    1A Contracting
In Summer 2018, we hired 1A Contracting to do various jobs at our house. At first, they came off as very professional, caring, and seemed like they put their clients first. But we were extremely wrong and completely taken advantage of. Dave and his team were hired to redo a 6x10 roof and leak, install a composite deck above the roof and a paver patio in our backyard. First off, we signed the contract in April, he collected 50% of the money, but didnt actually start the job until June/July (we should have known then that this is how he does business). The roof was torn apart and then put back together and redone about 3x in Summer 2018 and Spring 2019 (fast forwarded to July 2019 WE STILL HAVE AN ACTIVE LEAK!). We had decided on the color of the composite deck, sent them photos of exactly what we wanted it to look like, and when we got home after installation, the deck pattern was installed incorrectly (1st time the deck was removed). Then, once it was re-installed, the posts for the deck railings were crooked (2nd time deck was removed). And finally when they came back in 2019 to redo the original job, they had a completely different crew come out, remove the deck (3rd time) and put it back together terribly. They used indoor screws that will rust, the boards are all uneven and have holes in them, and they left loose screws all over the deck and our backyard for our 1 year old son to play with. The pavers patio was subcontracted and it took them weeks to finish the job it looked great to the unprofessional eye, but little did we know that Dave and his team never paid the subcontractor and he walked off the job Dave, however, received the full payment from us. The patio floods 3-4 inches every time it rains, the electrical work wasnt completed, and Dave ruined our entire underground sprinkler system after confirming to us that it will remain untouched. There were also a few other things that his team worked on that also needs to be re-done, by actual professional contractors. He doesnt pay his men and so there is a different crew that comes out every month. I know this for sure, because I witnessed conversations of them asking him for his money that in of itself is completely unprofessional. The last crew he sent to my house was high on drugs pills, weed, alcohol you name it again they talked about this openly so I know this for sure. They let someone who has never worked on a job cut into my ceiling. They have no care for their clients or their things, they told me that Dave doesnt have the money to pay for common tools and so didnt even have a drop cloth to cover my brand new couch when they started cutting into my wall. They left my house FILTHY. 1A Contracting, Dave and his team are absolute con-artists. They have multiple lawsuits against them and just take your money many times he would ask for an advance so that he could make payroll. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE 1A Contracting. They will scam you out of your money and do a horrid job on your home. We are now paying actual reputable contractors to fix everything that they have worked on in my home.

    Lakeville Kitchen and Bath
I was pleased with the way our kitchen came out and I am glad we used Lakeville even though it was a little more than other quotes we received. The customer service team and my designer were both always on point.

    Turn Key General Contracting, Inc.
This is the first time in all the years that I have used outside contractors that I was completely satisfied with the entire process. The owner of the company was hands on and accessible at all times to make sure the job was going as promised. His crew worked efficiently and neatly and were very accommodating to us until the job was completed. They were respectful of our home and our comfort, and were very polite and pleasant. The office manager was instrumental in helping us decide on the tiles, backsplash, etc., and her follow up was much appreciated. Her input was invaluable. The job was completed in the time frame promised and a couple of small issues, not the fault of Turnkey, were resolved quickly and efficiently. My wife and I are thrilled with the way the kitchen came out  I will use this company for any jobs I might have in the future, and I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone who might need their services.

    Gotham Builders of New York
We recently saw a TV ad for Angie's list and had to share our experience with a remarkable company -- Gotham Builders of Freeport. Before we give our complete positive review we have to share our story.
Last year in March we were out of state, when we received word from family in NYC that our house was on Fox News. Turning on TV, we saw our house burning. It was part of a 8 row house fire caused by arson.
After many hours of fire fighting, because of wind and construction of these row houses, it was under control. This is when we needed help --- Gotham Builders of Freeport was recommended to us.
Unable to get back to Queens, Gotham Builders worked with our family ( 2 NYFD fire fighters ) to start the process of rebuilding. Gotham always kept In touch with us until we got home. What a mess !!!.
Gotham Builders were our eyes and ears until we were able to get home. Providing safety, ( that prevented further damage from weather ), possible accidents and supplying the best advice, Gotham's team ( Andy, Greg, Tony and entire staff ) were there to help us. Gotham Builders worked to  secure permits, architectural plans and construction crews. It is always something we will be thankful for -- Gotham was on top of everything -- quality of work, timeliness of completion , and explanation of this process was remarkable. The experience of all this was an education. After seeing the problems our neighbors had with their contractors, we are so happy we chose Gotham Builders.
We can't say enough good things.
                                                                   Thank you Gotham

