Dr. Edwards put me at ease about my puppy's cough being from a minor upper respiratory, possibly due to teething. They got me in on a cancellation after another office that I had gone to (because earlier BAH had no openings) had scared me. --In the future I'll always wait for BAH to take care of my puppy. :o)

We brought our dog in last Friday, as she was unable to walk and very sick. The staff was very good at assisting her that night, putting her on a high dose of pain meds and caring for her. We spoke to the vet on Friday, and she explained everything very well. Saturday, we called and they said she was doing better. We stopped in to visit our dog, and she didn't look good at all. She was there physically, but not mentally. They lowered the dose of sedation medication. We spoke to another vet on Saturday, and she was good as well. She spent a lot of time with us talking about our dogs condition. I inquired about Addison's disease, although since she had been on steroids recently they didn't think they could get a good reading. They did do an in house test, although it was inconclusive. They also were going to send out a test to be reviewed by an external source, although that result wouldn't come back until Monday. Sunday, when we visited, our dog seemed to do better and was walking and even was eating. We spent two hours in a room, and asked twice to speak to the vet. A vet tech spoke to us. I understood she was given steroids, which she desperately needed. Sunday evening, our dog was discharged with medication. When my daughter inquired about a steroid medication, they said they wouldn't give any until the results were back. Why not treat it as if it were Addison's, until the results were back? Less that 12 hours later, my precious dog DIED. She was only 5 years old. If they would have given her steroids after they did their Addison's test, she would still be here! We spent over $5,000 there, and our dog is gone. My daughters believe that since the vet Sunday night refused steroids, that they basically killed our dog. We even called Monday morning desperate for help as our dog was dying in our house, and we were told that they couldn't treat her, and we needed to make an appointment with a neurologist. Oh, they had an opening in Oakdale at 12:15. Our dog died at 9:30 a.m. I understand that the test for Addison's came back positive on Monday. So why wasn't she treated with steroids? She displayed ALL the signs of Addison's. I'm not a doctor, but I read all about Addison's. We feel we didn't get all the information on our dear dog while she was staying there, and what medication's she was on. We felt that during each time we visited, that we had to ask multiple times to speak to a vet or vet tech. The communication with us overall was non existent, except for two vets. It was a bad decision to go there. One last note, my husband called this past Wednesday as he had a question about our bill. He was put through to the billing office and left a voicemail. Do you think they could call back? Nope. Never heard a word.

It went from bad to wrose. After 2 long hours I left with my dachshund still bleeding buy now paralyzed in the back legs. It appears that in trying to look down his throat the vet twisted his neck damaging his neck and spine. After 6 weeks (and lots of $$) working with 2 other vets, my poor little dachshund is walking again. He not the same as before the visit, but walking. I now have had 2 bad experience with Veterinary Specialists. Never again! Don't be a fool like me, never take a pet to these people if you care for your pet. Plus if you do, be prepared to spend a lot of money. They are experts in how to run up your bill while accomplishing nothing!

I started as a patient in October of 2019. In January of 2020, I started as an employee. That employment opportunity did not work out, however I wanted to remain a client. I was let go as a client for no valid reason and then when I called to have my pets medical records transferred to their new vet, they were never sent. I made this request on at least 6 different occasions, to no avail. My dogs had been heartworm tested in April and I had been buying their heartworm medication on a monthly basis. The fact that they gave me no notice that they were going to drop me as a client left me without heartworm medication for my dogs. Dr. Foley did agree to sell me some last month to keep them on the schedule until we got the records switched over so the new vet could sign off on the prescriptions. Well here we are again with them needing their medication and the records still haven't been sent. I shouldn't have to keep calling and requesting these records be sent. Not only is it unprofessional but it is also putting my pets at risk. This is uncalled for and unacceptable. Be upset with me that is ok, don't take it out on my pets. Your supposed to be in the business of helping animals.

Dr. Sandra Marky overdosed and killed our 1 year old puppy. She admitted to being negligent by not doing any bloodwork. They over prescribed PVV which are pre-meds so they basically have a doped up dog that they don't have to deal with when they take them from their owners, curbside. She was sent home early, I bright her back the following day because I knew she was not right, Sandra have her more drugs and sent her home and she is dead within a few hours. She died in my arms. I was so attached to her, especially with Covid and the quarantine. She was part of my everyday. No one cares there. I have yet to get any sort of explanation from the owner Dr. Steve Aimi, and I have not received one penny from them. They basically took 450$ and killed my family member that was 1200$ I don't know how they sleep at night. They are a fast-food style butcher shop. Consider yourself warned. Wish I had been. WE got a lab and he turned out to be very aggressive and we could not keep him so we wanted to make sure he found a home. we also thought that we should get our money back and the owner of the business said we could not. A similar thing happened with our neighbors the wanted to surprise their children with a lab puppy for christmas and the puppy died before they even got it and the owner would still not give them their money back. in all this is a terrible place to get a dog

He had cats lined up in carriers. When I picked my cat up the carrier and cat was soaked in urine. After a few days the incision was infected and split open. When I called him he told me it was the stitches manufacturer who was at fault! When I took cat to be helped it cost me over $200 to correct his mistake. Before I even told my new Vet who did the work, he already knew because of the poor job. I turned him in and he got fined $1000.

