    • Great Repair Service in Miami, especially for Larger Vehicles
    • Over the last eight years in Miami, I have wasted a lot of time and money at incompetent and deceitful auto repair shops. So I was very happy to find extremely good service and follow-up at Alonso Transmission this past summer. They remain the first shop I recommend to friends, especially when they are having problems with larger vehicles.
    • My 23-ft. class-C RV is built on a 1986 Chevy G-30 van chassis. Less than 50 miles after spending $1,600 on repairs at the Goodyear shop run by Carl Pelt and Sons in Homestead, FL, smoke was billowing out of the rear wheel area and it would only move in Reverse gear. Even though the work was still under warranty, I saw no point in bringing the vehicle back to Pelt and Sons for yet more slow and useless ���repair.���
    • After consulting with auto service centers over the phone, the consensus was that the transmission needed to be overhauled, with cost estimates ranging from $1,400 to over $2,000. My first thought was to go to locally well-known Wiwi Transmissions since they had done good work on another vehicle of mine back in 2007. But Wiwi said they were not equipped to handle a RV. Fortunately, a light repair shop near my home in S. Miami said that, for many years, they had been sending all such jobs to Alonso Transmission because they were way more dependable than any other company, even the one a just a few doors down the street. Before entrusting them with my RV, I visited Alonso and was encouraged to see how professional and well-organized both the office and shop were. They also had the strong lifts and height clearance to do work on trucks; as they proudly stated, my RV was not nearly as big as the county school buses they regularly service.
    • Over the following week, Alonso Transmission���s staff, especially their mechanical troubleshooter Ralph and office manager Rey, constantly proved to be very cordial, knowledgable, meticulous, and honest.
    • Their superior service started with just getting the RV over to the shop in the first place. S. Miami AAA had sent two different tow trucks to try to haul it, but neither could figure out how to get the rear wheels to roll forward. During this ordeal, Ralph, who is fluent in both English and Spanish, advised us by phone repeatedly over a period of two hours despite it being past normal business hours (he didn���t charge me for the time). After we gave up on AAA, he sent over a crew that solved the problem quickly.
    • The RV was delivered to the shop in the late afternoon and Rey reported back to me the next morning that the problem was not the transmission, but cheap parts that had crumbled and jammed the rear drum brakes, causing the wheels to lock in any Forward gear. These were exactly the parts that Pelt and Sons had installed less than 50 miles earlier. Before starting any work, Rey gave me an estimate that detailed every part, service, and labor time that would be needed to fix the problem, emphasizing that I should use high-quality parts. Since everything was reasonably priced, I let them add on a warranteed transmission inspection and service: the vehicle was old, there was no record of transmission maintenance or inspection ever having been done, and so I
    • thought it was worth making sure everything was in good shape before I went on a long trip. The work was promptly done and I was relieved to see that not a single penny more was charged than the list I had originally approved.
    • Because of the age of the RV, there were other small repairs that I requested after the main work was done and which Alonso promptly performed, some of them for no charge at all, such as installing a new battery tray (the old one had corroded away). It
    • is common knowledge that shops that can do difficult transmission work well are also skilled at doing simpler repairs; Alonso Transmission proved this adage to be true.
    • A few days later, I was on the road again, the RV running more smoothly than it had ever done in recent years. I encountered no problems during the 600-mile round-trip. When Rey called to follow up on the repair and invite me to bring it back for a free check-up, I was too far away to bring it in. I felt that the invitation was a fine courtesy to extend and showed me that Alonso Transmission has confidence in their work.
    • After unbelievably bad experiences with repair shops in Miami, whether for mechanical or body work (the one exception being Wiwi Transmissions, which, however, as I���ve already mentioned, does not work on RVs), I couldn���t help but feel that I had karmically earned the pleasure of receiving great, honest service at Alonso Transmission. I expect its fine reputation to continue to grow and that it will be rewarded with wonderful success for its superior work and unmatched dedication to customers.

    I had an appointment, but arrived early. My car is more then a couple years old so I knew already it had a couple of 'issues'. They did the oil change and checked the car out. We waited in the waiting room while the car was being worked on and it didnt take that long. Some of the repairs that was recommended were not done at the time, because I needed to use the car. Everyone there was very nice.

    They are fantastic.  I’ve used them for pretty much all of our auto needs.   They are the go to mechanic for our car needs.  They took a look at a used car before we purchased it.  Very trustworthy.

    I have been going to them for about 8 years. They do good work and I trust them. Their prices are reasonable. I like that it is a family business and they have been around since the 1960’s. They are very dependable and I can talk to them about cars and I do not feel intimidated. I deal with Tommy the mechanic, because I like him and I feel comfortable with him. They are always busy, so you may have to wait. People come from all over to go to them.

    I want my 2006 Mazda to last forever, so I bring it here for regular servicing. This is a great place for people like me who know nothing about mechanics. The workers are always pleasant and never try to sell you anything extra unless you inquire. They also do inspections, and you don't have to worry about them faking car problems, because they are not mechanics and have no financial incentive to pretend your car has an issue. The free full service car wash is always a nice bonus.
    So, although you can get cheaper oil changes, their comprehensive servicing is worth the extra cash.

    it was the most unbelievably horrible and costly experience i've had with a car.
    most days allen was not in the shop and those days he was there he was "waiting" for the parts to arrive.  he refused to order the parts from the delearship / manufacturer, he would always say he "knows a guy" who can do the same work cheaper.  i would show up to his shop unscheduled to find my car just gathering dust while the same two shop workers shook their head as i asked allen for an update. the update was always, "i think the part / guy is coming tomorrow but i can't guarantee it".
    nothing was guaranteed. the only thing i left with was a vehicle pulled apart and not working.
    after having the car for more than 60 days to repair or replace a parts i had to tow my vehicle to the dealership for proper repair.
    i will ONLY take my vehicle to the dealership going forward. at least they will stand behind their work and actually work hard to make sure the vehicle works properly and the customer is treated fairly.

    We have been using Cuba regularly for auto repair the last few years and have been very happy with their work. Alex is always very clear about when he can get the work done and the price of the work. His estimates are very fair and we feel he has been very honest with us when work was not necessary or when a less expensive option was possible. We have been very happy with the quality of his work on our car and our van.

    We had a really good experience with them. When I went online, I saw that their reviews were great. It was terrific. They were very professional and took care of everything we needed. It was expensive but they did a great job. We were really concerned about where to go. The service charge was expensive. It was about $135 an hour. The price was better than some other people. They were great and they completed the service really quickly. We went to some other place and asked them to fix the car. They took it for the night and drove it all over the place and had it for a week. I saw the mileage on the car and it was enormous. They charged us $250 and we still have the problem.  For Manhattan Jeep Chrysler, the car was working perfectly. I took it on a long trip and it was great. The price was comparable to anybody else who did the work that they needed to do. They were responsive. As a matter of fact, they did things that we didn’t even asked them to do. They did things that I didn’t think of but really needed to be done. They’re very punctual. They are incredibly professional.

    What I like about them is the fact that they have what you called a big bay which handle a lot of cars all at once so you know that you make your appointment then will tell you it’s going to be one-hour, two-hour or three hours and you can be pretty sure that how long it going to take them because they know how much room they have for your car when you make an appointments with them and they're pretty good with that when showing up for your appointment.
