Handyman reviews in Middle Village

It was a total disaster. The job was performed very sloppily, very quickly and unsatisfactorily. I never negotiated the price and paid what he quoted even though it seemed high. It was all a very big rush, He even came to my house very late in the morning. There is caulking missed painted wall not prepped or filled in before painting , sills were supposed to be sanded and smooth, .He indicated he would "repair anything he missed" the next time he came to my house to do a job. Well that shall not happen!

I purchased the deal on Angies list and was contacted promptly to set up a date, although my initial dates in my request when purchasing were not acknowledged. After a few back and forths on dates we got one locked down and the provider came exactly on time which was much appreciated and did the job quickly. I was very pleased.

Everything went as well as it could have.  The work was done in the time they said.  I would have liked it to be a bit cheaper since it only took about half an hour but there is an hour minimum.

I took advantage of the "Big Deals" and hired Rogers Construction through Angie's List for a complete bathroom reno.
Roger was punctual at beginning of the project. His team Luis and Antonio quickly completed the demo and removed the rubbish and Luis was careful with detail when he installed the tile work. Roger suggested design ideas and worked with me with payment questions.
The completed reno work dragged on longer than expected due to other projects Roger was working on, but it wasn't too bad.
There was some confusion about when and how the service provider gets reimbursed from Angie's List (Big Deals) for the down payment that is due to them for a project. Roger had no knowledge that the down payment paid to Angies List was supposed to eventually go to him and because of this he expected the expense to come from me when the final payment was made. Attempting to help him better understand, I explained the process to him and encouraged him to contact his rep for details. As I read other reviews after my bathroom was completed I saw that other customers continued to have similar problems. Angie's List needs to be more clear to their service providers about the details involving the "Big Deals".  Maybe this is why he was placed in the "penalty box".
The final cost was more than what the "Big Deal" was offering because the project required additional labor at my request.
Overall, I was happy with the finished work. The labor, attention to detail and the overall design of the room was impressive. My new bathroom was exactly how I envisioned it to be. I would recommend him.

Efran came for an estimate on June 27th and told me that although they were booked with some bigger projects through November they would be able to fit me in two weeks time. I really appreciated that I was given an estimate for the job on the spot instead of being told I would be called later. Some other providers have done that and it is always frustrating when they never get back to you so having him tell me the price on the spot was a welcome breath of fresh air. I was late getting back to him to start the job the second week of July (as they'd been booked already) but he was more than willing to fit me into a slot starting the 25th of July.
The workers arrived promptly on the 25th and proceeded to tear down the ceiling. When dealing with that sort of job there is a tremendous amount of dirt and dust and they did a nice job of containing it to the work area and trying their best to prevent it from going into other rooms. The first day was all about clearing out the ceiling and getting the sheet-rock and plaster up. They did a nice job of cleaning up as well.
The second day they arrived around 11am to give the ceiling plaster time to dry. They also did work on the interior doors. There were 10 doors that needed to be put in and because the door frames were not quite standard size they had to cut EVERY SINGLE DOOR to make them fit. They also provided handles for all the doors which was great and something I forgot to ask about during the initial estimate. They did a lot of work on the ceiling, including installing an attic ladder.
The third day they finished up all the doors and the ceiling. They painted the ceiling, they painted the doors white and even painting the hallway with the paint I had left over from when I painted it a few years back. They did all of it in a professional manner and did their best not to get paint all over the finished floors. The last day I was really impressed with how well they did their work. For instance, when installed the bi-fold closet doors there was a considerable amount of space above the door that should've been covered by the crown molding. They actually took the molding off, cut down the height of the molding on the side and then reinstalled the top part of the molding. It was more unexpected work for them but they did it graciously and Efran didn't charge any extra for it. Another instance was I had a bi-fold door for the Baby's room and I asked if they could make it into French Doors and they did without any hesitation (and with no complaint!). It is the extra effort like that which really made this a great experience.
They finished their work and I couldn't be happier. They did a fantastic job with the clean-up, too. There was dust everywhere! (not their fault - it's what happens with jobs like this) and they stayed a good hour just to clean up! I was extremely happy with their service and I would definitely consider using them for future jobs!

Elite tech did a great job in our basement.  We were very pleased with the final result. George and his crew were professional throughout the whole process, George also very good in terms of responding to you quickly to our questions and would notify us if he was running late. The workers would also stay late and even come in on weekends if necessary to stay on schedule. We highly recommend Elite Tech and would definitely hire them again for any future home improvement projects.  Our only regret is not finding them sooner.

The experience was great overall. We were hesitant because we had contractors before and they were no way near this man. He was one of the companies we called after receiving Angie's List . His first response was a phone call in which he left a message saying he was busy at that particular time and if we could wait until January he would be able to accommodate us.We called others on the same list and were told they would not be able to help us due to many claims they were working on. Some came with estimates others never showed up. The time passed and it was January and this man kept his word. He called and showed up and later that night he sent his estimate back by email.

George the contractor from  Elite Tech (2040 East 22nd St, Brooklyn, NY 11229) came to our house on time to prepare to give us an estimate for our basement. We told him what we wanted done. First we showed him our exposed central ac unit that it needs to be covered and insulated, which he highly recommended because it wasn't a pleasant sight. Next we showed him our laundry room and right away he pointed out some safety hazards, such as the flimsy plastic dryer vent and the exposed furnace water heater pipes. He recommended us to cover up the furnace and water heater in a wooden enclosure. When we wanted him to help us replace our inside exit door, he helped us save a little money by suggesting to just replace the frame instead. We then told him that we wanted our ceiling redone and when he asked us what type of lights we wanted we said recessed.  Again he gave us money saving advice by going for orbital lights, which are not only less expensive but also won't lower the ceiling due to wiring that recess lighting requires. Next we wanted a small storage space in a corner and he suggested an extension where the ac unit is with sliding doors so that when closed you wouldn't even notice it. We also wanted the ugly 70's wooden paneling removed, but thank god he checked what was behind it (concrete) so right away he told us that it might be extra work to put up support beams. Also suggested to maximize space to put up a new wall where the stairs are so it will hold the wall mounted TV. Finally when we mentioned that we thought about putting carpet, he right away disagreed because why cover up the beautiful hardwood floor (another money saving tip). He also suggested that to really spruce up the basement we should install very nice crown moldings.  Overall we had a very great experience with George.  He is very professional, honest and very knowledgeable of his work. He took his time to go over every detail with us. We look forward to have him and his crew to work on our basement.

They installed the first back door and it was fine, but the wall was left dirty and unpatched.  My wife and I had to haul two garbage pails full of wood with nails sticking out of it out to the curb.  Then we had to patch the wall and paint it, then clean it from dirty hand prints.
We had the ceiling fan installed and that was great too but for the fact that there was a big black hand print on the white wall.  They said they didn't put it there, but unfortunately the hand print wasn't there before the work was done so I guess they just didn't check before  putting their dirty hand on the wall.
And for some strange reason, they left a ladder here and never came back to pick it up.

    It went perfectly overall.

I called, they made an appointment, showed up on time, took the time to apprise the job, we set an appointment, they came on time and it was fixed as though it were magic.

    I'm happy.
