The guys were prompt, friendly, and took the time to explain what they were looking at as they inspected everything. I had to reschedule the appt a couple times for work reasons and they were very patient and flexible. Will definitely hire this company for any further service needs.

They missed the first two appointments. They made the third. Technician was nice. Spent 30 minutes in the basement, came up and said "everything is fine" and left. Expected some for of output other than "everything looks fine".

    T. Webber Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Drains
The workers were very friendly. They are old radiators and we still had some spitting and I would have wanted some advice on how to prevent that from happening. A lot of the caps had been compromised, they're cracked, and we were hoping to possibly get some other recommendations for how to get them working even better because what was done didn't really solve the problem. I think they could have done better by recommending replacement parts when there is an issue. Perhaps it's just not going to function no matter how well it's turned. They should offer options for improved functionality. I don't remember it being expensive.

First, Gary did a custom built-in bench to create a breakfast nook under a bay window in our kitchen. He did the job in 2 days, and the result is a solid and sturdy wooden bench with built-in storage and custom woodwork to match the paneling on our kitchen cabinets. He had to work around an existing baseboard heater, and managed to work it beautifully into the piece. Next, Gary renovated our master bathroom. From demo of the old bathroom to construction of a new room including custom steam shower to intricate tiling throughout the room, Gary worked his tail off almost singlehandedly to have the room ready in under two weeks. His attention to detail is impressive, and he is straightforward with advice and concerns. Gary was patient with us as we navigated the unfamiliar process, and he was exceptionally kind to our two young kids, who absolutely adore him and keep asking for him to come back and do another room. Very lucky to have found Gary, and will keep him on speed dial for all kinds of projects.

use them again. All went well, I was told the tech would arrive between 4pm-7pm, and he arrived at approx. 4:15pm. He was polite , professional and very quick the whole job only took about 30 minutes. I am very pleased with the overall experience and service, I will surely use them again and refer to others.

    Keating Electric & Technologies
It went great.  Not only did he install all units as advertised he had to run 2 c-wires to recharge the units.  As a new homeowner I was very very appreciative of his brief rundown of my entire system.  He showed me what exactly I had, explained how it all worked and made several suggestions for establishing a good routine with my nest.  Fantastic.

    Lisi Contracting
There are not enough great things I can say about this contracting company!! Both Valentino & Ben are extremely knowledgable about their craft. They have been responsive to our needs & have made themselves available to answer any questions we had both along the way & even when we had concluded the projects. Their workers are amazing, polite, friendly & clean. Having been under renovation for a year, I can honestly say that I miss them in my home & would use nobody else from here on out!! I can rest assured that we are in good hands & that everything is being managed appropriately when my husband & I are at work. You will not be disappointed using Lisi Contracting & most importantly, they are secure in the work they do & make it fun every step of the way!! Thanks to them, my husband & I have built our dream home :)

    Burke Energy
I became a customer of Burke's this winter when my old company, Castle Oil, sold them their accounts. This morning, I woke up to a cold house. I called Burke, and they told me I was scheduled for a delivery today. Apparently, they'd screwed up estimating my usage (which has been normal). Whoops.

They sent a tech to give me 10 emergency gallons. I live ten minutes from their office but it took him 3 hours to get here (on a cold day), but I was okay with that. But I was never called back with an ETA (or an apology). No effort to stay in touch re: addressing their error. He just showed up when he showed up. I asked him when I'd receive the rest of my delivery, he bashfully suggested I keep calling and bugging the office about it so they wouldn't forget. Can't imagine why any customer should have to do this...much less one who was just royally screwed up. I get the sense the office is chaotic.

Finally, the truck did show up, and the workers threw a tantrum about having to walk through snow to get to my valve (which is far from my driveway, near my basement door in the back yard). They got belligerent about it. I've never complaints from oil guys before; maybe they're not cut out for such rough work. Anyway, I wasn't feeling receptive to complaints from Burke
after sitting in a 50 degree house all day (not the deliverer's fault, but they definitely knew what had happened to me).

So I surfed here to Angie's List to find another oil service. First, I took a look at opinions on Burke, and it looks like everybody else loves them. My feeling is that I can easily forgive a mistake or two. But that's a whole bunch of bad actions in one day, and I'm moving on.

Positives: one person I spoke to on the phone seemed competent (the other was robotic), and the tech was polite, friendly, and competent. Price per gallon is fair. The deliverers did, eventually, deliver.

    Update, about a week later.

I had an appointment for Burke to clean my oil burner. They never showed, never called. Is there anything these guys can get right?

I've been puzzled about the great reviews for Burke here on Angie's List. But now I understand. A woman from Burke has been calling and calling and calling. I finally picked up, and she wanted to "discuss the concerns I'd expressed on Angies List".  So they've got an employee managing online reputation (I see she's also "managed" my review with a reply below), trying to persuade customers to soften or undo their negative reviews.

I don't have "concerns" about Burke...I've had really bad experiences. Burke is the one that ought to have concerns - that they let customers run out of oil, that they're sluggish in getting them emergency oil, that they don't stay in touch once they've screwed up, that their deliverers are angry, dainty prima donnas, and that they can't make scheduled appointments work. They need to  be dealing with those systemic problems, not dealing with me, a bad reviewer, like I'm the problem. This woman (who works two states away in the corporate office) should be calling my local Burke office and figuring out how so many people from so many parts of the company are screwing up so egregiously in so consistent a way. So spare us the boilerplate, ma'am, and get on the phone and fix your sucky company.

    Second update, two weeks later

In my previous update, I described how the Burke person who "manages" customers who complain online was calling and calling. Finally, when we spoke, I told her I didn't need to "discuss my concerns" because I intend to switch to gas. She said "oh", and there was silence, which seemed like a good opportunity for me to say "bye" and hung up.

So she marked my account "canceled". Even though I hadn't actually said that. But, hey, no problem. The guy in the local office called yesterday to doublecheck that this was correct. I told him I hadn't  asked to close my account, and he said I was due for a delivery, because my tank is estimated to be only 1/4 full. So we scheduled the delivery for today. And (geez, you could have predicted this), I woke up today to a cold house again. Guess it ran out. They screwed up the estimation yet again.

Keystone cops. Idiots. Morons. Simpletons. Sorry for the outburst, but if you've read this far, I'm figuring you'll excuse me.

    Enviromax Heating and Cooling
Elmer and his team are fantastic. Would not hesitate to recommend. Thorough, professional, responsive and dedicated. Great people doing great work, you could do far worse than have Environmax take care of your heating and cooling needs. Thank you Elmer and team for saving us just as the weather started to get cold.

When I returned home from work some hours after the technician had come by to get the system running, I opened my front door to an 85f house with two panting animals who were slowly baking to death. I called the company's emergency number and Dennis - not the technican who originally visited-was kind and responsive. He helped me get the unit switched off and scheduled a visit the next day. However, soon after he left, the pressure gauge starting rising dangerously again and our heating system began to overheat. It being Saturday, I was told an appointment would be made on Monday.  I  will be requesting  a) a refund of my payment from this company for their service call that caused this problem b) replacement of  our fuel that was burned due to their technican's negligence. If anything had happened to our pets....
