    Royal Windows & Doors
The two technicians arrived early and set right to work. The work was done extremely professionally with care and neatness. The extent of the dry rot repair turned the job into a full day. As promised the bulk of trash was cleaned up and hauled away. Moved furniture was put back into place The only area for improvement is for the workers to offer to vacuum inside before leaving ( as other contractors have done without asking). All in all ,from Solon's initial visit , to ordering, and then receiving delivery we are very pleased.

    Devito's Home Improvement

I called  Devito's Home Improvements and spoke directly to the owner Justin Devito to arrange for a free in home estimate regarding a tub conversion to a shower or full bathroom renovation.  Justin was able to provide me with an immediate appointment that worked well with my schedule needs.  Justin arrived in a timely manner on the date and time that he said he would and presented in a professional manner.  Justin accessed the bathroom area and listened to what I, the home owner wanted to have done.  I was interested also in using tile that I already owned, Justin reassured me that I could utilize those tiles as well as select any additional tiles needed. There were several options availed to me regarding the tub to shower conversion verses having the entire bathroom renovated.  Justin provided his professional opinion noting that he would advise doing the entire bathroom as it would constitute a capital improvement and would thus save on tax costs as well as would be more cost effective than doing the job in two separate parts.  I felt very confident that this contractor was only looking out for my best interest.  Justin provided me with two estimates both included all labor as well as any building materials needed for my specific job.  I was to provide all fixtures, shower doors, vanity, sink top, vent fan, light fixture, mirror, tiles, and grouts.  Justin also provided me with all quantities of square footage/running feet for the various tiles needed.  Justin also added that he would pick up all the supplies that were set aside for him on will calls at the local home improvement locations.  Without me initiating a concern about my family having access to restroom facilities during the evening and morning hours, Justin reassured me that at the end of each work day my toilet would be reset and available for usage.  I was well impressed by his concern of the homeowner's needs.  Other contractors told me good luck, your going to have to go to a hotel for the duration of the project as your facilities will be non operational!  After Justin answered all of my questions and concerns regarding the project, I then confronted him with a challenging start date which would take place in a few days as I wanted to tie it in with an up coming vacation time that was already scheduled on my behalf.  Justin was up to the challenge and agreed to the start date of 12/15/2014, the agreement was made, my bathroom was to be fully renovated by Devito's Home Improvement.

With advance notice and concern for my approval, the start date was adjusted for an foreseen personal matter on behalf of the contractor by one day, however I was reassured by Justin that the work would be completed as agreed on 12/20/2014.  On Tuesday 12/16/2014 Devito's Home Improvement Company arrived at my home in Port Jefferson Station at 8:30 A.M. with the owner Justin Devito along with two assistants and a full sized and fully equipped company truck and trailer. Introductions were made and the work was about to begin. The workers laid protective drop cloths throughout the area they walked through and worked in.  Demolition work was the first phase.  All building debris was carefully removed and carried to the trailer.  The entire bathroom was gutted the first day.  Restoration took place the following day...sheet rock, cement board etc. was installed.  Each day another phase took place to bring my bathroom closer to completion. The assistants did an excellent job and were meticulous with everything they worked on.  The assistant that worked on the tiling needs took great pride in his work maintaining consistency throughout the tile design and grout lines.  I would like to add that without asking, my toilet was available for usage at the end of each work day, except for one day when the bathroom floor was placed.  At the completion of each day the assistants made sure that everything they used was stored away, drop cloths were collected and the floor and any work area used was broom swept both inside and out.

December 20, the day of completion...an amazing transformation! I am now the proud owner of a beautiful bathroom constructed by Devito's Home improvement of whom I highly recommend to anyone looking for quality workmanship at great prices.

