    Last year we purchased 12 Arbor Vitae for a hedge. Eight of which died. Possibly due to bad winter although three others that were purchased from another local , albeit more expensive nursery survived and thrived. We took proper precaution prior to winter and shielded the new trees with a staked barrier to protect them from the road salt and harsh winds.

    Early in may we purchased 8 more to replace the dead ones. They did not take any responsibility as to the death of the trees we purchased from them and told us that many of their trees died as well. They gave us a small discount towards the purchase of 8 new ones and stated that it would take 2-3 weeks before they come to plant them. After 7 weeks and many irate calls that were frustrating later they came. We were in the kitchen having breakfast waiting for them to come literally 50 yards away from the planting site. They came like thieves in the night and literally planted all 8 in less than 15 minutes, left the dead trees in the front of our property although they had promised to take them away, did not ring the bell to ask us were to plant them and therefore planted them in wrong area. One thing I give them credit is they were so quite even our two dogs did not hear.

    We recently moved to this area from 10 miles south of here. We have used other local nurseries such as Rosedale and Sprainbrook and had excellent experiences with them.

    This is our first online rating of a merchant because we like to give everyone a benefit of a doubt but the frustration we experienced with this place forced us to.

    This place is AWFULL. They are rude, incompetent and unreliable. Save yourself the frustration. There are so many other reliable places in the area so you can easily avoid this place.

    My husband & I cannot say enough great things about this company!! Frank (owner) was so helpful throughout the entire process - providing different suggestions and pricing options. His staff was clean, professional, & super efficient! The black vinyl fence looks great in our yard and has been amazing in giving us the privacy we were hoping for (dog loves it, too)!! We plan on using them for additional projects in the future & would recommend them to all!

    Fence: good. Service: bad. 
    We called in early April to have our fences replaced, hoping that the work would be done before the garden was full, since one of the fences goes through the middle of shrubs and perennials. By mid-April, I had an estimate that I thought was fair, and they said it would take a couple of weeks for installation. I put down a 50% deposit and waited. No one contacted me.
    After 3 weeks I called -- the fence wasn't in yet.  I waited. I called again at the end of May. No one was able to talk to me. They told me to call back (no offer of taking a message). Finally, I called again and they said they could install on June 1 -- a month after they initially said.
    I removed and protected the vines that were on the current fence, and knew that, at this time of year, there would be some damage to the plants. I wasn't able to be home for installation, but my adult sons were. I also gave them a letter with my cell phone in case there were any questions, and let them know there were people home also.  I completely forgot about a separate short section of fence that is used to support a climbing hydrangea and roses. 
    In the afternoon, I got a call from someone asking for the balance of the payment. I told her I hadn't seen the fence yet, and wouldn't be giving her my credit card without seeing it. I said I'd send payment after I see the fence. She told me to call her the next day with a credit card.
    The fence looked great. But the large climbing hydrangea I had forgotten to remove had been ripped from the ground. Gone! Completely. I was a little shocked that they hadn't called me or knocked on the door to say there was still a giant plant on the fence they needed to replace. I'm obviously someone who cares about her garden (BTW -- it takes 2 years or so to get a climbing hydrangea to bloom after planting). 
    I took a day to decide whether to complain or ask for a replacement. I finally decided it was my fault for forgetting to remove the hydrangea before they arrived. Though communication on their part would have avoided the whole issue. So I paid the balance through my online banking; it takes a couple of days for the check to arrive from there.
    Today (Friday) I got another call asking for the balance. (No one has called to ask if I'm satisfied with the fence.) I was told, "You said you'd send the check Monday (the day the fence was installed), and it hasn't arrived. I replied, "No, I didn't say I'd mail it Monday."  "Yes, you did, it says so here -- and it hasn't arrived yet." I hung up, regretting that I had given them my cell phone so they could bother me at work. They called back a couple of more times but I didn't answer. I assume they'll lose any interest in me when they get the check.
    The fence is fine, but this kind of service is outrageous. I can't ever remember being hounded for payment like this. I would not use them again.

    The installation took one day by two workers and a follow up visit was made by Ruben to inspect the fence posts. It has been a couple of weeks now and we have not had any problems with the installation. The workers were professional and mindful of our requests such as not discarding wastes in our neighbor's cluttered yard. My wife and I are very satisfied with the Colony Fencing company. From the estimates to the completion of the job, we found them very honest and professional.
