    Major Homes Corp
939 Gerry Avenue Lido Beach, NY 11561 April 25th 2018 To whom it may concern, As an executive in the building materials business selling hundreds of companies for over 45 years, I knew Major Homes as a former customer of mine and was very impressed with how they ran the business for over 3 generations. So, when Hurricane Sandy destroyed the lower level of my home I turned to Major Homes to rebuild my home. To say the least, it was an extremely difficult project because of the complete flooding of the entire level of the home. To make it more challenging, I had to remain in my home during the project and had an immense amount of documentation required as well as the challenge to get my insurance proceeds. The awesome handling of the project was beyond description with an incomparable project manager and the most professional and courteous sub-contractors. Each person from Major Homes acted more like a relative than a worker. They were faultlessly clean and quiet and left the premises each day extremely clean with no debris or dust laying around. The job was also started and completed in exactly the time they estimated and the work was perfect. To wit, I had my own painter come in to paint the and he commented that he never saw a job done so well and left in such a perfect ready to paint condition. Of special note is how the owner, Mitch Kersch, is available 7 days a week for any calls and/or e-mails. I only had to call him to compliment his people and he answered his phone and quickly responded to all his e- mails. However, that is not really why I am taking the time out to write this review. Again, as a former executive that built two major companies, as a sales representative and as a consultant in the industry, I have seen so many companies and so many projects in my career. I can also look back at the jobs at my neighbors/friends homes and heard them complain about their projects. Then I think about my home and project and marvel at how well everything has lasted and been so durable. I have had no call-back issues, no product failure, no dissatisfaction with anything done and only good memoriesafter a horrific event. I just feel this needs to be said and Major Homes needs to get the kudos fo a fantastic company that has taken care of their business for three generations and thousands of customerslike me! AWEFUL. WALKED into the condo to fiND A BIG MESS. There installment people never cleaned upThey left the carpet full of threads and left over yarn! The carpet was needed to be gone over and made presentable after installing it! It was a mess!! Yarn and pilfering all over the living room and foyer area. After paying. $4000. The should have performed better service. The place needed to be vacuumed . Being a senior lady it was a difficult thing to do . They piled all th furniture in a small room and left it there!! It was impossible to move all the furniture they jammed into the small den! Very very poor service and consideration for a senior lady! Would NEVER USE them or recommend them. I trusted them to install while I was in Florida ... Big mistake!!!!! The family owes 10 houses and. I would. Not. Not. Use these incompetent. Carpet people!!

    A-Z Nassau Construction
Mario Rappa of A-Z Nassau Construction is amazing. PERIOD.  The work product is absolutely stellar!
While not the cheapest of our estimates - A-Z Nassau Construction fell somewhat in the upper-middle of the estimates we received.  Even before we accepted his proposal, Mario showed up for the estimate as scheduled and delivered a very comprehensive estimate SAME DAY.
We had some timing constraints yet we were able to get priority scheduling -- again, a good example of Mario of A-Z Nassau Construction understanding critical issues and acting on them.
Bathroom was to get ripped out down to studs.  Of course, as with most Long Beach bungalows and older homes -- there were some surprises which Mario quickly assessed and provided solutions.  These 'additional' items were handled fairly in terms of price as well as appropriately resolved (construction wise).
The sheetrock/taping/spackling were oustanding!  Tile work/grout/painting and all other aspects of the project were also done with extreme care and perfection.  I can be fairly nit-picky - and I had NO complaints about Mario and his team's work.
Additionally, we had separate plumbers and electricians working on this project and reports back from these other providers was that Mario was a true professional and great to deal with.  Mario was onsite and doing a lot of work himself; he is not a business owner who oversees many crews/many jobs; there is a lot of personal attention from this owner/operator which is a big plus.
I would definitely hire Mario/A-Z Nassau Construction again!

    Pappas Bros Home Improvement
Nick Pappas is the general contractor for Pappas Brothers Home Improvement. We initially found Pappas Brothers on Angies List in January 2012 and were impressed by Nicks quality of work and professionalism.  When Superstorm Sandy destroyed our home only a few months after he completed the initial project we immediately contacted Nick. He predictably picked up the phone and we began the unexpected journey of a lifetime.

To say that my  husband and I were in anything other then a state of panic would be a lie.  My husband and I along with our six month old daughter and 3 year old son moved in with my parents while we began the long and tedious fight with our insurance company, the government red tape and the NY Rising Program.  Nick was supportive and familiar with the different  loan processes and the different options we were looking into to fund the project and move home. This was obviously an added bonus to us hiring him.  Like many others in our community of Long Beach, as well as other hit hard by the storm, we were shorted by our insurance and were struggling in figuring out what exactly the NY Rising Grant would really be able to do for us.  When our funds did not come in as planned and agreed upon in our contract with Pappas Brothers Nick never stopped working.  He showed extreme patience and understanding that you would not expect from a contractor.

Nick made it  very clear from the start that his mission for his company is to provide excellent customer service and prides himself on the quality of work that is associated with any Pappas Brothers project.  He was very motivated to make my family happy and satisfied with the work he was doing. He behaved in a manner I consider to be above and beyond what is expected of a contractor.  There is not a time I can remember through this whole ordeal that I ever attempted to get a hold of Nick that he did not respond to a text or phone message with in minutes to at most an hour.  There was never three days of waiting and constantly calling to get a response like several of my friends reported about their contractors. He responded to any concerns quickly and professionally..

Nicks employees work hard and were extremely respectful and aware of the neighbors when they began working on the project.  I had numerous neighbors who commented on how fast and focused they appeared when working on building the frame of the home.

My children who refer to him as "Nick The Builder" loved having Nick around.  I view Nick as a man with integrity, exceptional carpentry skills, an amazing work ethic, with a true love and excitement for what he does.  My husband and I have no doubt that based on our experiences with Pappas Brothers we will be customers for life.

We have and will continue to refer Nick Pappas of Pappas Brother Home Improvement to any one who is looking for a reasonably priced, skilled carpenter with integrity and a real internal motivation to do the job right.

    Kas Carpet
I've used Kas before, they are reliable and prices are very good. I went in on a weekday evening and picked out 4 carpets for 4 rooms, I supplied the measurements. Within a week they came and installed 4 carpets, very promptly and cleaned up everything. The work was well done. It probably went quickly because there was no furniture but I appreciate that they have so many carpets to choose from, all in stock, and they can get in to install as soon as you can accommodate them.

They did a good job on my floor. They did four rooms for me in my house, oak floor and the wood was very good. Everything was good. Overall I was very happy with them. We had an outside contractor put down the wood.

    Devito's Home Improvement

It all went very well.  If there was a problem, we discussed it.  For instance, the three support posts for the center beam needed

more concrete for proper shoring.  An extra three feet of sand  was dug out in a 2 x 2 foot frame to give each of the posts a proper shoring & support.  I was very happy of the end results.   It is now a basement with  a washer/dryer, a tankless water heater for heat & hot water along with a circuit breaker box and a concrete floor. This basement originally had an oil burner furnace for heat & hot water with the oil tank under the front porch.  All were destroyed by the superstorm Sandy.
