    Richard Konys DMD
I've had both a wisdom tooth removal and a root canal performed at East Side, and both were extremely pleasant experiences with NO PAIN at all. The staff is wonderful and friendly, and both Dr. Konys and Dr. Katsarsky go to extra lengths to make sure that their patients aren't anxious when coming in for a procedure. They also schedule a consultation before any procedure so that you know exactly what they plan to do and what all of your options for treatment are. East Side is by far the best clinic in Syracuse for dental surgery and endodontics, and I recommend it to all of my friends and family.

    James M. Vlassis, DDS
I first met Dr Vlassis several years ago when I sought a second opinion on the price of a dental procedure. Without being prompted with the other providers cost he came in significantly lower, and I had him perform the work. He is now my regular Periodontist. In this morst recent dental event I was faced with the loss of a molar with a fractured root. In the initial consult he recommended immediate extraction to minimize chance of infection - and as I later learned this was very good advice, having narrowly escaped more difficulties. I highly recommend Dr Vlassis

    Craybas, Dr. Richard A.
He is an excellent dentist and we've been seeing him for years. He saved us an awful lot of money by not having to go to the oral surgeon.

    James M. Vlassis, DDS
I had major problems with a particular tooth. I had been in severe pain for over a week, had seen an endodontist who told me he could not guarantee a root canal would work, so I went back to my general dentist who recommended Dr. Vlassis for extraction/implantantion of an implant. Dr. Vlassis saw me the same day for consultation. He looked at the tooth, told me what he could do, and what to expect. I was given an appointment for a few days later. I probably could have had the procedure even sooner because the front desk people are very accommodating. I was terrified that the whole thing was going to produce a lot of pain, but Dr. Vlassis's office offers a lot of options for pain control, including total sedation, nitrous oxide, and valium. I was given a prescription for valium to take an hour before my appointment, which I did take. I didn't use the nitrous oxide. Dr. Vlassis is patient and kind, and his staff is also. He explained everything he was doing. He checked frequently to ask if I was experiencing any pain, and gave additional novacaine as needed. Honestly, it wasn't bad. I've had fillings that were worse. He talked me through the whole procedure, step by step. Amazingly, I haven't had much pain since having the implant put in either. I took over the counterpain meds immediately following the procedure, and a prescribed narcotic the first night just in case, but I don't think I really needed the narcotic. I was surprised how little pain I had the following morning. I am aware of the implant in my mouth, but it's not bothering me that much. Aside from the cost of the actual graft and implant, I wouldn't hesitate to have another one, especially with Dr. Vlassis. He's super nice, and it was mostly pain free -- just a little discomfort due to an infection in the tooth. When he was finished, I almost didn't believe him. He's great and so is his office.

    Gerald Danaher DDS
I was in excruciating pain one night from a tooth, I called Dr Danaher's office and left a message as they were closed. He called me back in the morning and agreed to see me on Friday, when the office was closed. He met me at the office and did a a temporary filling/crown as I had an abscess. He took an inpression for the crown and the temporary work lasted until the crown, which had to be ordered, arrived and work was finished a few weeks later.

    Alexander, Dr. Howard J
When I arrived for my first appointment, I was asked to fill out a very thorough questionnaire re health history, medical problems, and  dental concerns.  Since I had fainted in a dental chair a few times in the past, I was honest about being apprehensive.  Dr. Alexander did a careful examination, and my apprehension eased considerably. His manner was calm, gentle, and welcoming. At the end of the exam, he said he would mail me a complete dental evaluation and recommendations for treatment.  I can't remember now if he said anything specific that day about the condition of my teeth.  He may have, but I knew from my friend's recommendation that I would receive a full written report before deciding whether to proceed. When I received the report, I was surprised at the recommendation for a more intensive cleaning than I had received in the past.  I think it was called "planing and scraping."  I'd always had regular cleaning at six-month intervals, although it might have been as much as a year without cleaning since my previous dentist had retired and I'd put off finding a new dentist.  Before going ahead with a procedure I'd never heard of before that sounded pretty extreme, I wanted to be sure it was really needed.  I mentioned my concerns to my family doctor and asked her to refer me to another dentist for a second opinion. She referred me to her dentist.  After examining my teeth, he confirmed the need for the procedure.  That was enough to convince me. I returned to Dr. Alexander's office for the planing and scraping.  The hygienist was quiet, friendly, and very competent. The procedure was not unduly painful, as I remember. I have stayed with Dr. Alexander ever since, and I can honestly say he is the best dentist I've ever had. Procedures have included four crowns, two caps, replacement of some old fillings, and probably some new fillings I've forgotten.  I always feel I'm in good hands with Dr. Alexander.  The office atmosphere is quiet, calm, and friendly, because that's the way he is. He explains things very clearly.  He will often pause during a procedure to ask if you need a break, if you are doing OK. He is patient and meticulous in everything he does. For example, in positioning a crown or refining a filling to match your bite, he takes time to be sure the fit is exact, the bite is correct, and you feel comfortable with it.   You never get the feeling that he is rushing you to say it's OK. The office equipment is quite up-to-date.  When explaining a procedure, he can show you a live camera image of that area in your mouth on a large overhead screen.  That's very helpful in understanding why something needs to be done.  Crowns can be made right in the office with a machine that uses computer technology to create the crown. You no longer have to wait for the molds to be sent out to a lab for fabrication. The three hygienists I've experienced there have all been very competent and friendly.  They have been especially helpful at explaining the particulars of good home dental hygiene and the reasons for it. Dr. Alexander's long-time nurse/assistant knows just when things need to be done, what tools are needed, etc. They have worked together for so long that communication and interaction is smooth, quiet, expert.  And besides that, she's fun and interesting to talk with before and after the procedure. The secretary always has a smile and friendly greeting for you. What more can I say? I started out with some skepticism and a lot of apprehension because of some past bad experiences in a dentist's office.  I'm now completely comfortable at Dr. Alexander's, trust his judgment and expertise, and actually enjoy going there . . .  as much as one can "enjoy" going to a dentist !

This dentist is the BEST! I have been going there for over 22 years. He has a way of putting in the needle so that you NEVER feel it. I like the pain free approach! He is a very kind person and a top notch dentist in my book! I gave a "b" for availability, only because he is very, very good and therefore he has a long waiting line usually. - So expect to wait a week or two for an appointment. He always gets the filling to fit perfectly. You know, its how it feels when you bite down on it- just right! I went to other dentists before finding him, and he is much better.

They're very professional, nice and gentle.  The hygenist there is good too.  She's very sweet.  I don't like dentists, but they make you feel so at ease.  I would recommend them to others.
