    Sclafmore Construction, LLC.
We hired Sclafmore to redo our garage roof and build a large deck for us. The long and short of it is that Sclafmore did an outstanding job and that my wife and I are extremely happy with the results. Sclafmore sent a team of 4 guys - Steve (the foreman) Andrew, Kenny, and Michael - and they were all GREAT. Super nice to be around, courteous to a fault, and really good at what they do. I work mostly in the evenings, so I was able to stay home most days and watch everything that they did over the course of a month. And I have to say that they were very meticulous and showed great attention to detail in each and every task they performed. After the work was over we actually missed having them around! I also have to add that Sclafmore confidently took on this job that at least one other contractor seemed intimidated by. I liked that. If I have any gripe its that I feel that some of the negotiating could have been a little easier. We decided to go with a cheaper wood than what was in the original estimate and the new price given didnt nearly fully reflect the actual savings in materials, and I really didn't like how much I had to bump heads to finally get the price adjusted properly. So in the end, there was more push and pull than I would care for, but I would use them again and can confidently recommend them.

The patio stays wet and holds water. The sidewalk is all pitted due to a bad mix of cement. The stoop and sidewalk both have chips and are pitted. On the side of the stoop, he left a glob of cement where my garden is. They must of had too much cement because they just left it there.

Contactor initiated contact the same day when I submitted the Angies List work request. Very good A+ The contractor was very professional and stayed in communication with me from beginning, setting up appointment and sending a proposal. Very good A+ Unfortunately I did not go with this contractor for various mainly due to pricing; I was in a very stringent budget. The sidewalk violation for the City of NY outlined the cost for square feet which I think was very good information given that I know very little of concrete pourring. If the City of NY were to do the work for me by hiring a contractor the for was: 15.45 per Square feet for Sidewalks (4 in of concrete pouring) and 17.45 for driveways (7 inches of concrete pouring). I did not find any discounts at all by looking for my contractor versus letting the City of NY doing the work for me. I think the biggest differentiator between hiring a contractor versus the city performing the job is that I only would pay for the pricing of the concrete and not the overhead and me not doing the leg work. I found a contractor through a family member that was very good in pricing and this is the reason why I made this decision.

    City Suburb, Inc.

Good weather helped move the project along.  Ryan, the man in charge, was always available when I called him, which is an extremely rare thing and a tremendous help.  His men are skilled, and very hard working, arriving by 8 am and not leaving before 6 pm for 5 straight days.  His workers never abused meal breaks, and worked very hard all day long.

City Suburb is not the least expensive nor the most expensive contractor we interviewed, falling just about midway in the quote department.  I strongly recommend them and feel that going the cheapest route will not be advantageous.  Just the simple fact that Ryan answers his phone 9 out of every ten times I called instilled tremendous confidence in their services.

I couldn't ask for a better contractor. John Puma and his crew were outstanding. Extremely professional  and punctual.
When I first met John I got a positive vibe that he was going to be the one to do the job. I interviewed several companies and John gave me a fair price for the work he was going to do. He was very knowledgeable about the work that needed to be done. I was getting water in my basement and we came to the conclusion that water proofing the foundation wall was going to be the rout to go.
He also re-pitched my pavers in the yard so that the water would not lay in the yard after every rain storm. He also added proper drainage in the yard to divert the water away from the house.
After the water proofing was done he and his crew poured new concrete throughout the driveway.
If you are looking to get this type of work done, look no further. This company did it right.
Professional, knowledgeable and very clean when working. John and his crew were great.
Two major storms and not a drop of water in my basement now.... A+

After cancelling 2 appointments, I told him to forget it.  If he can't keep his appointments, why are you in this business?  If he is busy, just take a pass on my project and I would appreciate the honesty.
I hope the next customer can give him better review.

    ANTHONY TRANCHINA GENERAL CONTRACTING CORP
Mr. Tranchina and his crew of four men arrived every day shortly after 7 am and accomplished a substantial amount of work each day. The excavation of all the dirt was nearly completed during the first day of work. The entire job took 7 days, including Saturday. Mr. Tranchina stays on the job and works with his crew. He is very particular when it comes to doing the right job and will not compromise the integrity of the job in any way. He uses the best materials to guarantee the job will last. In my case I was concerned because each of my walls has to be able to hold up three of my neighbors dirt yards that butt up against them. Mr. Trachina placed the weep holes in the center of each wall instead of the bottom because he explained the top 18 inches of soil was soft but most of the soil before that point was very solid and the water would not penetrate to the bottom. The concrete parking pad slopes from back to front to allow water to flow out into the community driveway to the drain. He takes the time to explain what he is going to do and why. His workers do a great job even when Mr. Tranchina has to leave the site for short period of time. You really can't ask for more in terms of professionalism and dependability. Even though Mr. Trachina's estimates are higher than others you may get, you can trust you will get your money's worth and have peace of mind when it's done.
On a side note, the reason I called Mr. Tranchina in the first place is that 50 years ago I would always see his father's truck all over my neighborhood. His father, also Anthony Trachina, must has taught his son well because unlike other companies that change names, theirs has stayed the same for decades. That alone is proof that they do what they say they will do.

The work was performed on schedule with both Tony and his crew being very respectful of our special requirements. We needed a very strong cement for our front sidewalk due to cars and trucks riding up on the sidewalk while making U turns. Tony ordered a fiber mesh cement mix for added strength and made the cement pour several inches thicker to avoid cracking under the weight of a vehicle. The workers arrived on time each day and did a nice job of cleaning up the debris after each days work. We are very delighted with the results thus far.

    City Suburb, Inc.
City Suburb did a very nice job. I am very pleased and would gladly recommend them. They finished the job today.
About 3 weeks ago I call City Suburb for an estimate, and they quickly came by the very next day.
I was looking to fix the leak I had in my garage, which sits under my front door porch.
Paul the owner came by to access the job.He was very clear on pricing and what the waterproofing would involve with the job.
They completed this job in two and half days
1st they replaced my falling front roof tiles.
2nd they cork all my front windows of the house
3rd they remove the loose cement from my front porch, level the porch floor, after they waterproof
    it with seka coating.
4th painted the front porch on the last day
5th work on replacing the shingle at the top of my garage, which is under my porch and they also clean up my gutters
6th worked on the inside of my garage, they repair the damage leak ceiling, and then
completely painting the inside of my garage.
They left everything very clean .I am so pleased.
