  • Definitely “old school technology” the process was long and took several trips to complete his work but eventually most of the problems were resolved. I have since hired another exterminator for additional problems who took care of all concerns quickly without multiple trips and cleaned up some of the remaining concerns from the first exterminator. So for that reason I would go with the second company firstintheguture

  • We hired Benson to repair our lawn after finding out that we had chinch bugs. While Benson does not handle treatment for insect damage, they referred us to Highpoint Lawn Service. So we contacted Highpoint to spray the lawn to get rid of the I sectsand then Benson to repair the damage in late summer-Fall 2017. When the grass started coming up in early spring 2018, it was about 10% grass and 90% weeds!! Every kind of wee imaginable! I contacted Scott, the owner in early Spring who said he has on his list to come back out and add more topsoil and seed. I said I wanted him to put down a better quality of seed because all I had coming up was weeds. After my husband and I made repeated calls, because they never came out, which they ignored, they finally called and said they were going to come out in late June while we were going through a heat wave. When they came out they were going to put down the same seed. We said no again - that they needed to put something higher quality down which they refused. Meanwhile, Highpoint was treating the lawn according to their recommended treatment schedule. They came out 3 times and after their third visit, the following week we noticed the chinch bugs were back! We contacted Highpoint who refused to take responsibility and said to my husband that they only treated for the chinch bugs once which was the previous fall! My husband said to them, you were just out and you didn’t notice the insects were back? The person started to tell my husband he had a degree in this kind of thing and you usually only treat once. Meanwhile we sank about $1,400 on lawn treatment and repair between these two companies that refer and work together and nobody wants to own it. I have since spoken to 2 other people in my neighborhood who have used these companies and said they stopped after being billed for services not performed. My recommendation to anyone considering using either Benson Enterprises or Highpoint Lawn Service, is DON’T! My lawn looks far worse now than before and I have had to pay someone else to do the work I paid both of them to do a year ago.

  • With the information I gave them about what happened, they diagnosed my problem and fixed it in under a half hour. (It was a failed neutral connection in an outlet, that caused several outlets and some lights to go out.) I really appreciated having two people show up. That may be why the cost was a tad high (IMHO), but two people almost always work better than one.

  • RUINED OUR FLOOR AND WALL AND REFUSES TO FIX OR PAY FOR IT - Contracted CS Services to mount a television over our fireplace in early July 2018. Placed a $50.00 Deposit on the contract for his services. Mr. Campbell arrived to install. He stated he would just need to cut out a section of drywall on the side or the fireplace and place a outlet cover over it. He stated he would run the wires all through the wall and we would only have the outlet visible. Mr. Campbell proceeded to cutout the outlet area and went into the unfinished part of the basement to drill into the wall area to run the cords into the outlet on our first floor next to the fireplace. Once him and I proceeded upstairs and we observed the area, it became clear that he drilled a hole in out 1 year old hardwood floor that was approximately a foot and a half away from the wall where he was trying to access. Our discussion was that I would have our floor guy, replace that section of the floor, sand and stain. He agreed at this point. I contact our flooring company Upswing Flooring (Mena Tawadros, President) to get an estimate. He sent an estimate for $1,350.00 plus tax to repair the floor, sand and restain. I contact Mr. Campbell at CS Services and we agreed that we would repair the floor on August 13th, 2018 since that was a date that Upswing Flooring had available. We discussed that we were going to a hotel on August 12th, 13th and 14th due to the fumes from the flooring repair. Mr. Campbell did not contact us and never arranged the deposit or payment for the flooring repair so I was contacted on Monday that Upswing never showed. Mr. Campbell told me that he didn't have the money and there were other things that were more important. He asked we wait. I contacted Mr. Campbell 08/21/2018 and he stated he would pay us for the flooring, wall repair and hotel reimbursement. Called and text again 10/04/2018. He returned our deposit of $50.00 and sent me another $50.00 and said thats all he has to pay.

