    SenKep Contracting Corp.
Mark and Joe were phenomenal. They started and finished when promised, kept me updated on daily progress and had an incredible team working with them. They completely renovated the rental apartment in my house and added an additional bedroom. After demoing some walls they noticed old termite damage that was beyond repair and quickly thought of a solution. Their professionalism and workmanship are outstanding. The finished product exceeded my expectations and rented the apartment only 2 days after listing it.

    D&L Hardwood Flooring
It went very well. Jason was a pleasure to work with. The workers were friendly, punctual and neat. Most importantly they paid attention to details like I do. It went so well that I decide to do another project the following week. I expedited that project because I was very happy with the floors. I highly recommend working with them.

    Arta Construction
My husband and I own a coop and wanted to remodel our bathroom and kitchen. Arta Construction met every expectation we had throughout the construction process. They were very professional, and did top quality work. We are very pleased with the outcome!

I am a very hard person to work for. I constantly emailed them with little questions and follow-ups all along the way. Throughout the entire process, they were responsive and professional. They came out to the house twice to measure, gave us a very reasonable proposal, and did quality work. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone looking to have a new hardwood floor installed!

    Northern Floor Covering
Everyone at Northern Floor Covering did an exceptional job!  The sales rep, Natasha, spent a great deal of time with us and had some wonderful suggestions.  Jim came to our house to measure and was pleasant and professional.  The installers arrived on time, worked quickly and efficiently, and left our home as neat as possible.  They even moved our furniture.  I would recommend them highly and would definitely use them again.

    Cimino's Home Enhancements
I had been quoted as much as 14000 for this job, which I knew was way over because I knew the cost of the materials that would be needed. Mr. Cimino's estimate came in the most reasonable, he did the work himself and with care, and we're very happy with the deck.

Doug Jr. came to my house to evaluate the situation and determine what needed to be done.  An estimate was prepared based on having to pull up the carpet in two bedrooms to screw the floor down to alleviate banging and squeaking noises.  After placing screws in most of one room, they concluded that the sill of the wall separating the bedrooms was not nailed down and was causing the floor to bang on the bottom of the sill.  Screws were placed and shims were inserted from both sides of the wall.  They stayed the course until the problem was determined and resolved.  These guys were easy to talk to and treated me with respect.  They said they wouldn't leave until the issue was diagnosed and resolved.  I would call them again in a minute.

Addendum:  Doug Sr. called me, following this review, to see if I wanted them to fix the floor in the master bedroom.  It wasn't nearly as bad as the other rooms, but I agreed to have him come back.  He told me he would be in touch when he had a free day.  A few weeks later, he called, and I agreed to have him return.  I had a great degree of trujst and confidence in this company.

I took all breakables down from the furniture I thought they had to move, and put them in my walk in closet.  When Doug arrived, he went right for the closet, so I had to move everything out of there.  He started moving things for me, which I really didn't appreciate.  I stayed in the room while he worked and talked to him to break the silence.  He took his time and stopped many times to take a break.  He went in and out of the house several times--some times for a break and some times to get additional tools-- and, each time brought in more dirt on his boots (it had rained the night before).  I didn't want to say anything, as I thought he was going above and beyond to repair my floor.  The screwdriver he was using didn't have the right connector, and this caused the bit to keep coming out as he was working.  At one point, he decided that in order to pull the carpet back far enough to add a few more screws, the threshold seam was opened up between the bedroom and hallway.  I was extremely nervous, but left the work in the hands of the professional.  At this point, Doug went to his truck to get the iron to reseal the seam only to find out he didn't have it with him.  He told me he was going to the shop (about 4 exits away) and would be back in 20 minutes.  Meanwhile, everything was left undone, including the cover for the air intake.  My cat went inside, and I started to panic.  He eventually came out on his own, but it could have turned into a very difficult situation.  Doug returned about an hour or so later.  He thne joined the seam, but there were bare spots, so he took some fibers and used my glue gun to fix it.  There is now a hard spot where the glue hardened.

Also, Doug removed the brass plate where the bathroom floor meets the carpet, and when he put it back on, he reversed it.  Now it doesn't match the other one from the hallway to the bathroom.  A section of molding was damaged by the edge of the reciprocating saw used to cut the shims, and the cover to the intake is now scratched from using the drill that kept slipping.

This experience was nothing like I expected based on my first experience with this company. Edit: There are several areas where the pad makes popping noises. Since my original review, Doug Sr. has called and left messages for me several times, unrelated to the work or business. Based upon this, I would not feel comfortable having him in my home again. After the work was done, I sent a thank you card to thank them for taking time out to help me. I also indicated in this thank you that I was "not thrilled" about how the seam came out. I said I was not interested in the offer of new carpet until I needed it. (Doug Sr. asked if I wanted new carpet when he saw my dissatisfaction with the seam). Since that time, I discovered the popping noises in the pad and that the glue in the seam had hardened, so I feel that new carpet is warranted.

Follow up:  The company is refusing to refund me the $285 I initially spent.  I was told their work was guaranteed.  Their response to me was that I should have known that the carpet seam, once opened would not be right again.  I don't know how an average consumer would know this.  I put my trust in them, and lost.

