    Sears Appliance Repair
Terrible!!!! Now, to start off, the repairman himself was great. He was punctual, professional, and neat and clean. Setting the service appointment was easy enough too. My problem is with Sears and the fact that the part needed for our Kenmore oven/range is no longer available - and the oven is only 11 years old!! The required part is the clock assembly, which happens to be the 'brains' of the oven ... no clock assembly, no working oven. We are so incredibly disappointed that 11 years later, Sears no longer stocks the most important component of this Kenmore oven!! We're not complaining that our 11 year oven needs repair - our beef is that the part is no longer available and our ONLY option is to buy a new oven. It's no wonder Sears is slowly dying. To make matters worse, this is a 40" oven/range unit. If you're not familiar, it's a very uncommon size. Sears no longer makes a unit this size. We've found a Fridigaire model (that we will NOT be purchasing through Sears) for $3500, which we will purchase sight unseen as the next least expensive 40" unit is $8000!!!! All in all, it's less expensive than a renovation as anything other than a 40" unit would require change to our cabinets and countertops. Ugh! Again, the serviceman who came out here was great, it's just that Sears no longer stocks the most important component of an 11 year old oven, and for that we will be out $3500. Oh, and the replacement oven is not a double oven like our Kenmore. We are going to miss that feature immensely. Because of this, we will NEVER purchase anything through Sears ever again.

    Honest & Fair Appliance Repair
Jim McRae showed up within the time expected. He was very friendly and professional. He tested the dryer for possible problem and very quickly told me the issue was the vents were clogged with lint causing the dryer to work inefficiently and ruining the coils. He warned that while he would clean the dryer and replace the coils the problem would only be solved when the vents get professional cleaned. He took apart the front of the dryer, cleaned and vacuumed it, and replaced the coils. He also leveled the washer which has been making a lot of noise during the spin cycle. Jim recommended DryerVent Wizard and even gave me a coupon for them.

Jim McRae arrived on time and was very polite, He had a dog biscuit for my dog which I thought was great. He showed me what we can do in the future to prevent this from happening again. I really appreciated having someone local that I feel I can trust with all my appliance repair.

My food in the refrigerator and freezer were melted one evening when I returned from work. I called Jim's service and got his machine at 6:40pm. He returned my call within a half hour. He explained that he didn't do emergency calls but he cld come out the next which was sat between 11 and 3. The following morning he called me and said he had a cancellation and cld come earlier. He arrived shortly after we spoke, looked at my refrigerator problem explaining the whole time everything he was doing. After about 30-40 minutes he was done. Charged me 196.00 Refrigerator and freezer have been fine ever since.

    Honest & Fair Appliance Repair
He came to my house to look at a microwave oven that was not heating the food. He said he thought he knew what the problem was, but could not guarantee that he was right. That's okay, but he charged $85 plus the cost of the part (over $200). If he were wrong about the part I would have to eat the cost. He left parts of the microwave disassembled and it took several phone calls for him to tell me that he wasn't sure. While I don't expect a repairman to be 100% right 100% of the time, he didn't leave me with a sense of confidence that he knew what he was doing.

    Honest & Fair Appliance Repair
We called Honest and Fair at 8 p.m one night after finding wet floors in our laundry room. The owner called back first thing the next morning and arranged to have someone come by that afternoon (which was convenient for me). He came right on time, took apart the washer, and found the problem "pin hole" in a hose. He temporarily patched it so that I could still use the washer while I waited for the new hose to come in (expected wait 3 days). I was happy when I got a call that the part came in overnight and he was coming back the following day. He arrived- again right on time- changed the pump, and it was fixed quickly (about 40 mins). He was professional, knowledgable and friendly. I rated A for just about all areas; the only B I gave was for price. The price was still good and fair, however the $20 hose cost a total of $183 to put in when all was said and done after the $80 "service" charge and the $70 in labor.

Rather than unnecessarily changing components he showed me where the cooling vents are and recommended that food placement would probably solve the problem. I certainly appreciated thathe didn't just start changing components and took the time to teach me about this specific type refrigerator.

    Honest & Fair Appliance Repair
We've used Jim for many years and he is basically a legend in our area. Everyone knows "Honest and Fair" for good reason.
If they can repair an appliance for a reasonable cost to the customer they recommend having it repaired. If they think we're just paying good money for an appliance that will break down again soon they will tell you to not bother and usually give good recommendations on a replacement unit that is reliable.
Our washer will sometimes not spin dry properly and we'll have to run through the last spin cycle one more time.
We had Jim check it out (Kenmore "Elite" top loader) and he said it wasn't worth the repair cost, better to apply that to a new washer.
I always pick his brains on the 2 or 3 other home projects i'm thinking of doing and he always has great recommendations.
    Jim's the best.