    JSG CONSTR
In February of 2014 we signed a contract with JSG Construction Company to do a second story addition on our cape. For the total cost of 114,000.00 dollars. We met with Jonathan Grossman who assured us that he had a construction company that consisted of framers, electricians, plumbers, and tile workers that would be working on our house throughout. John said the entire job would take about 5 months, " if the stars were in alignment," we understood that, and realized it might take longer but here we are almost 9 months later and the job is not even close to being complete. Right from the beginning we had issues. After demolition he showed up to do the framing work on the second story with one other worker to assist him. After asking him where his framing crew was, he could produce no real answer. Work progressed slowly and days went by when no one came to work on the house at all. Things increasingly got worse when the second story was framed and the contracted electrician would work only at night from 4 pm to 8pm and show up sporadically. John was rarely around to supervise any work, and he never had specific dates on when to expect these workers. John would always find excuses for why he wasnt there and why work wasnt getting done. He would say he will be there Monday or Tuesday, then on Tuesday he would say he will be there Wednesday or Thursday, and sometimes they would not show up until the following week. It should be noted that at this time we were still honoring the contract with payments even though some of the work as per the contract was not completed. Then John hired a completely incompetent person to install our tile. He improperly installed tile in both the master bath and kids bath. The worst of it was in our master bath the decorative tile had divets and bumps and some tiles were even upside down. also most of the wall tiles were uneven. he attempted to fix them once and was unable to do so. In the end we had to ask him to be replaced for his inability to install tile properly. At this point John had taken approx 95,000 dollars from us, and i explained that he would be given no more money until the upstairs was finished. John's second tile guy came only once and told me he could fix the tile. for three weeks he gave me every excuse in the book why he could not come. Finaly at my own expense I had to I had to hire someone to fix the tile who had no affiliation with JSG construction. the final straw came when John was supposed to pick up and pay for as per the contract our plumbing supplies for the bathrooms.(ie Toilet, bath fixtures and bath tub). which were being held at greenart plumbing supplies for the past five months. Everyday there was an excuse as to why he was unable to do this. after may attempts to resolve this situation, I had to buy these items myself at a cost of 4,700 dollars. After several sit down discussions with John we realized nothing was going to change. Days would go by and the excuses about why he couldn't be here became ridiculous. On his last day at my house i sat down with john. I told him that this was not working out. He told me that if I would not agree to give him more money he would not be back. He handed me my keys to the house and then left. Jonny's JSG Construction has left us with a bathroom that has no plumbing fixtures installed. a house with no siding on it, none of the promised work downstairs done as per the contract. There are large holes in every ceiling and a few of the walls on the first floor, Black mold in the attic on the inside of the brand new roof because he never vented the bathrooms or the main vent stack properly. Flooding to the basement because we have no gutters, and siding. Overall this entire process has caused us a lot of unnecessary stress. Having 2 small children and dealing with this contractors incompetence has caused us much grief. In total John has recieved more than 100,000.00 dollars from us, and alittle over half of the work has been completed.

    BALDAUF CONTRACTING INC
The job went just great. Upon arrival, tarps were put on existing floors and sheething was put up to block construction dust and dirt from traveling throughout the house. The worker were perfessional and polite. The owners were on the job everyday arriving on time. The site was left clean at the end of the day. One important thing I must mention here is that some unaticipated things came up during the work being performed, Jim and Tom pointed them out recomended a resolution and with my ok completed the corrections. NO EXTRA CHARGE!!!!! When does that ever happen with a contractor. Details baby details. There is so much to mentioned about what happened from begining to end, I could just go on and on.

However, the bottom line is major work was being done in my home with minimal disruption to my life. The work was completed as promised and performed quite well and in a professional manner. I just love my new basement and I now have to stand in line to use my new shower.

    ACA Electrical Contracting
I used ACA Electrical for a new piece of property I bought in Nassau County. He wired the entire house which was a 400 amp service. He did everything from start to finish in an 7,000 sq foot home, including all outside work. He also designed the entire electrical plans. He wired the entire house and went above and beyond of what code called for. I highly recommend Alex and ACA Electrical. The owner Alex is one of the nicest contractors I have ever dealt with and is on the job from start to finish. A true professional in all aspects!! My highest recommendation A++++++. Pricing was resonable and he didn't nickel and dime me!
