1/2 inch or so.  I compromised on getting this fixed as again I was fed up at this point.  They took down the air vent, tighten the screws up a bit, put the vent back on, punched a hold through the aluminum side, and screwed one more screw in to tighten it up.  Its better than it was is all I can say, and good enough for me to say it was done.
Its been two weeks, I was just tired of them being in my house, and I wanted it over.

    George Apap Painting
I used George Apap Painting because two years ago I had them paint and repair the exterior of my house. They did an excellent job then, so I requested and was assigned the same crew. Arek, Dave, Corey, Shawn, Scott, Jeff and Voytek were on time every morning and worked the whole day, every day, and consulted with me when they (or I) had a question. They utilized the paints I requested, and helped me with my choices as to texture, coverage and number of coats. I had forgotten a couple of things I wanted done and they gladly added them to the job without a fuss. The results are spectacular! My wife and I are very pleased with the results. We would hire them in the future when we need painting done. They cleaned as they went, never left a mess overnight, and the jobsite was neat as a pin when they left. No drips, overspray or splatter on the walls or floors. I recommend them highly and without reservation. This is a truly professional and caring contractor staff!!!
