Home Security System reviews in Long Island City

We couldn't be any happier with True Value Security system service. Sales person and owner Mr. Meyer was very professional and extremely helpful on advising us on which system its a right fit for us. Installation was done by two experienced installers just in two days exactly as promised. Over all we are very happy with the price and professionalism.

Karim was courteous, punctual and very professional. A year later when the property was under construction the first call we made was to Karim. He installed additional cameras and wired the whole house for cable and internet. Again he was very prompt, worked around the construction, came back when needed to finish the project. We are very happy with the results. Good reliable system at a good price. When the neighborhood had a rash of thefts our cameras caught everything. We were able to view, print and distribute photos of the vandal. Highly recommend.

This alarm and camera system were set up two years ago in my house; I've waited all this time because I wanted to see whether Mitch, the owner of the company, was true to his word about the installation and follow-up after the installation. I am pleased to report that he is. The system is working very well and Mitch has been in contact with me to check on how things are working. This could wind up as a very lengthy review, but to keep it brief, here are highlights:

    1. The installation took place on the day and time scheduled, which was Labor Day weekend of 2013, on a Saturday. Mitch and his technician were on time.

    2. Mitch and his technician spent the entire day installing both the camera system and the alarm system; they were very careful during the installation regarding wall mounts, wires and the keypad. At each step of the way, they explained what they were doing, giving me options, where available, regarding how installation might proceed.

    3. Following their work, both Mitch and the camera technician explained how all components worked; they walked me through several practices with the keypad for the alarm and the 'how to' of the recording system for the cameras.  When they left, I felt confident enough to alarm and disarm the system without major problems.

    4. During installation, Mitch discovered that a previous alarm system in the house was still active and connected to my telephone line. He explained this to me, including how the new system would tie-in to the former line with the update to the new system. This was very helpful information for me.

    5. Mitch followed up on a regular basis with me in the weeks following all this work, including a service call or two to fix a few glitches in the system. He also followed up with phone calls well after the installation (including a full year later) to check on how things were working.

    6. Whenever I have needed to contact Mitch, he has responded immediately to questions and concerns.

My only quibble with this installation was the ultimate price, which was caused by the long hours it took to put the entire system in; they were here for almost 12 hours. While this additional labor charge did upset me at the time, Mitch included a free smoke-detector tied to the alarm system, and he has remained true to his word regarding service and follow-up calls.

In short, if you are looking for a local, reliable, customer-oriented individual and company for an alarm system installation, call Mitch at True Value Security systems. He will be straightforward with you and will do a quality job. While it's taken me almost two years to complete this review, as they say, the job has stood the test of time. Mitch's quality products and reliability make his company far preferable to any of the large national chains who will arrive, install and disappear. True Value will arrive, install, and stay with the customer for as long as it takes to master the system and work with any problems or concerns that may arise. For my money, that's worth a great deal.

FrontPoint is great, thankfully I cannot review how effective they are in an actual break in, but the customer service is fantastic. I was setting a system up Labor Day Sunday, and gotta response within an hour. What's also great is that they help you set up your home automation. If they don't sell a z-wave device, they'll tell you which are compatible, and how to set them up. I've been very happy so far with them.

These guys are very professional. They have easy to install systems and take the time to ensure your home will be secure. Their customer service is great and prices competitive. Choose these guys over other, more popular home surveillance services. Very happy so far.

I had two home security camera systems installed in the past three years by so called professionals.
Received sloppy job and no service; basically once I paid, they were gone.
Then I found True Value on Angie's list.  I called Mitch, he came over promptly, evaluated the existing system and was willing to correct all the problems.  So unlike other companies who just want to sell you another brand new system. r
On the day of the project  Mitch and his two men Victor and Sean came right on time.  They were knowledgeable, neat and professional.  They re-wired and corrected 7 cameras and installed 2 new ones.  They reused some of the existing cameras, so I saved some money.
As or the wiring in the electrical closet, I should have taken before and after pictures - it is so neat now.
And they even closed the holes in the bricks from the previous installations.
Important note - Mitch supervised the entire project, he was physically there the entire time of the installation.
True Value gets top rating from me and I would highly recommend them.  You get what you pay for.
My only regret is that I didn't contact Mitch three years ago.

Mitchell, the owner of True Value is an earnest salesman, not pushy, but he definitely covers all the bases. For that reason I found him to be honest and trustworthy, two paramount credentials for someone securing your home. He initially came to our house over a month ago to speak to us about what we wanted, what was available, and what would work best for our home and our lifestyles.  We tentatively decided on a "Total Connect" package which included door and window sensors, central monitoring, and a new state of the art control panel which can be controlled from an iPhone app. In addition he agreed to include free of charge, two key chain units similar to those for an automobile. Six weeks later when I called Mitchell to tell him we were ready, without missing a beat he remembered exactly what we wanted, the price we had agreed upon and the extras he threw in to sweeten the deal.
We agreed upon a date and time for the installation, Mitchell showed up on time, we did a walk through of the areas and he went right to work. As issued arose, such as placement problems for the motion sensor or the wireless sensors, he spoke professionally about what wouldn't work and what fixes were best. After installing all of the equipment he gave me a very thorough overview of the features and functions of the system. The new control panel is like an ipad, full color, very intuitive, and it even gives you weather and traffic updates! The panel in fact is so high-tech, that our system only uses a portion of its capabilities, but we wanted something that could perhaps be expanded on in the future and this panel will accommodate that. The key chain locks have been a great bonus and makes using the system even easier. It's clear that True Value is in the business of building relationships, the installation is at great rate and the caveat is that it's on a five year monitoring contract. We'll still be living there and wills till want our house secure so that was not an issue for us at all. You can do shorter monitoring contracts I believe but that changes the cost of installation.
After all was said and done we completed the paper work and within two days I had gotten an email confirmation that our Total Connect account had been set up. So far we have had no problems with the system or equipment and rest well knowing our investment is protected by True Value Security.
The $525 spent included equipment, installation, and three months of monitoring.

Great company, very helpful on the phone.  It was all send to me promptly and the set-up was a cinch. More astoundingly, it worked without any hick-ups. A rare feat these days.
