    Energy Doctors
Warren from energy doctors was very nice and thorough. He explained, in detail, different ways to conserve energy which would result in saving money. He was professional and knowledgeable. Went through the house including the basement installing CFL light bulbs where needed.

It started out ok. Energy audit went (almost) as planned. The man was punctual, and seemed to do a complete energy audit, (how would I know)  but neglected to look at the crawl space under my home. I had to call him out a second time. Promised a quote to include under the house, and  never heard back. Turns out he was no longer employed there, but the company never notified me until I made a return call a month after the second visit. I never received the audit report.
The sent a 2nd man out to resume where they left off. He was very nice, but utimately let me know Greenhomes was an international company, not local as I had somehow assumed; I prefer to keep my $$ local.
Just received a call from him today. (a month later) I told him I went with another company. I understand employee turnover, but a 10 second phone call from the company letting me know the circumstances would have been nice.

hen I received the quote for the fan, and installs, I was given an inflated price for each bath fan, I called this out and gave the retail prices for each item. Being that they should have a contractor account with HD, they should have gotten the fans at less than retail. After some back and forth, we agreed on a lower price and the work was set to begin. I did not hear from ZD, so I called to see when they were coming for the install, and found out that they forgot to order my window. They promised to order immediately, did, and called to install the window. The window install went well. They encountered a situation where an electrical line passed through the wall opening where the new window was to go. They called a supervisor who came out and rewired the outlet away from the window opening, and completed the install. The window installation itself was an A+, the chasing before it was a "C".

I was told that the insulating would start in a couple of weeks, after not hearing, I again played schedule tag with ZD. We set a date for the insulation, and all should have been good, but I had to cancel the install date due to Hurricane Irene canceling my flight back home from vacation. I called the salesperson to convey the message and reschedule. When I arrived home, and had not heard from ZD, I called to see when my new date was. I was told that the salesperson was no longer employed but that they would work to set a new date. The continual theme is not the contractor being proactive and calling the customer, but instead the customer chasing the contractor to schedule the work, It seems like they were quite content to tell me that they would do the work, but equally content to wait months before getting around to scheduling the work, and considering that maybe they should call me.

Because ZeroDraft does not work Friday through Sunday, it took longer to schedule the work by trying to fit into their M-Th work schedule. We finally agreed on a Thursday & Friday install where two work crews would come in to get the 3 days of work done in 2 days. On the day of the insulation and bath fan install, three crews showed up to complete the job in 1 work day. They never told me this change, I only learned at 5 pm when they told me they were done, and not returning Friday, because that was their day off. They seem highly motivated to rush through my job and have Friday off, than take heir time and d a quality job. During the bath fan installs, the electrician asked where we wanted switches and if we wanted fans separately switched from lights. We asked for separate and he proceeded to forget our asks, and wire them the way he wanted to.

The installers broke 2 front walk steps, did not close all insulation holes, left some cracks in my ceiling, and the electrician left a dirty sweatshirt on a door know to my child's room. They are finally fixing the cracks in my ceiling, but again the same theme, I call and chase, chase, chase until they show. They show for day 1 of the work, but need to be chased for day 2 of the patch and sand work on my ceilings. I am still waiting.

    Bottom line:
    • Had I only wanted the window, A+ for install, C for communication.
    • Overall, F for communication; D for diligence in caring for the customer; D for insulation install experience.
    • I have more work to be done in my home. Had ZeroDraft cared for me as a customer, I would have likely had them do the work, but now I will NEVER use
them again. I will choose another vendor to continue my insulation and improvement work!

    Climate Doctors
We moved into our 5 yr. old home in Oct. and were outraged at our electric costs! When there was a special for a $90 energy audit, I knew it was for me. For the energy audit, Ben arrived on time, calling to let me know expected arrival. Climate Doctors gave you an actual appointment time, not a two hour window! He was very thorough and explained WHY to my many questions! Something important to me. I feel he went above and beyond the audit -- going over what I would be able to repair myself, how much insulation should be there as opposed to how much ACTUALLY was there (only 5-6" in some spots of the attic). Very professional and definitely knew what he was talking about. My husband was concerned it would be a big sale pressure to buy a new furnace or expensive fixes. The estimate was reasonable and no pressure to have any work performed. We hired them to add additional insulation in our attic (now 18"), repair loose duct work on the furnace (that's where the heat went this winter), reseal parts of the furnace that had not been fixed by previous homeowner, add a cover to the attic stairwell and clean the dryer vent. Already you can feel the difference of the increased insulation over my daughter's room. Great job and great company to work with.

    TAG Mechanical Systems
The technician arrived almost immediately from the time I called and had the problem fixed in a matter of minutes! It was a repair we couldn't have made ourselves; he diagnosed the problem quickly and fixed it right away. Excellent service! We will be calling them again for our heating and cooling needs. Update: A few days later, the heat started turning itself off again. The thermostat was set to 68, but yet again, the temperature inside the house was 66 and falling fast. I called them again. They were here almost immediately and fixed the problem. This time the service call only cost around $30. The heat has been fine ever since. We're having them come again in the Fall to check on our furnace and make sure everything is okay for next winter.

The technician was prompt, friendly, and explained everything that was done and why. This is my second experience with Mapstone - the first was plumbing - and, again, I am very satisfied. I gave a "B" for price although I don't know if that is fair. The filter was in the area of $35.00, plus the service call where he did test and adjust the workings of the unit. He was in my home for about 50 minutes. You can judge if $150.00 sounds correct.

The technicians that they sent were good. They were friendly and professional. We didn't have any major problems, so it was just a routine check.