    Nunez Construction and Painting
We found Nunez Construction on Angie's List. I invited 4 different companies to give us a quote for all the work we want to be done in our new home that we just purchased. We lived in a condo for years in the Upper East Side and Queens for years and it was pretty nerve-wracking to be a home owner for the first time so it is  important to us that we find someone we trust and someone who is going to be very patient to answer and explain every construction process to us, willing to work with our schedule and a deadline, make changes in case we want something  changed along the way and above all, TRUST TRUST  TRUST and CLEANLINESS after a days work.
We initially gave Efren a small job to start with just so we can get a feel of how his men work. I asked him to refinish our wood flooring on the 2nd floor of our colonial house in Whitestone, NY. His quote was $2250.00 for 3 bedrooms, walkway and stairs. It went well so I ended up awarding him other major work to be done in the house for the next 2 1/2  months. We liked his work and his men so much that we ended up spending a almost $62,000 in renovation. As much as i want to acknowledge all his men, 2 were exceptionally stand outs and that would be Efren's foreman, Eric and his right hand, Pavell. Both showed extra ordinary skill in their craft and expertise, passion and professionalism. All workers came on time every morning, at times way too early for me. Hahaha! I also never saw the entire crew waste time. They were ALWAYS working and ALWAYS at a fast mode. It felt like Efren had a remote control on his hand and put them all in "fast forward"  all the time, most especially Pavell. Every day, my husband and I would pop in and do a surprise visit  at odd times to check their work, and NOT one time did we ever caught them NOT working at all.

If you noticed, my review for Nunez Construction was not immediately posted on Angie's list after the job was completed and there is a big reason why I delayed it for months. I was waiting for any problems that they did work on that may arise along the way --- And you know what, there was nothing! And if there was, there were, all I did was call Nunez and he rectified the problem right away. The best complement I could ever give Nunez Construction  besides their exceptional work that they do in any type of construction work you may need is TRUST TRUST TRUST and CLEANLINESS. Nothing was stolen or taken away from us  and  they leave the house as if they did not do any work at all after a day's work. I remember the very last work day the entire crew worked here, my husband and i were a bit saddened as we got so close to them and felt like we built a genuine friendship to all of them, As promised Efren delivered, he had one worker in charge and all he did was clean, clean and clean. He  made sure the house was spotless and it felt like a showroom. It was so clean, so shiny, so fresh, so new...

I have so many more good things to say about Efren and his crew, but I'd like to be honest to other Angie's list members that I would probably not recommend his wood floor guy. I did not connect with him at all and whenever he came to work here, he had a NOT so pleasant attitude with me and my husband. And plus he came back here a  few times to re-do spots he missed especially on the stairs. He is  NOT as thorough as the rest of the other guys. The wood floor guy, missed many spots that were very obvious which I thought was so poor on his part- which at times made me assume his lazy or he doesn't like what he's doing. Of course, I  told ever reliable, adorable, easy going, humble, Efren the problem I was having with him and he made sure to get this guy back to our house to fix the problem which I'm very thankful for, but the guy made a lot of excuses which I thought a lot of it are  bogus excuses...It came to a point where I felt like I did not want to complain anymore to Efren as it was so uncomfortable working with with this wood floor guy. Bottom line, the attitude problem of this wood floor guy has to go!
In spite of minor challenges with the wood floor guy, to sum it all we were still very happy with the end result of our entire first floor of our house and 2nd floor, we decided to have Efren do our basement, attic and outside work in the future as well. I would still give him an "A" rating as there were many many many good things Efren and his other workers did for us that we liked. The "wood guy issue" was just a hiccup along the way.  And yes, I would highly recommend Nunez Construction to my friends, family and of course to Angie's List members.  They are the best of the best!

    QRC Home Improvement
It goes very well, I bought this apartment in Forest Hills few month ago, the requirement from building management office is very strict, they need all licenses and insurances from all individual contractor to approve , so also since there is some structure change in the plan , so they need licensed engineer to file the permit from DOB, the contractor LEO helps me find engineer and coordinate with all party to move the project forward and smooth. They did all plumbing and electrical work involved, they are doing fast to make me move in on time, otherwise  i have to pay another month rent.
I love my apartment so much, especially the kitchen and bathroom, also the neighbor in 5B would like hire them to renovate their kitchen after they see their work.

JD Home Remodeling and Repairs Inc
Jimmy and his crew are 5 stars in my opinion filled with honesty and integrity. His guys Joe, John and Manny are first rate and really know their craft.  John installed an elaborate ceramic tile kitchen floor, while leveling it over an inch on one side, complete with separate sets of different tiles as a border and inner designs and he made it all look perfect, even, and beautiful! Joe took my bedroom wall which looked like it had been through a battle and made it look pristine.  My kitchen is a very narrow galley kitchen and even working in such a small space they did it with the precision of ballet dancers, and though installing in a cramped space I never worried about damage to my new appliances or redone cabinets . Every thing was done in a timely manner. Jimmy is very honest and is great on price and I never had to haggle about anything as his quotes were well below what I though they would cost me, especially for the amount of work I kept adding, there was never any "Nickle and dimeing" all cost were right out front with no surprises. They are very flexible and had no problems accommodating my ever changing requests.  Jimmy and his "Band of Artisans"  helped take my kitchen from a 1970's nightmare and turn it into a 21th century dream. If I decide to renovate my bathroom Jimmy, without any reservations is the first person I will call  to do the job. I'm very glad that I found him and his great crew.