    "In the Spirit" Handyman Services
We were extremely pleased with the work that Bob Smith and his small crew completed in our home - the quality, professionalism, price, time it took - were all top notch.  I highly recommend In the Spirit Handyman without any reservations for home improvement.
I received two quotes on our remodeling project before I found Bob on Angie's List.  The first was from Lowe's in Stony Brook and the second was from Alure.  Alure's representative was wonderful; he came to the house and wrote up an estimate.  The only negative was the price.  Let me just say it was almost double the amount Bob charged me.  The thing I didn't like about Lowe's is that they wanted the entire amount in a check UP FRONT before they had even done any work.  Really?
It was then that I found In the Spirit Handyman on Angie's List.  I rarely ever would hire someone without a personal recommendation; however two things caught my eye:  1) I was impressed with his high ratings in all categories and 2) the fact that he was a Christian.  Being a believer myself, I thought "This sounds too good to be true."  Well, no, it's not.  It's In the Spirit Handyman!  There is such a thing as someone who is professional, clear, honest, hard-working, good at what he does, and does what he says!  That's Bob Smith!
I called Bob and was pleased to learn that he accepted Discover Card (Putting the total cost of our Kitchen Remodel on Discover = Lots of Cash Back Bonus = Partner Gift Cards to our favorite restaurants and stores = Priceless).  We arranged an appointment where he took measurements and talked to us about our plans.  I was struck by his calm demeanor and relaxed manner.  He's an unassuming man that obviously has committed beliefs, yet doesn't flaunt them.  He's just so...normal.
His estimate turned out to be slightly higher than Lowe's.  Given the fact that Lowe's didn't take credit card payment plus them saying the granite could take up to 3 weeks after the cupboards were installed, it was a no-brainer for us to choose Bob to do the kitchen for us.  The company that he uses, Way Point, is the exact same as Lowe's Shenandoah line, just a different name.  We got the same Maple Auburn Glaze that we'd picked out at Lowe's.
We chose a date that was perfect for us for the work to begin, and they started at 8 a.m. and worked straight til 4 the first day and pretty much every day that they were here.  First, they took out the old cabinets and closed off a pass-through window between our kitchen and living room to create more wall space.  They were very neat and fast.  Bob was very considerate to leave the kitchen sink intact until the very last day so as to keep inconvenience to a minimum.
One of the things I noticed about Bob and his workers that I appreciated was how QUIET they were - they worked without music on.  I remarked to him about it and he said they don't listen to it when they work because it can interfere with their communication. I told him how much I appreciated that, and that I don't like it if workers assume they can blare the radio when they're in your house.
The cabinets were installed in ONE DAY by a married couple that were extremely polite and soft-spoken.  They arrived at 8 and left at 6.  When I returned after an errand (yes, I felt completely safe leaving the house in their hands - no qualms whatsoever), this fellow had some Christian music softly emanating from his little iphone.  He immediately asked "Is this too loud?" and even when I said it was fine, he went ahead and turned it off.  Such courtesy did not go unnoticed.  I still can't believe he was so quiet as he worked, and did the installation in 1 day!  The cabinets are beautifully installed.  His wife assisted him in the work and broke down all the cardboard boxes and stacked them neatly for recycling.  It was nice getting to know them, very sweet people.  Even with small talk, they worked efficiently.
WayPoint customer service is great, BTW.  The cabinets were delivered in boxes, which were set on a thick plastic tarp that they set up on our floor - it showed the care and forethought they have in delivery.  Also, the cabinets came with a touch up kit.  I called them to get a replacement marker because the cap had fallen off and it was dry.  They sent them out right away, no charge.
We chose our granite piece from Creative Stone and Cabinets in Selden, who cut, polished and installed it to perfection.  They had it ready within 4 days after making the template!  Juan, the owner, was soft-spoken and courteous.
From start to finish, it took less than 2 weeks to complete our kitchen remodel.  I don't think anyone can touch that.  I'd heard that kitchen remodeling can be very stressful, but due to the professionalism and speed with which the work was done, our experience was relatively painless.
I asked Bob to do some extra work around the house, and it was no problem at all.  Lewis did much of it.  He is a force of nature: he's not the youngest man, but he calmly saunters in and gets the job done like it's effortless (he and Bob put in the glass tile backsplash, which looks beautiful).  For $350, he: added a wall outlet, added an outlet and changed a switch on the counter, repaired a loose outlet in a bedroom, repaired a ceiling fan, installed 2 ceiling lights, installed a ceiling fan, supplied 5 additional cabinet shelves, cleaned up and carted away homeowner debris, and installed a new tub trim kit.  When I found that the handle on the tub wasn't turning the water hot enough, I called Bob and he told me when he'd be able to come and fix it.  He and Lewis came as promised and fixed the problem.  I also asked Bob to look at the new kitchen sink, which I felt was draining slowly.  He located the problem in the plumbing and fixed that too.  Before he left, I asked him to install a jar opener under the cabinets and he didn't bat an eyelash and just did it.  I just remembered that earlier, I'd snagged Lewis to put up a paper towel holder for me.  No charge for any of it.

It is so nice when someone does what they say they will do, and does it with expertise, humility, a hard work ethic, and without any drama or fuss.  Bob is a great guy who runs a tight ship.  He certainly has earned his high rating on Angie's List.  I am a very satisfied customer, and wouldn't hesitate to hire him again if needed.  He seems busy, and rightfully so, but always, always calls back promptly.
Can I say anything more that's positive?  We liked the fact that he loved our Boston terrier!

