    Mohawk Plumbing
I hired two other companies to fix it, but one did nothing at all to help, and the other only got it running for a few days. (both got paid) Mohawk got to the bottom of the problem and fixed the plug at the vent trap out between the road and the house. They did not even charge me until a month after performing the service. Their attitude is kind and friendly, like they care about helping the customer. I called them because of a strong word of mouth referral and I am glad I did. This is the plumber I will call from now on.

    DBR Plumbing Inc
Please understand this is such a long story, I need to use a list style to be as brief as possible.
The woman in the office was untrusting and not nice when I went in asking for help. She might be biased against landlords I don't know.
She demanded payment in advance (it was hard for me that day, I was caught on the road with out having any cash on me, and I had to use a credit card. Knowing how these places don't show up too fast I would have preferred to pay after the work was done but I was desperate because the sewer back up was pretty bad).
I paid them against my better senses.
The guy came, found the vent trap was plugged. Said he could not fix it unless I paid like $350 for a vac truck.
He said no guarantee on that either, and I might have to pay them to excavate the dirt and get at the pipe.
I said ok- do it. Vac truck was in shop, will come first thing tomorrow am.
    A.M. Came and they did not show up. I received a phone call demanding that I come there with them and pay up front (no trust). I explained that I am at work and can not meet you to do this job. They refused to do the job at this point, regardless of basement sewage, unless I paid them- in his own words and quot;we are CODand quot;
I asked to speak to the owner. They said owner was out of town and could not be reached for any reason. (yeah, right)
I called another plumber who was able to do this job for $135.00 and did not need a vac truck.
I called a few times more, later on, and the owner was never there. I wanted to talk about this because we pay for results not excuses. If you paid me to paint your house how would you feel if you came home and there was no paint on the house but yet you still had to pay me?
My heart felt feeling is that these people know how desperate you are when you get sewage backups and they are in business to make money only, not to help the customer. I have a 770 credit score, so not getting paid is not a legitimate excuse on their part for not performing the job. My advice is that there are better places to hire than DBR

AAA Attaboy Plumbing Sewer and Drains
The back up in the basement went down, so I was initially happy.  Then 3 or 4 days later, the sewage was back in the basement.  Despite his efforts, he did not get all of the foreign objects out of the line.  This was confirmed by the company that I called to fix it next.  I understand that things happen, and I am not bashing aaa attaboy, but this is what happend and it was not a good experience for me.  The bottom line is I paid $90.00 and my problem was not resolved.

    Duke's Plumbing & Sewer Service
the two guys were reasonably nice to talk to, considering they take advantage of your desperate situation, and charge you a ton of money for what winds up being 10 minutes of work. I think there should be a service call charge and a hourly rate. this would end the feeling of being used, but they just made up the price and even negotiated with me on that, offering to sell me a drain system camera check for extra $200. when i said NO, they offered to do it for free, and admitted it would not help anything anyway. i feel the price was not commensurate with the difficulty or time involved with the job. I will never call them again, despite that they did fix the problem with no issues. There is a company (Any sewer any drain is the name) in NYC that charges only $49.95 for ANY drain job... if only we had that company where I live. If they can do it this cheap, what does it say about people who charge 7 times more?

    DNA Contracting
Very good. A little more attention to detail(cleanup) would improve their performance.
