  • Chris Tuten is wonderful. I was looking for a realtor, and Chris was recommended to me. I called, left a message, and he called me right back. I called other realtors, talked to the via telephone, looked at other websites, and Chris won hands down. He provides six hours of free handyman services to all of his clients. If the lawn needs mowed, or some heavy object needs to be hauled off the back porch, he participates in that. He probably gave me more than the six hours in the final analysis. He was very patient. For a lot of it, I was very ignorant and uninformed, and Chris did not judge me. He put me at ease. He made me feel as though I was a friend of his.

It was really special. The house was a fixer upper, and I had been in denial about that. It needed TLC. Chris is a great communicator. When it came time for me to let him know my friend needed a key to get inside the house for a purpose, Chris put two keys in the lock-box. He gave my friend the temporary combination. He is very cooperative, patient, and non-judgmental.

The price he charged was appropriate. It wasn't too much or too little. It was just right. I was so moved, I got him a gift certificate to a restaurant.

There are people who want a shark for a realtor or a type-A personality. That's not Chris, which is fine and exactly what I needed. We meshed well together and he made all that work for me. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone.

  • Being that this is our first experience with home buying, we happily used Navy Federal Credit Union's RealtyPlus program which matches military families up with realtors in the area.  Sandy was picked for us by Navy Federal and we set off within a few days to find some houses in our price range.  We saw many, many houses and Sandy was always willing to set up more for us to see.  My husband has an ever changing schedule due to the military so we were glad she was quite patient with that factor.  Eventually, we found a house we liked and made an offer, only for the house to fail the septic tank inspection.  Sad and disheartened, we plugged on, through open houses and scheduled showings until we found a second home we loved and made an offer.  We unfortunately picked the ONE house with the worst selling agent and reluctant, hard to work with seller EVER on the face of the planet.  Everything was a struggle to get this house into contract and bought.  Sandy worked hard through it all, answering our 5,000 questions, our worrisome emails and dealt with our impatience with total professionalism.  Even at closing when the seller called her a dirty word, Sandy kept her cool and maintained composure.  She really does work for you and with you through it all.  She had a really good network of home inspectors and attorneys at hand to recommend, which was extremely helpful as we are fairly new to our area.
My only complaint was that after the house went into contract, contact with her seemed to slough off some.  Where we felt like total top priorities when we were in the search phase, once we went into contract and it seemed a done deal, it was often times hard to reach her.  I'm not sure if that's how it always is once you go into contract but at the end, we felt she wasn't really present until closing day.  Now that we've moved into the new home, we are finding a TON of little things that the seller guaranteed was in working condition but isn't and when we tried to contact our attorney or Sandy, we've had no answer in 2 weeks from either to see if there was any kind of recourse we could pursue.
All in all, a decent experience and we ended up in the house we love and fought so hard for but I have mixed feelings about the way things went after contracts were signed.

  • Dan Axtmann was very good. He was just fair and very business-like. Lot of times I have seen a lot of real estate brokers that try to make sure to make as much money as possible, but Dan was not like that. He only showed me one apartment and spent a few minutes and so he decided to only charge us a percentage because he said that he didn't show us that many places. Most times, most brokers don't do that and charge one anyway, so I felt that was very fair of Dan to do something like that. Dan was very much on time, usually early.
