  • The technician was helpful and professional . He was able to unclog the drain after another plumber had given up on the job. He also retightened drain connections which I had opened myself in an attempt to resolve the problem. AAA all the way.

  • A  true professional! He got the job done. Mike found and fixed  our leaks.  For one leak he replaced some piping. In the process he noticed a slow drain (we had gotten used to), he suggested what can do by ourselves for it and now that's fixed too! Pricing only good....if he had done it for free it would be excellent! Good job we would definitely use him again.

  • The bottom floor of our house previously consisted of a den with wood paneling, tile floors and no built-in lighting.  Adjacent to that was a non-functional summer kitchen that we had no need for (but was in place when we bought the house).  We wanted to gut the entire thing, knock down walls for an open space, add built-ins in the den along with a gas fireplace, and add built-ins in the old kitchen space to make it a multi-functional office space.  We also wanted to put in sliding barn doors to separate the office space from the den, when desired, and install hardwood floors throughout the space.
Price Quotes:  We started getting price quotes in January 2015, and got four price quotes including from US Home.  As for US Home, their price was the cheapest (by quite a bit) but our ultimate agreement was such that we would purchase the built-ins, floors, fireplace and barn doors on our own, and they would do the install.  This explained why the price was cheaper, since we'd be incurring additional expense through other vendors.  Some other companies proposed doing some or all of this purchasing/work for us, obviously at much higher prices.  After many rounds of discussion with Bob and other vendors, we decided to go with US Home because they seemed the most professional, competent and reasonable.  For example, we got another bid of approx 60,000 from another company which was supposed to include "everything."  When we met with them to discuss the bid, we immediately realized two things were missing from the bid, and voila, their price went up.  And that was just for the two things we realized in the moment.  This was a common occurrence for every company except US Home--i.e. if after looking at the bid we decided to take something out of the project, it wouldn't change the price, but if we wanted to add something, it raised the price.  This was NOT the case with US Home.  We added lots (LOTS) of things, mostly small, throughout our construction process, including wainscoting, additional storage door, additional outlets, additional hi-hats, converting to dimmer switches, among many other things I can't recall off hand.  None of this added to our price and they were glad to do it, even when we asked them to do it after they had completed aspects of the work.  The only up charge was $250 for a different kind of molding.  From everything I read going into this process, people said to build in an extra 30% for upcharges.  Not with US Home--only $250!!
What they did:  We started construction in late May, and they just completed everything in early August.  There was a long break in between because our built-ins were delayed and didn't come until late July.  Not at all their fault--we ordered them ourselves from another company.  But as soon as they built-ins came, Joe and his crew were back the next day to install them and finish the project.  Overall, their work consistent of full demolition, knocking down walls and re-framing the walls including adding a new closet, supplying and installing hi-hats throughout, installing gas fireplace, installing built-ins, building and tiling a mantle, painting and wainscoting, supplying and installing all molding, re-piping heating elements, among many other smaller things (we originally were having them supply and install floors, but decided to have someone else do that piece, so they lowered their price to take that piece out).  The work was all done professionally, cleanly and with little aggravation.  It was also done so quickly.  When we started, we were shocked at how quick they were moving, to the point that there were things they did before we could chime in with special requests, but they were always willing to change and fix things when we asked.
Responsiveness:  We both work full time so the contractors were here without us most days, requiring us to communicate with them at night, when we'd come home and see what had been done that day.  We texted/called Joe almost daily, and he responded on text very quickly, each time.  And as noted, was always willing to do anything we asked.  On many occasions, he came by at 7AM to walk through things with us before we left for work.  We probably drove him crazy a bit, but he didn't show it, and was always responsive and accommodating.
Overall:  We would hire them again in a heartbeat.  The price was the best, and there was no nickel and diming.  And the work quality was amazing, and we are thrilled with our new space.  We really wrestled with who to hire in the first place, and almost gave up the project out of frustration with not knowing if we would be making the right decision on who to hire.  Very glad we didn't do that and that we went with US Home.  We highly recommend

  • During the coldest couple days of the year every plumber I called was inundated with frozen and burst pipes and no one was able to get to my house that evening. When I spoke to Rich (the owner), it was already nighttime and he was very nice and told me he couldn't do anything that night but even though I was almost out of his service area he could have someone come to me in the morning. I was honest with him amd said I was still looking to get someone to come that night. He said great if I could find someone but if not, leave him a message and he would make sure to get someone to me in the morning. I couldn't find anyone that night so I left rich a message and he called me first thing in the morning as he promised he would! He walked us through everything we needed to know on the phone and had his guys come right away! He is so pleasant to deal with and a man of his word. He is very professional but also so personable to talk to that the entire experience was such a pleasure. He turned a stressful situation into a pleasant and easy one! We are very grateful that even though we had never used him before, he treated us so well! We are definitely going to use Mako in the future and will recommend them to everyone we know! It's times like this, and experiences like this that make me so happy to have Angie's list! Rich was a lifesaver and so great!

  • They were prompt and were able to replace the outside faucet which was leaking. The new faucet price was half the cost of other estimates with the Angie's deal. They replaced it with a faucet that is winter proof.

  • We had noticed water around the area of the water heater. We called Universe and the technician came about two hours later. He said the water came from pressure that was not being relieved automatically. We recently had a sprinkler system installed and they put in a back flow valve. This was causing the inability of the water heater to relieve the pressure as it had in the past. We were happy to hear that the water heater did not have to be replaced. The technician did the work in a little over an hour. We were very happy with the courteous and professional way our problem was handled. As a breast cancer survivor, I also appreciated that our technician, Frank, was wearing a tee shirt with the breast cancer logo and that Universe contributes to the breast cancer fund.

  • I have a service contract with Esposito Pluming and I called them because the air conditioning unit in my attic was leaking through to the floor below.  I called Esposito Plumbing at around three in the afternoon and explained I was going on vacation the next day and I was hoping they would be able to help me that day.  They had someone at my door within the hour and the problem was solved within 30 minutes. Best part of all is that because I had a service contract, the repair was covered.

  • .Very upset. You would think that  after being more than an hour late they would attempt to appease me rather then say I would be charged for a service call by just speaking to the mechanic.

  •  I've been looking at different modes of protection from sewer back-up including overhead sewers, lift station and check valve systems. My neighbor just installed the Parks' system so I thought I'd f ind out more about their product. The estimator arrived on time and was very professional and very knowledgeable about the product and other types of systems. The type of system they have is a dual check valve system, which seems like it will probably work teriffic until something gets caught in the valve and it gets stuck in an open position. That's just my opinion. Their system is $7500. A lift station, which is a bit more complex than the check valve system is also $7500 and offers more protection since it disconnects the house from the sewer (at least that is what I've been told). I can't understand why the check valve system is so expensive given its simplicty. In the end, I decided to go with a different product--not because the Parks' system is bad, but because I simply prefer a different type of system for the money. If you choose a check valve system though, I don't think you can go wrong with this one. I checked off that I wouldn't use them again only because I wouldn't need to if I'm  using a different system. The date of service is approximate.

  • We called and were told to wait until next week. Peter came on time and examined the area of suspected leaking. He cut out a hole in the bathroom ceiling and examined further. None was found. Charged $100.00 and told to keep an eye and call him if anything materializes. Hopefully not! Lovely person.
