    Blackrock Excavating Corp
I hired Black Rock Excavating (Doug) to do some drainage work on my home. I paid Doug half the amount as he requested, but he didn't even do half of the work or purchase any of the materials. He never finished the job, and I never heard back from him despite many attempts to contact him.

It went beautifully, they gave us an estimate, then came and installed the system around the exterior walls of the house with a sump pump for drainage. We have been happy since 1986 with no complaints or issues. They insulated all walls & sealed 1 ft high with B-dry Rigid sealer. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone with a basement or lower level water issue. The installers were professionals and the work was completed in the estimated time.

    Ace Environmental Solutions
They did an incredibly thorough job, and successfully remediated a longstanding problem. They removed mold-infiltrated wallboard in the basement, treated every surface with fungicide, and fogged affected spaces and the air ducts. Before doing the work they took extensive precautions to prevent mold from spreading. Workers used protective gear. Ellen was very accommodating regarding special requests and answered my many questions. She is very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with!

Very professional.  Took his time and provided lots of information.  My wife and I learned a lot.  When we are ready to move ahead on the project, we will definitely use this company.

The work went quite quickly and B-Dry coordinated the whole project returning the basement to its former condition.  We have noticed significantly less water in the basement since this work.  In very heavy rainfalls, water seeps up in a small puddle through the center of the southwest corner cement floor, but this is due to the porous nature of the floor.   The B-dry system cannot correct this minor inconvenience.  We have a dehumidifier which helps to keep the basement dry and this takes care of the seepage problem.

one was snow related the other, I didn't answer my phone so they cancelled.  I was out of town and on the train back to meet them.
you sent me an email regarding this telling me I could get a refund or possibly service from another company.  I responded, thank you I would take either.  I still need the work but if you can't get another service, I will take the refund.
    Thanks,   Amanda Crowley

The work is still in progress. They gave me a $500 Angie's List membership coupon. They honored that and that helped a lot. They finished the job. They said it was going to take a day and a half or two days and they finished in a day. We were worried about the rain and so he fit us in as soon as he could. Josh came in and was very informative and well knowledged. He just looked around the area and told us exactly what we needed. He just focused on the job and showed us what was needed. He had the right tools so he gave us a demonstration which really helped us understand what was going on. The guys came in and we felt like they rushed through. There was some damage to the wall, I'm not complaining about that, it might have been just the way they had to get to the wall. The work is guaranteed for the life of the house and it is transferable, so that is a very good thing. My husband and I tried to finish the basement and we had another torrential rain and there was water in the basement. I called Josh and his guys came over and they found another crack in the wall and fixed it with no questions asked. It wasn't something that I was expecting. They just came out and cut the wall out and found a crack in the foundation and repaired it. Then they said, let's just wait for another rain and see if there are other problems. They are working with us. They have the best price out of the other 3 contractors that we had come in. There may have been some miscommunication because we thought that the pipe running away from the house would be 30 feet and it is only about half of that.

The crew arrived on the planned date and worked diligently.  They were knowledgeable about the issues of an old house and knew exactly what they were doing.  They had to carry out the debris (concrete and dirt), and bring in the material and equipment by hand.  They were careful to partition off the part of the basement where they worked and keep dust and dirt from going out of the work area. The crew did a great job in making sure the work sites were cleaned up and everything was done right.  A truck had to come back 2 days later to finish up the river rock in the outside trench, as they had run out of material.  The yard, considering how difficult it was to dig the trench away from the house, was in very good shape.  There were tree roots ans shale that made things difficult and required  a jackhammer at times.
It was a difficult and messy job that they did wonderfully, inside and outside. I have been very pleased with the work and there has been no problems with water or excessive dampness in the basement.

The owner and workers were courteous and professional.  A minor issue discovered upon completion was addressed in good time.  Overall they cleaned up well except for some residue in the basement stairway and on the door.  The price was very reasonable especially considering some of the quotes we got from some big-name companies.
