Highlander Waterproofing of Western New York
This outfit was great. They were very professional throughout the job. They kept me informed about the process. It was a big job, and, as expected, on site job modifications became necessary. They were candid, transparent, and exceedingly reasonable about incorporating those changes into the overall plan. I would definitely use them again, and have already recommended them to several friends. I own a lot of properties and use a lot of contractors, and I don't think I have ever dealt with a more honest and reputable group.

    Frank's Basement Systems
I'll start off with the positives and say that my basement is dry and my sewer line remains clear. That's about the extent of the positives. (Hence, not a complete failing grade) When I first had Frank's here for an estimate, I tried my best to be prepared with appropriate questions about the entire process of the work that I needed to have done. I inquired about the clean-out lines being flush to the ground and was assured they would be as they sit in the middle of my lawn . (They're a good 4-6 inches above) I also asked about the aftermath of the work. They understandably explained that they would not reseed the area. However, I did not expect to have rocks ranging from golf ball size to the size of my head along with broken pieces of the old ceramic pipe and other debris lying on the surface. When I called to complain about the situation they scheduled a visit from Frank himself a few days later. He reiterated the point they they are not responsible for the landscaping but did have the man accompanying him remove some of the debris. Knowing that the soil need time to settle, I figured I would wait until that happened and reseed the following spring. Unfortunately, there was so much clay that the seed never took and the natural rain erosion and settling has exposed more of the boulders and broken pipe (see photo) which my grandson wound up cutting his foot on. In my travels, I've seen other similar jobs and I have yet to see one left as despicable as this. I would have gladly paid a little more to have some fresh topsoil (maybe 4-6 inches) placed atop the trench to alleviate this problem but having never seen such an outcome, I didn't think it would be necessary to have that stipulated. They also had to remove a portion of my hedges in the process which they failed to return to their original place. Then there's the basement waterproofing. My basement did not have a sump pump but an open floor drain. As part of the project I had them install the sump pump for the perimeter drainage to run to. When I first got the estimate, I specifically asked if the discharge from the pump would go through the new line to the road and was told yes. Not until I noticed them cutting a hole in the side of my house (after the sewer line work was completed) did the men doing the work tell me that the pump could not be fed into the new line. I brought this up during the previously mentioned visit from Frank. He confirmed the requirements and said it would cost me another $1000 to get that done. When I told him about what I was told during the estimate and he basically said that I was wrong. In summary, if you consider using this company, get every last detail in writing or expect to incur additional expenses to correct the unwritten issues they will leave you with. The primary function of their work is good but the attention to detail is rather lacking. I would doubt that Frank would be happy either if his property were treated in a similar fashion.

    Healthy Basement Systems
They overcharge and they left a hole in my basement that they didn’t fixed.  Even the insurance company was unhappy with that. Our basement flooded and we had damage from mole that had grown.

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup
This project ended up taking the efforts of 3 different people between the plumber and their restoration folks. They were fast, professional, and set up all their equipment to dry us out so that we'd be ready for new drywall. They also called our insurance for us and sent someone out to Lockport on Sunday morning to remove all their equipment before our son's graduation party that day!

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

They did a great job with minimal mess.  He even took pictures before burying the pipe so my husband could see how it was rerouted. He also made it more accessible for future repairs or unclogging.

They just left me high and wet. He left dirt piles all over my yard. I had to have someone else redo the whole drainage system inside and out. He didn't know what he was doing. It cost me a lot more money in the long run.

    Ivy Lea Construction
It went very, very well.  Communication from the office staff and the project supervisor was excellent.  Very professional approach from all.  Care was taken to cover carpets; remove dust & debris throughtout the duration of work; and any exposed openings over night. They are a top-notch company and I would recommend them to anyone. I chose them over a lower estimate because of their reputation and the original impression of knowledge or making things right.  You do get what you pay for and if your job is of a major importance, you do need to with check Ivy Lea.

Although it took Rick a few days to respond to my call initially, and several weeks to get to the job, once started Rick and his crew worked diligently, about 12 hours per day for three days to get the job done. They were always polite, considerate and professional. Rick explained everything he was doing or about to do and answered any questions in a thorough and friendly manner. We are very satisfied with his work. In fact, we are considering hiring RJR for several other projects, including bathroom renovation and a new roof.
