    Penfield Hardware And Handyman
I have a handyman that I love. He does it all - electrical, plumbing, odd jobs around the house, and he just fixed a couple of sliding doors. He has done multiple jobs for me. I think his price is great and he is just a great guy. I would hire him again and again. We actually walked around the property, and I showed him a couple other jobs I was thinking about and he gave me some suggestions and I am going to have him back again in a couple of months. He has given me a quote for replacing my bathroom sinks and I will have him do that at some point as well once I get all the materials. I will absolutely use him again. He is a wonderful preson to help me out.

    1. Our deck has a large, high peaked overhang with tongue-in-groove siding.  One night a bunch of the siding fell crashing to the deck.  Dave was able to keep costs low by replacing the fallen planks so we didn't have to buy new ones.  We had some matching stain so he stained the splintered areas.  He also replaced and stained about 12 ft. of rotten fascia.
    2. The jamb beneath the back door (a double door with large glass insets) had swollen over time and the door became extremely difficult to open and close, and was getting worse.  Dave spent many hours leveling the jamb and re-hanging the doors.  Now they work beautifully.

    Mr Fussy Contracting
Scott Reeves and Mr. Fussy/Reliance Contracting transformed our house.  Over a two year period we made a commitment to Scott and his company.  He was meticulous in his analysis.  Scott climbed on our roof, went in our attic, and took photos.  He gave us a brief overview and showed a few photos to us describing what he'd like to do.  A week later Scott met with us and went over a detailed report of what he would do for the job.  Scott would only use quality materials, and wouldn't compromise on the time needed to do the work or the crews he used.
The roofing job took about a week.  The crew ripped off the old roof material quickly, and then replaced about 20 sheets of plywood. The roofing crew treated any areas where there was mold with a mold inhibitor, and replaced any plywood and facia material that was suspect.  Scott started with us each day, and then inspected the work at the end of the day.  When there were questions or issues, Scott always took care of them, including replacing gutters that weren't the right color.
The soffit work took about three days.  I was amazed at how carefully the crew worked, showing me how areas looked, asking me if I was okay with that "look".  Several times I was fine with the work and the crew changed it because they didn't like the overall look.  I was pleasantly surprised with how picky the crew was.
We had to wait on the siding work, and after the winter, when we contacted Scott, I expected him to tell me that there would be an increase in costs due the the half year between bidding the job and doing it.  I was wrong.  Scott even said that if he heard of a cost increase he would let us know and would purchase the materials prior to any increase.
The siding job took about two weeks.  We had many problems with weather, but the crew would typically work from 10-7 each day.  At the end of each day they took extra time to rake up the lawn and plant beds because we have dogs that love to sniff around.  I found the crew to be superb.  They were friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough.  Multiple times I was asked my opinion on the job and I felt that the crew had a sense of pride in the work they did.
Overall, the past two years has been a truly positive experience.  Our house is completely different.  The work was quality work, and Scott was always within the budget he set for us at the beginning of the job.  I can't recommend Scott and Mr. Fussy highly enough.

    Final Touch Carpentry
Dave and Joe (All Around Home Improvement) make a great team. Joe provided the estimates and overall project management and Dave provided ideas, vision and professionalism. We were so pleased with how our three rooms came out. They helped us figure out how to get more space out of a very small bathroom, how to raise up a low ceiling and how to knock out some walls to open up a tight hallway. Dave built custom shoeracks and cubbys in our mudroom that are fantastic! Overall the team was professional, prompt, courteous and got the job done on time and generally on budget. We kept adding things, but all extras we wanted. We felt they treated us fairly and explained all costs clearly. Dave and Joe and their staff make a great team and were wonderful to work with. We'd hire them back (and plan to!) in a minute.

    JEC Construction Inc
JEC did an excellent job, though progress was a little slow at times and in one or two cases I needed to insist on thing being done the way I wanted. Overall, however, the experience was very good. They dug the foundation, poured footers, and laid block wall. On top of that they built a frame addition with a roofline that we approved. In fact, they suggested a roofline improvement to our original design that we liked and adopted. Costs were always clear and up front and they stayed within their budget.

    Do It All Contracting
Doug was hired by All American Millwork (a Home Depot door manufacturer) to replace a defective door we'd ordered months ago.  He asked me to make an appointment for 5 PM on a Saturday (?!), but when the time came he didn't show and didn't call.  9 days later he called saying there'd been an emergency and he wanted to set up a second appointment for 8 AM on a Tuesday.  He called at 10 after 8 that Tuesday asking me what time our appointment was.  When I told him he was already 10 minutes late, he said he'd "jump in the truck and be right there."  2 and a half hours later he hadn't arrived so I called him.  He'd had "another emergency" and he was "just 5-10 minutes from our house."  When he arrived 20 minutes later, he immediately decided everyone else who'd previously
looked at the door problem didn't know what they were doing and that instead of replacing the door, all it needed was a little WD40 and a new latch plate.  When I asked him instead to hear my explanation of what the problem was he huffy and told me he didn't want the job if I was going to be difficult.  I explained that all I wanted was a functional door and he might be the best door guy in the world, but if he didn't understand what was wrong with the door, he wouldn't be able to fix it. Eventually I called the Home Depot to ask how they wanted to resolve the matter.  They contacted All American who contacted Doug who asked him to leave.

    Final Touch Carpentry
was in a jam and needed work done quickly. Dave promised to get it done in time for my opening and did exactly that. He came a week earlier, delivered an estimate within 24 hours. Very reasonable. Work quality was excellent. Plan on using Final Touch again within weeks. Highly recommended.

    DCC Construction Inc. of Rochester
Dave was excellent. Although it was a relatively small job (2 days) he arrived on time and worked cleanly. His attention to detail was perfect and the finished job was 100% satisfactory. We'll be using him again in the New Year. Highly recommended.

    ROCHESTER RENOVATION
After our new golden retriever ate all the corners of our kitchen cabinets, I finally resigned myself to the fact that we needed a new kitchen long before I ever thought we would. I spent a long time looking until I found the perfect combination of cabinets, hardware, and counter tops, including the perfect person to do the job. From start to finish the skilled carpenter from Preferred Craftsman included us in all the decision-making, as he transformed our kitchen into a masterpiece. The finished product was better than I ever thought it could be. He was courteous, neat, always cleaned up after himself at the end of each work day. Each detail was completed with perfection. If I ever have any major improvements to do in my house again, I would definitely call Preferred Craftsman.

Excellent job! One wall was out of plumb by approx. 3/4 which Luis straightened up and did a beautiful job. When he finished, the space was plumb and square and ready for tiling.
