    Above & Beyond Contracting
Over the course of 2 years restoring the interior of our house, we dealt with many professionals. Bud Moore is the only one I can recommend without hesitation. It was a severely stressful time in our lives, and Bud was always extremely responsive, friendly, and truthful. He gave us hope there was actually a light at the end of the tunnel. When he said he would be at the house, he was there. I am an interior designer by trade, and had a very particular vision and standards when it came to how I wanted the home to look. Bud was patient and truly made the effort to understand and collaborate, and as a result exceeded my expectations. I love my home! The attention to detail was excellent, and he will still come to the house to correct any minor punch list items that occur. His subcontractors were all very friendly and respectful as well. This was Part I of a major renovation, and we will without a doubt be hiring him for Part 2. Of all the awful people we dealt with, I am so thankful that we chose the absolute correct contractor for our job, because in the end, he is the most important person on the job. I shudder to think, and know it is true, that we would still not be back in our house if we had chosen another contractor.

    Connecticut Basements
They trenched the basement and put in the perforated piping so any water through the walls would be pumped out properly. They are very efficient. I would highly recommend. They workers were very pleasant and completed this monster project in about 4 days.

    All Dry Basement Systems LLC
Based on what the company representative said, the company seemed somewhat limited in the scope of services the company can perform. I was looking for services to prevent water infiltration into my home basement, and the focus of this company seemed to be, “once water infiltrates through the basement walls, how to control that water inside the basement.”  He didn't seem to have a particular familiarity or knowledge about keeping water out of the foundation, and in particular wasn't able to speak about the remediation options available for preventing water infiltration. It seemed that his plan was to just hire a subcontractor to perform the work and he didn't really get into any details of what they might do.  To me he seemed to be focused on bigger jobs and a little job like mine (infiltration along about 20’ or so) didn't seem to be of much interest.  I did not pay additional money. He made an appointment within a reasonable time frame. It was a matter of a few days. They didn't give a price for any work. They didn't give a scope of services for the work.  What he focused on is taking water that comes through the walls and then channelling it into a sump pump or something. That was not my goal.

    Lisi Contracting
There are not enough great things I can say about this contracting company!! Both Valentino & Ben are extremely knowledgable about their craft. They have been responsive to our needs & have made themselves available to answer any questions we had both along the way & even when we had concluded the projects. Their workers are amazing, polite, friendly & clean. Having been under renovation for a year, I can honestly say that I miss them in my home & would use nobody else from here on out!! I can rest assured that we are in good hands & that everything is being managed appropriately when my husband & I are at work. You will not be disappointed using Lisi Contracting & most importantly, they are secure in the work they do & make it fun every step of the way!! Thanks to them, my husband & I have built our dream home :)

    Michael Bellantoni Inc
An experienced and capable firm.  Accommodating, professional and knowledgeable.  No complaints.  The plants were planted in November, so I am waiting to see how they look this year.  I plan to use Bellantoni again for more design and installation services this year.

    B-Dry Waterproofing and Foundation Repair
We hired B-Dry because they had done such a good job of waterproofing our basement, but this most recent experience didn't go as well.  First, the workers weren't very professional, and they weren't dressed in uniform despite the fact that the company's brochure states otherwise.  Specifically, they used some of our own tools to complete the work, and they didn't clean out our wheelbarrow after mixing cement in it.  Secondly, the company wasn't very responsive when we called to express some issues with the initial work, but they did send people back to make corrections.  When we called a second time to complain about the lack of professionalism with the second set of workers we never received a follow up call.  Ultimately, the work has held up and is keeping water out of the garage.

    Vulcan Basement Waterproofing
Everyone from the first contact to the people doing the labor were professional, courteous , and wonderful. We had an unexpected issue arise which was first attributed to the epoxy used however that turned out to be false. There response back to us was the height of good customer service. These folks know there stuff they are first class!

We purchased an old house last year that was in some disrepair. We had a baby on the way and we realized that we had a fairly serious pest infestation (mice, bats) and a damp basement with bad quality air. After a negative experience with an exterminator who used toxic chemicals without resolution we decided to find someone who understood how to solve the problem in other ways. Brian came over and did a full inspection and provided us with a detailed list of issues and what he felt were the top priority items. We liked his "no obligation, no pressure" presentation and his obvious knowledge of old houses and all the various dimensions of our problem both on the pest side and the moisture side of the problem.
Once the work started we received daily updates, often with cell phone pictures that Brian sent to us of the ongoing work. The onsite workers were meticulously clean and courteous and we were thrilled with the results. I now can use a basement room as my home office and we are totally pest-free. I feel that Brian has made the home safe for our baby and I would highly recommend Thoroughspect. We intend to use them again for another round of improvements this spring.

    Connecticut Basement Systems
Their crews for the demo and both the waterproofing and renovation were great: on time, cleaned up, beautiful work. The estimator/salesman Tarn did a fabulous job in working within our budget without any high-pressure sales tactics, and was so patient with all my questions. I had first considered using a different contractor to do the renovation, but in the end, even if it might have been a bit more expensive, they made the waterproofing to renovation process seamless and hassle-free.

    Vulcan Basement Waterproofing
After reading the report from the previous member, I realize how lucky my husband and I were with Vulcan. I feel their pain and was inspired to write this after reading through their experience.

We are still living trough our experience with Vulcan. Although the salesman was pleasant and seemingly knowledgeable, all else beyond our experience with him was horrific. The one thing that was strange to me was that no one came to look at the house to evaluate what would be needed to stop the water. Don was the only person that came to the house. What he said would be a simple fix with a french drain on the back wall of the basement and an additional sump pump became a sloppy and unprofessional mess.

The workers were not on time, the cement was not mixed properly nor was it finished level. It was poured so that the floor in the basement is no longer flat. If we ever want to finish our basement, the entire floor will need to be leveled. And worse than that, the floor actually crumbled because of the poor mixture ratios used. The cement was so sandy that the heels of our shoes would actually crumble the floor and leave indents and a sandy residue. The floor actually started to absorb the water that was still coming into the basement.

The management refused to send someone out to look ar the job. We eventually hired an engineer to do a report on the workmanship and define what had been done incorrectly. So $495.00 later, Vulcan sent workers to reaper the cement. The repair equated to a substandard patch job that left the floor looking worse than before. When my husband called to complain, Frank, the manager, was rude vulgar and thuggish. After multiple calls with much abusive retorts from Frank and no resolve, we decided the aggravation wasn't worth it and reported Vulcan to the Better Business Bureau.

Our basement still leaks with the exception that now the water comes up through the areas of the floor where the original cement was denigrated. How companies like this stay in business is beyond me. Hopefully our fellow members will be spared these experiences after reading these horror stories from other members. Thank you to Angie's List for giving us the opportunity to help others.
