Home Inspection reviews in Pleasantville

  • At the time I thought he was okay, but a year after I purchased, I discovered that this inspector had missed that this home had been remodeled and a load bearing wall had been removed. At the time he inspected, the floor was already sinking. I have now had to pay $20,000.00 to have a beam put in and the load resettled. When I called to speak with Louis about this he refused to discuss it or bear any responsibility. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!

  • Inspector completed the inspection within the 3 hour window - walked through the outside and inside of the property. Addressed questions, although showed some impatience (cut me off) when asked multiple questions. Property had some visible cracks, but inspector dismissed them as non concern. Later that day provided a summary report via email, but failed to mention anything about the cracks that were visible in the 1st place. When I responded to him with this issue and few other issues (that were not mentioned in the summary of the report) he responded via email, but I had to ask him to add these to the report.
He indicated that if I was still concerned, I should seek second opinion.
I did schedule a second opinion inspection and it revealed structural concerns on this property that need to be addressed immediately (missing part of the wall supporting the 2 levels of the house).
It also revealed another immediate concern with the retaining wall being eroded by the water and it needed immediate reinforcement to stop the deterioration of the wall (cracks and soil/dirt being washed away).
None of these immediate concerns were raised or included in his original report - I would not recommend his services to anyone, unless you want to live with the consequences of spending $$$ on immediate repairs.
Also his complete report was a joke - it was not professional and it had his original notes written in a pencil... I was expecting a binder type report (received that type with my previous inspection).
When you spend $775 on home inspection, you expect all your concerns to be addressed in the report and have a fair shot to make a decision based on his findings - he not only did not address them, but neglected to notice them in the 1st place.
Very disappointed in John Nicolai Home Inspection based in Pleasantville.

  • Rich was terrific! Even before the scheduled time for the appointment, Rich was on site inspecting the exterior and had already taken many pictures and notes. He let me tag along during the inspection and was a wealth of information and advice. He was a pleasure to chat with and was quite patient with all of my questions. When issues were spotted, he had no problem letting me know what I could fix myself and when I should hire a professional.
He inspected everything in the home and it was easy to tell that he has a lot of experience and knowledge. He checked for termites and showed me afterward where the building had a prevention system in place. At the end of the inspection, he accepted a credit card on site using his iPad - convenient! We received a complete report, with pictures, through email the same day.
I would definitely recommend True View to anybody and I will hire them again in the future.

  • I hired Chuck to do a home inspection prior to purchasing my first home.  Chuck was extremely thorough, knowledgeable, professional and personable.  He really looks out for you as the client and protects your interests.  He scheduled my inspection promptly, took the time to explain everything we wanted to know, and even showed up early.  I would absolutely recommend his services and wouldn't hesitate to use him again!

  • I'm writing this a full year after our home inspection. it didn't seem to make sense to write it immediately after - we wouldn't have known if Jeff missed something. Well I'm very happy to report that he missed nothing. As other reviewers have mentioned, Jeff is very professional, very thorough, and happens to be a fun guy to be around. He answered all our questions as we followed him around during the whole inspection and we learned a lot (it was our first home purchase)
he provides a very detailed report, with pictures and recommendations about addressing issues. i haven't seen other reports, but i can't imagine a more detailed or thorough report.
bring a notebook and try to write down his tips. aside from the report, the and quot;off the cuffand quot; recommendations, like how to patch up insulation holes, products that may be available at Home Depot that will fix minor problems for a low cost, etc - these recommendations won't appear in the report, but are great things to know about. so i suggest writing down those things if you can. but be quick, he moves fast.
Jeff was very clear that he would be available via phone to answer any questions we may have had after the inspection.
he was also a neutral party, telling me that our realtor probably shouldn't be present, because she may be noting our reaction to certain things, and keeping that in her cards for a negotiation with the sellers. meaning, if we later asked her to ask the sellers to fix a particular thing, but heard us say during the inspection and quot;eh, it's not a big deal to usand quot; she might use that info in talking to the seller's agent and say something like: and quot;the buyers are asking you to fix this, but i don't think they'll care much if you say noand quot;. he even offered to tell her to get lost for us.
all in all, Jeff was fantastic and i would recommend him. again, we did this inspection more than a year ago, and since moving in last summer, we've found nothing major that he should've caught. i call that a success.

  • Our technician Yoni was very knowledgeable and he walked us through the entire house and the report. He was also at the current home and walked through with us. In addition to looking for problems, he explained things to us. As new time buyers, he let us know what he would recommend as general maintenance that we should keep up annually or even more frequently than that. He showed us how to do it. It was like having our dads walk through the house and tell us what to take care of in our house. It is really nice to know that we now know how to care for our new home and keep it up to par in terms of maintenance. They also offer service where they register all the appliances and once a month they send a newsletter with basic home tips for the season as well as let one know if there are any recalls or any issues with any of their existing appliances like their fridge or stove or laundry and if they need to think about replacing any of them anytime soon. It's really nice to have that on a watch list where someone is looking out for those and there are recalls all the time. It's a real nice piece of mind service and even though we've heard that it's kind of a higher priced service, we don't know that the price is high for this area. We didn't have a problem with the price. We would highly recommend them.