My recent request for reimbursement, apparently never to be responded to, from the Irondequoit Animal Hospital, this hospital's affiliate as provided in their list below:

This is my recent request of cost reimbursement of the charge for the visit and for the recent misdiagnosis and many prior failures to diagnose my pet having Lyme disease resulting in her Stage IV kidney failure by the Irondequoit Animal Hospital. I have then included their correspondence to me and review rating 'F' overall based upon what the State Board of Professional Licensing says about their maneuvers against a helpless sick dying pet. You can be the judge of whether this FACILITY, AS ONE OF THEIR LISTED CRITICAL CARE TREATMENT DENYING HOSPITALS. YOU ALSO MAKE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT AS WHETHER YOU AGREE TO MY 'F' RATING FOR THIS FACILITY AS A RESULT. NOTE WHAT THE STATE BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL LICENSING HAS TO SAY ABOUT PROFESSIONAL INCOMPETENCE AND NEGLECT OF MY VERY SICK PET BY THIS AND THE OTHER AFFILIATED VETERINARIANS.as listed below for your information and decision for who to take your own sick pet to.

First, my recent reimbursement request with explanation of cause; and of course strong language is required as you all know if you are to have any luck in being treated fairly; unfortunately which still didn't work for me, here it is:

Copy of statement from OPVMC and costs to date ($1163.83) being back charged for reimbursement by the IAH attached. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THEY BE IMMEDIATELY REIMBURSED and we will be then able to keep this issue from escalating to a higher level. FORMAL WRITTEN PAYMENT REQUEST TO FOLLOW WITH THE ATTACHMENTS CITED AS 'PROVIDED'. I do want to keep our relationship as amicable as possible through all this. I am hoping you understand that I am already under terrible stress from what you have me dealing with.

Also attached, my cause to additionally request reimbursement of Frizzette final exam cost ($500+/-, DO I REALLY HAVE TO LOOK IT UP?) by Dr. Cacia based upon and from which the EMAILED quote in excess of $1700 WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME FOR TEETH CLEANING AND REMOVAL OF A SMALL BENIGN CYST (per his diagnosis) INCLUDING ANESTHESIA OF A PHYSICALLY UNSTABLE HIGH RISK PATIENT Frizzette, a pet suffering STAGE IV LYME DISEASE INDUCED KIDNEY FAILURE, again rather than properly diagnosing and beginning immediate treatment of her REAL PROBLEM Lyme disease. NOTE: THE DISEASE was immediately recognized upon second opinion from the ORCHARD PARK VETERINARY MEDICAL CLINIC as the symptoms and blood test results were APPARENTLY VERY OBVIOUS FROM TESTING WHICH IAH ALREADY HAD IN ITS POSSESSION.

I AM CURRENTLY SERIOUSLY CONTEMPLATING consideration of license revocation of Dr. Cacia from the NYS Dept of Education Board of Professional Licensing. IN MY OPINION RECENT ACTIONS SUCH AS THE ABOVE CERTAINLY WARRANT IT with such unbelievably incompetent, senseless, and abusive malpractice INCLUDING TOTALLY UNNECESSARY SURGERY AGAINST AN INNOCENT AND ALREADY DEEPLY PAINED ANIMAL IN PROBABLE CRITICAL (and certainly unstable) CONDITION.

The totally unprofessional, unethical and disturbing conduct of attempting to deceive me into blaming myself for non-diagnosis of the Lyme disease BECAUSE I DID NOT AUTHORIZE HEART WORM TESTING* previously which he ATTEMPTED, MALICIOUSLY, CRUELLY, DECEITFULLY AND FRAUDULENTLY WAS ALSO THE TEST USED TO DETECT FOR LYME DISEASE!, in spite of my already obviously totally shaken condition.

*After note, of course there is absolutely no correlation between Lyme disease (a bacteria) and heartworm, yes a worm, or testing for them. I still am in awe such a malicious trick was attempted on me by these people to try to place blame for their ineptness and ignorance upon me; I think I was still crying at the time that it was pulled on me.

We at Irondequoit Animal Hospital value each and every relationship with our many clients.   The relationship between you and your animal care provider is important and requires mutual respect and trust*.  Given the numerous emails that you have sent this past week indicating your lack of trust in us, we have concluded that we do not have an effective client relationship with you and will no longer provide services to you and your pets, nor will any of our 16 affiliated practices, a list of which is enclosed.  Since you have already developed a client relationship with Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center for the care of Frizzette, this change is effective immediately.   We consider this our final communication with you. 

*My after note: seriously, like anyone could possibly still trust them!

Northgate Animal Hospital, Brighton Animal Hospital, OPVMC; I also understand it is policy of these and other facilities to routinely give vaccine and boosters against Lyme disease; unfortunately my proximity to the Irondequoit Animal hospital led me there instead.

Excellent experience. My dog Chase had back surgery in early December and spent many weeks at TheraVet for post surgical support and therapy. The staff was wonderful. They treated Chase just like he was their own. I never considered boarding my dogs until this experience and it would only be at TheraVet if needed.
