    Szczepanski Construction
Called Szczepanski Construction for needed septic work. I was contacted back within a day and Steve (the owner) was out to assess the situation within a few days. They were able to fit me into their schedule almost immediately and all work was done at my house within a day and a half. They were very easy to talk to and kept me informed as to what they were doing as the work progressed. It became obvious that they are very good at what they do and I felt like I was in good hands. The work area was left so clean and nicely leveled off that you'd never know any work had been done there, except that the grass was missing. The bill came in for less than I was expecting and I couldn't be more pleased with their performance. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone and do plan to use them again for some future work needed on my property.

    Kiefer-Randall Construction & Remodeling LLC
Started on May 8 2012.  Removed bathroom vanity and toilet to lay new carpet tiles.  Created water leaks in sink and toilet lines and didn't fix them until I brought it to their attention.  Took me a while to clean it up and dry it out after the leak was repaired.  New windows were not ?wrapped? on the outside until the second week after they were installed.  The inside wall, of one of the new windows, had spray foam insulation on the wall.  The trim will not cover, I?ll have to paint.   Came home one day and found dirt tracked in my bedroom.  There wasn't any work being done in my bedroom.  They had also been in the upstairs and there wasn't any work being done there.  Came home one day and found a bottle of Sports drink in my refrigerator.   My livingroom ceiling fan was taken down and damaged in the process.  I had to buy a new one, it was installed free of charge.  New Bathroom door was installed and had to be adjusted three times so it would stay open.   When the new bathroom window was installed the bathroom tub was chipped in the process even though I had asked them twice to be careful.  I have a dark blemish where they tried to repair the tub.  I'm not happy because this shouldn?t have happened in the first place.   But now it's November and the biggest problem is I have mice running around in my livingroom ceiling.  The livingroom ceiling is supposed to be insulated.  If it is, why am I hearing mice running around in the ceiling?  I contacted Jim Randall and his response is  "I am not a rodent expert, but I do know they can and WILL burrow through insulation and other materials. You are going to have to call an exterminator."   My feeling is if  my livingroom ceiling is insulated, then someone has to prove it.  Mice would have a very difficult time "burrowing" through insulation and it sounds like they have free  reign.   My Opinion of Kiefer-Randall:   If I was at home when the work was being done, there weren?t any problems.  It only happened when I wasn?t there.  I want to be able to trust someone coming into my home.  I don?t want to take time off from work to babysit.  I expect work to be guaranteed.  The job started on May 8, 2012 but never finished until August 16, 2012 for a job that was supposed to take 1.5 weeks.

    Martin Plumbing & Heating
They are extremely honest, and always show up within about 2 hours of when we have called them.

They are the kind of people we can leave keys for and they come in and do their work, taking care not to let our pets escape.

We will continue to use them!

    Mr Rooter Plumbing of Binghamton
A down stairs toilet hat already been removed so the technician, after getting his equipment in place, was able to send the cable directly into the main septic line. I suspect if the toilet was in place their would have been an extra charge. The cleanout didn't take long, maybe 45 minutes. The equipment was removed and the area cleaned up. We went over the details and paid the bill by credit card and we now have a working system

I contracted with Tim for some minor repairs. Tim was punctual and responsive throughout the estimate process.

Before work was scheduled to start, my house along with my entire town and much of the region was indundated by the Tropical Storm Lee flooding disaster, and I had to gut my entire first floor. Tim worked with me to survey the damage, prepare an estimate for new repairs, work out financing and reschedule a complete remodeling.

This was obviously a very stressful process in the post-flood chaos and did not go as smoothly on either of our ends as I believe it would have under more normal circumstances. After initial delays, work was performed as promised. Tim's crew worked hard and communications were good during a time when many contractors have been impossible to reach and uninterested in dealing with a small old house.

Auchinachie Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning
Like others hit by Tropical Storm Lee flooding, I am scrambling for contractors, in particular plumbing and heating as my furnace, water heater, and appliances were all destroyed and plumbing was damaged.  With limited state disaster-assistance appliance rebates running out I had to purchase a furnace directly to avoid losing the rebate since I could not find a contractor to sell me one in time, as contractors either did not return my calls or gave me the runaround.

I called Auchinachie and explained the exact work I needed, that I was not interested in playing games but wanted an estimate if Auchinachie was available and willing to perform part or all of this work.  I was scolded for not calling Auchinachie first, told that other than possibly installing my own furnace, Auchinachie was ready to assist, and given an appointment for Tuesday the following week.

Their estimator showed up on Tuesday, reviewed the scope of work needed and various options, took my contact info and told me he would give me an estimate by the end of the week, and that the timeframe for completing the work if I signed right away would be up to a month out.  He also told me that normally they do not install furnaces they do not sell, but that since the new model I had was the same as they would have sold me, they might make an exception.  I hoped that they would, but at this point I was ready to proceed either without the furnace installation, without the heating work, or even to buy another furnace; I just wanted to get the work done, and I made this clear.

I never got the estimate. I called back Monday and left a message.  No call back Monday.  No call back Tuesday.  I called back Wednesday and left another message.  Finally I get a call back and was told that they aren't going to do the job at all, because "It's not enough money," given their manpower and the other work they were getting.

For all their promises of availability for flood relief, both in their advertising and directly to me, Auchinachie did nothing but put me two weeks closer to winter without plumbing or heat, without the decency to tell me either up front or in a timely fashion that they weren't going to do anything at any price because they didn't think there was enough money in it for them.