    LOVE DRYWALL
Love Drywall completed the work, but I hoped they would have completed the work as if they were working on their own home.  We had to go back and refine their "finished" work.  That was disappointing.  They showed up when they said they would, but overall, the work was just so, so.

REF Home Improvements and Handyman Services
This is the 4th time we have used Rich, and once again, he did an outstanding job. He had great suggestions to update the bathroom and helped us design the entire project. He worked hard to see the bathroom was first rate, and helped us keep on budget. The quality of his workmanship just cannot be beat. All the work was done on time, neatly and with great skill. If you live on Long Island and need a workman who is honest and highly skilled, you just cannot beat Rich and REF. We cannot wait to use him again in the near future! Thanks Rich!!!

    F Dubrino Construction
Frank Dubrino is the "Holmes on Holmes" of Long Island!  After suffering some water damage due to a water leak we decided to not only replace the damaged ceiling and wall but to do a total remodel of the wood paneled garage conversion.  Frank came into our home and not only gave us a fair price but gave us ideas on how to remodel the awkward living space that had a picture window cutout between the den and family room.  Frank opened the cutout even more and built us a custom bar to combine the two rooms.  Frank found problems during the remodel and made sure he repaired everything the right way during this process.   Frank was very professional, left everything spotless at the end of each work day and has a calm demeanor that makes him very easy to work with.  He is a true genious at his craft.  Frank could have easily done the job that we asked him to do and rushed out with his pay, but he made sure he took his time and did the job right.  After a nightmare experience as new homeowners with a previous contractor it was so refreshing to find a true, honest professional contractor who takes pride in doing the job the right way.  My wife and I have found a contractor in Frank Dubrino that we will trust and use for any fut ure home projects. We highly recommend him to everyone on Angies List.  It is refreshing to know that there are still honest people out there that take pride in the  work that they do and do the right thing for the people who utilize their services.  Thank you once again Frank.

    Dormer Doctor
Richard was one of six contractors I spoke to and received quotes from for the construction of a new 20'X30' detached garage. Rich was on time for our initial meeting and was very helpful and accommodating in discussing the details and requirements for our project. His price was the second lowest, but my comfort level with him was the highest of all six contractors. I received prices that were literally twice as much as Rich quoted. Rich is an easy going guy and did not ever use any pressure tactics or hound me before I made my decision to use him. This project was supposed to kick off in the late spring, but didn't due to very poor handling by the Town of  Brookhaven,  The town approved my original design for which I subsequently had an architect make up drawings. Upon official submission to the town, someone "changed their mind" and required a variance and changes in the design. I had to go through the considerable inconvenience of applying for a variance and had to have the drawings modified to reflect the new requirements of the town. This basically meant I had to pay the architect again. Through all these delays, Rich was very understanding and patient. We didn't get started until Mid-December. The project took a bit longer to complete than originally anticipated, but that was due mostly to weather delays. Rich worked well as weather permitted. They were on site no matter how cold it got, as long as it was dry or not snowing. Rich's payment schedule was very workable. He was very cooperative and his prices were quite reasonable about several changes and/or adds I made along the way. Overall, I would not hesitate to highly recommend Dormer Doctor to others or to use Rich for any future projects. He is the contractor you have been looking for!

    Schmidt Brothers Construction
Excellent - Schmidt Brothers is "old school" - the highest quality in craftmanship and service. Although they have suggestions, they genuinely can take your idea and bring it to life. Their extensive experience shows not only in their workmanship, but also in the design - in providing excellent advice based on that experience. Typically, a job begins with a call to Schmidt Brothers, and usually the call is answered by machine. Hardy returns the call "promptly" - meaning at the end of the work day. They don't interrupt their work at your site to take calls. Their time on your project is dedicated to your project. Perhaps that is one reason why their quality is so consistently good - they are self-disciplined and don't allow themselves to become distracted. In fact, they are "old world". Hardy and his brothers were born in Germany, and old world craftsmanship is part of who they are. Hardy sets an appointment to see what is needed - to meet with you, etc. - and then discusses thoroughly the project, what you want, etc. He makes sure he understands clearly, and in 20 years there has been no misunderstanding because he genuinely listens to the customer. Your project and needs are about you - not about him or his company. They schedule based upon your needs. The project timing is always on the mark, although an 8 AM start time may end up being more like 9 AM. But I would rather have the finished product ready on-time and of excellent quality than have them punch a clock - after all they don't charge by the hour they charge by the job. I could go on and on, but by now someone reading this should understand that Schmidt Brothers is a rare breed - high quality, high value craftsmanship delivered by individuals who not only are talented craftsman but who also fully understand the meaning of "service".
