I called the office, a woman answered. I asked to make an appointment with Dr Meiteles for the first time for an issue with my ear. I asked if the Dr does that sort of procedure. She answered "Yes," and asked what my insurance was. I told her what it was and she responded that they don't take that insurance. Prior to the call I had looked up on my insurance company website to see if the Dr was "in network." He was. I told that to her; she put me on hold to call her billing department to verify. When she came back she did confirm that my insurance was accepted. She thought my insurance was an exchange plan. It is not and I told her so.Then she started to warn me about my insurance co-pay and high deductibles. I told her that I was aware of what my insurance policy covered and did not cover. I was aware of what I would have to pay out of pocket for the visit, which according to my plan was $50. She didn't seem to believe me and kept telling me about how I'd have to pay the deductible. I reiterated that I was aware of what I would be responsible for paying as per the terms of my insurance policy. She persisted for a third time in warning me about the deductible. I stated that as long as she brought up the subject, what does the Dr charge for such and procedure. She said that I'd have to call the billing department which was a different number in a different area code. And then she started to say goodbye, and I asked her, well what about my appointment. I told her that she didn't seem to want my business. She asked me, "Sir how can I help you?" I responded by asking her "Why did I call in the first place? To make an appointment." Her response. "Don't treat me like a child." I tried to point out that that was what she was doing to me by warning me about the same issue three times after I assured her I was aware of the issue. She hung up on me before I could finish. Never at one point did she offer to make an appointment. The office was in no way interested in my business.
