    I recently moved into this house which had gas heat. My old home had oil heat and the hot water tank ran off the oil boiler. I thought the new home worked in the same manner, however I was wrong. I thought the problem was with the boiler but it turned out the problem was the pilot for the water tank was out. The technician showed me how to turn on the pilot and problem solved. In addition the technician ( Matt) refused to take a tip. I intend to buy a service contract with this company this Fall as they seem to be a very honest and non greedy firm.

    What I needed was someone to tell me if my heating system was up to speed for the upcoming winter. I realized there were a couple zones in the home that weren't heating properly. This service call was a waste of money. The guy that came out did not appear knowledgeable in multi zone radiant heating. I also feel like he made sure he stayed over 30 minutes so I could be assessed an additional charge. He kept asking me questions as if I should know more about heating than him. He ended up taking a picture of the system and said he would have to do some research to figure out how to fix it. He also gave me the option to replace the entire system, and said he could give me a quote. I really had other things in the home I wanted him to take a look at, but seeing how long it was taking, I just cut my loses. After 00:45 minutes he was done. 10 of those minutes he was in the bathroom. It cost me $228.12 to end up dealing with the same issues. I gave him exact change. Haven't heard from him or the company since. Angie's List is hit or miss.

    The furnace repair went without a hitch and the gentleman who did the repairs was great. The hot water heater replacement had an issue where the gas was leaking after the repair and had to call National Grid in and then call Universal. The leak should have been discovered at the time of installation as the connection was never secured which cause the gas leak.

    I have an existing service contract on a Heating/AC Carrier system they installed in 2010. Back then there were issues, and I came close to terminating the installation then but only the professionalism and kindness of one of their more mature employees kept me from doing so. Some of their crew back then had attitudes that should have warned me not to go with them on a service contract.















    I called to have a tech come in to address certain concerns I had with the A/C system. I took the trouble of writing out my concerns to make things go

    more rapidly and smoothly (So I thought!). The tech shows up on time (even early by agreement). He is cold as ice and, sullen.  Look, I don't expect "High Fives" or jolliness from service technicians but I do expect professionalism and common courtesy . He can barely force himself to read what I wrote.

    I get the clear impression from this company that they sometimes sit in judgment on their customers and the attitude is transmitted to the employees. Some customers are categorized in a negative way, and treated accordingly. In as much as I am a non-aggressive, non-confrontational senior citizen, I'm certainly not the typical "problem" customer and do not deserve rude treatment. The inspection of

    my system was brief and my issues were partly addressed. I will not be renewing my contract and I suspect that is what they wanted anyway.


    Update as of 06/22/2015. After conferring with a representative of the company I received their explanation and their expression of concern for my satisfaction.  They promised that no discourtesy was intended, and I'm withdrawing my comment concerning alleged company policy. They assured me there is no such policy and I have agreed to modify the comment to reflect that. The representative took care of my remaining issue while here, and indicated that customer relations is important to them.

    We hired them when we moved in this house. They were great and they provided like twenty year warranty on their work.  They did an excellent job. Two guys came in they were clean, heat, helpful, polite and they cleaned after themselves. Next day an electrical worker from the same company came to put in the thermostat. We have a warranty with them as well. I will recommend them to others as well.

    They're very prompt and considerate and came right away.  They installed a different brand than we had before of hot water heater.  The pressure is better and is hotter than better.  We've had several water heaters before, but this one is working much better.  For years, they've said we had water pressure problems in our cul-de-sac.  There is a major difference in pressure and temperature.  We've had them before, and they provide very good service.

    He was very patient & professional with all the questions I asked. I was very pleased & I have to admit..very surprised when he gave me a final diagnosis that all was well.....well until two weeks later when a burning smell coming from the vents filled the house.The smell was that of the blower motor that had burned out & on Christmas Eve I was housed with NO HEAT. I called T.F O'Brien & was given an appointment for TWO DAYS LATER. Tech. Milton arrived on time & $673.48 & 1 hour later I had HEAT !

    Visit went very well. Technician Milton was polite, patient & professional. He did arrive a little late due to the heavy fog in weather that day. He answered many questions I had asked of him. Even advised me how to maintain furnace cleanliness & periodically changing filters. He was thorough & gave me a diagnosis that all was well except for the blower motor being sluggish. He explained to me that it had a little life left but I would eventually need to replace it.

    He and his helper were lovely men and they did a excellent job.  I can see why he has an A rating because he charged me a very reasonable rate and his work is very clean. He had to make a connection in my living room and you would never know that work had been done.

    He made sure the dryer was working properly, and even caulked a few cracks in my foundation.  I tried to tip them, and they refused.  They were wonderful working for over an hour on my vent pipe. I really appreciated it.  And they also gave me $25 coupon discount without me having the coupon.  They were excellent.