  • For the last two years, I have had an invasion of yellow jackets into small crevices on the exterior of the house. I contacted Terminix and they notified me that the treatment of the yellow jackets was something that my contract covered. Six appointments were scheduled over the course of five months. The first Terminix representative stated that he was "very scared of heights and couldn't go on the roof." The second Terminix agent that showed up to the house stated that "I don't ride with a ladder." The third scheduled appt was a no-show and the fourth scheduled appointment resulted in a different agent showing up and doing a mild spray and he told me to contact him on his mobile phone number to get the rest of the job done. I attempted to contact the agent, as requested, on his mobile phone and he never responded back. The fifth apt was scheduled with an office manager who never showed up. Mind you, I am a physician and canceling patients for this incredibly poor service and incredibly poor professionalism.

  • I am very dissatisfied with Tyler LaMar, agent and Howard Hanna Real Estate Services for their lack of professional and ethical behavior. Ms. Tyler LaMar, was paid to serve as a "dual seller and buyer agent" in my recent purchase of 4 Dover Road, Pittsford, NY for $320,000. As the Buyer's agent, she was expected to "represent the interest of and advocate on behalf of the buyer". However, Ms. Lamar appeared most interested in quickly closing the deal and collecting the additional 3% buyer’s agent commission ($9,600). She minimized issues and concerns that I communicated such as the absence of a sump pump and discharge plumbing that were listed in her MLS. Ms. LaMar pressured me to include a "price escalator clause" in the contract that could have added up to $10,000 in costs, if I had not removed it the next day. At the pre-closing house inspection on June 5th (that I had to request from TL), the house was occupied and a number of property defects were not visible, due to furniture and personal belonging covering them. Ms. LaMar never scheduled a final inspection of the property (in violation of the occupancy agreement) after the sellers moved and before we took occupancy of the house on June 11, 2017. Ms. LaMar never took initiative to identify any of the obvious property defects or advocate on my behalf that the seller make necessary repairs and maintenance. I shared my concerns in a customer survey to Robert Maves, manager of the Howard Hanna Pittsford office in June 2017, but never received any response. I also wrote to Armand D'Alfonso, President of Howard Hanna New York on 9/14/17 and shared my concerns again, but never received any response. In summary, I am very dissatisfied with my recent $320,000 house purchase experience with Howard Hanna and clearly feel that neither Ms. LaMar nor Howard Hanna Real Estate represented my buyer's interest or deserve a $9600 buyer’s agent commission. I find their lack of response to significant professional and ethical concerns that I have communicated, very troubling. As a result, I do not recommend listing or buying real estate from Howard Hanna or their agents. And, I do not recommend ever using the listing agent, anyone in their firm or anyone they recommend (ie. another agent, attorney, house inspector, mortgage broker) to represent your interests. The real estate industry is filled with financial conflicts of interest and it is worth your time to identify an independent: buyer’s agent, house inspector, mortgage broker and attorney that are highly ethical and will represent your interests in the largest financial commitment you are likely to make.

  • They were prompt (7am) and continued working throughout the day. They came back the following day and finished after 2 hours of work. The job was well executed, they were friendly, polite, careful to have debris, nails, etc. contained on tarps and windows/doors shielded with plywood so there was no mess when they finished. It actually was cleaner around the house than when they started. I didn’t have to worry about my small dog walking outside afterward because they used a magnetic nail finder to screen the yard. I was very impressed! My carpenter is the one who hired them. He acted as the contractor on the job because I had other jobs to be completed after the roofing was done. He has known Todd M. Bohrer for a long time and knew he did quality work. This is my third roof on the house (due to my 1st being an absolute nightmare by a company that is no longer in business, the second was a good job, but with storms damage in this area my garage & house rooves were done at different times and the garage needed replacing). I decided to do the skylights whose seals generally last 30 years, and mine were up for renewal, so I decided to do everything and get the expensive stuff done. With my carpenter/renovator, they did some removal of plywood to fix some ice dam problems and gave me good feedback. I would hire them again in a minute!

  • Joe Andreassi and his crew did everything he said he was going to do. The work exceeded my expectations. The new porch is a work of beautiful craftmanship. I could not have been happier. They came when he said they would come. They all worked very hard all day. They obviously took pride in their work and it showed. They had very good time management. They finished the job in less time than I thought it would take and they did not cut any corners. We are totally pleased with Joe Andreassi's work. He knows his craft.
