  • This was a major project totaling over $100,000. The concrete work was not done to approved Town of Oyster Bay building plans. Multiple deviations were identified by the engineering firm, JR Holzmacher, when a detailed inspection of the work was performed. This is an elevated house. The front porch is 8 feet high. One end of the front porch, the south end, is 4.5 feet wide and the other end, the north end, is 4.0 feet wide. This deviation creates an awkward set back on the front elevation. A set back of 6 inches was created on the north side of the porch because Landscape Creations did not properly comply with the plans. Work was performed in 2015 without permits or approved plans. Building department inspections were not done in 2015. Concrete core samples were not taken. After a price was agreed upon with the General Contractor, Landscape Creations generated a bill for another $5,700 for helical piles. This bill was presented to us for payment. This is improper and is double billing. The helical pile log was not provided. The side door was not installed to the plans. Furthermore, in 2015 the front steps were not widened per the plans. Other defects were also found. The stairs to the deck were damaged when the pavers were installed and is unsafe. The lentil over the backdoor is rusting, The wrong type of lentil was used. The foundations for the deck posts were cut back improperly. The most serious and costly defect is the front porch deviation. I sent two email messages to Landscape Creations concerning this matter. The company did not respond to either communication. Landscape Creations did not comply with the building plans and built the porch improperly. However, Landscape Creations blames the general contractor for their defective and substandard work. Landscape Creations claims that the general contractor did not provide the plans and that the GC came to the job site and provided verbal instructions. Landscape Creations, an experienced contractor, must have known that plans existed. This was a Sandy House project and was a reconstruction project. The porch is not straight, it is skewed by 6 inches. Landscape Creations refused to fix their work and claims that the GC is at fault. The GC, Aladdin Remodelers, is out of business. Landscape Creations does not stand behind their work. Deviations from approved building plans are serious errors. The entire front porch must be removed and reconstructed. This is a major and costly effort. Landscape Creations has refused to accept responsibility for work that does not comply with approved building plans and other defects identified by the engineering firm. In addition, an additional charge of about $5,800 for helical piles was billed directly to us, after the work was performed. Landscape Creations billed both the GC and the homeowner. The homeowner paid a fixed price to the general contractor for the concrete work which included the helical piles. Landscape Creations did not have a legal right to bill the homeowner since the homeowner did not have a contract or agreement with Landscape Creations. This is a serious business process and billing irregularity. I do not recommend this company.

  • I had the worst experience with Roman Land Design. Tony initially comes across as a nice guy who seems very knowledgeable about both masonry work and planting. However once we agreed to do the work, everything changed. We ended up building a 22 x 15 patio and it took over 3 weeks just to complete this. Guys would come randomly, work half days, skip days and of course Tony was never on site. While the work looked good initially, I am seeing huge gaps now between the pavers where weeds and other debris is now accumulating. Some of the stones have shifted on the step and no longer flush against each other - these are all signs of poor workmanship. I tried raising these issues with Tony but to no avail. Unforuntaely things got worse. He promises to bring a "truckload" of plants/flowers/trees for you to pick for the landscaping - in truth he brought only the items he planned on actually planting so you didn't actually have a choice as he claimed. The worst part is two bushes are already dying including one he claimed was "over $500". I looked it up - you can get it for well under $100. And now for the worst part of this whole ordeal. At the end, he was to come back and complete a seating wall on the patio. It has been 5 WEEKS and he has not returned a single phone call or text. Everything I call his cell, it rings once and then it goes to voicemail as he is clearing rejecting my calls. I even called his office number and still those weren't returned. Please please stay away from doing business with Roman Land Design - we were fooled by Tony's charisma and knowledge and now we have an unfinished job that has parts already dying (bushes) and the patio coming apart. Tony is just another crummy contractor who cares about the money in his pocket and not doing the job right. AVOID!

  • John Starkie and his crew were awesome! John has a great eye and vision and is meticulous with the work that him and his crew perform. He's not the cheapest guy around, but you absolutely get what you pay for. He handled ever aspect of the job from drawings to pavers to driveway to picking plants. He contacted us and gave us multiple updates daily and was a pleasure to work with. You can tell that him and his crew have been doing this a long time. No delays, no issues and the job came out perfect. Was also done on time within the time frame that John stated up front. He will be my "go to" guy for any other work needed.

  • It was great! Owners James and Troy are super and their employees are the same. Professional and polite. No pressure and they are in no rush to throw the materials down and take off. They will not continue on to the next step until everything is 100%. Top quality materials are used. Neat and clean. It was one of the best contractor experiences I have ever had. Job came out perfect. The 850 sq foot driveway is stunning.

  • Cannot say enough about this company. Roger and his crew are honest, hardworking, punctual and professional. I would recommend them to everyone I know. A great experience, head and tails above other companies that have come to my house. I wish I could use them for everything I need done in my home!

  • I was very satisfied with the quality of work, the professionalism and follow-up. One of the few contractors you can rely on and who will pick up the phone after the work was done and payment has been made.

  • I made an appointment for a Saturday morning between 9 and 12 several weeks ago. The office called stating they were running late and they would be there between 3 to 4. It is now 5:43 and no one showed up or called. The office is closed now and no one is answering the phone. So Always Affordable Chimney Service gets a lousy rating.

  • Suburban Asphalt is a top notch company. Their price was also great. Tom and his crew are awesome. They worked at my house during a heat wave. Tom on site for entire job. They driveways and walkways look phenomenal. Tom is a great guy. You can bounce ideas and suggestions off him with ease. They entire process from start to completion was a breeze for me. We will definitely be using them for paver patio in yard when the time comes. Highly recommend anybody looking to do any concrete, asphalt, and or pavers to give them a call.

  •    I had at least 5 estimates for this huge job..This was an easement to be CUT out that was not developed for 30 years. This was over my neighbors front yard. There were trees, roots, bushes to be taken out. Then a 300 ft driveway by 20 feet wide with 600 ft of cobblestone needed. This also included a 14ft Apron at the street.
Devin with Flawless was the ONLY company that showed up on time each time for our multiple estimate meetings. The fact that he is big but not so big that he is not involved with each job attracted me. The fact that his price was lower than the other estimates was a plus. He probably could have gotten more money out of me because i made up my mind once we spoke and i realized how different he was than most contractors I met.
Devin came back after first meeting with a written estimate. This was very detailed of the scope of work we agreed on. I gave him a deposit and we scheduled the job. There were multiple permits needed and he worked with the town accordingly. he did not hound me for the balance of the money. Once the job was finished and I was 100% happy I paid him.
As the owner he was there each and every day. They were very clean and neat and showed up each day on time! the ground was soft and took much more base than I paid for but he stood by his estimate and did not ask for a penny more.
20K for all this work!!! And its quality work!  he will be doing my pool this spring!

  • Owners of Sarre contracting as well as their workers were a pleasure to work with. They were very hard working and took great pride in their work. Finished product turned out beautiful. I couldn't be happier with the finished product and would definitely recommend them.
