This company is by far the best I've dealt with as far as HVAC work is concerned. They were on time and ready to go. They replaced the water heater, replaced about 18 inched of pipe (including corner) due to a leak and they put a valve in where one was needed but didn't exist. They were professional and courteous. I am calling them back some some additional work I need done.

    Zenner & Ritter Home Services
Once the furnace was installed and winter came around, and the furnace finally came on, there were issues. The furnace was not staying on and it wasn't heating the house. I called them and they came promptly to look at it. The first repair guy didn't really come down, he kind of said that for new furnaces, the air filter could be dirty. The second time when I called back, they came right away. Basically what they should have done is, they should have kept the setting on the furnace a little higher than when they first installed it. The first guy that I called  to say the furnace wasn't working should have come down to take a look at it. He shouldn't have just said that it could have been that the filter was dirty. It was a brand new furnace and he told me so. The second guy was great and he came down. He told me that what the first guy told me was wrong and I should have told him that I wanted to speak to someone else. He said that the first repair guy shouldn't have left me hanging like that. The second guy was good.

Let me begin by saying that the generator is terrific.  We have experienced several short-term storm-related power outages since the generator was installed in November, 2014, and the generator has worked like a dream.  Definitely a good product and investment.
The problems we experienced in our interactions with Zenner and Ritter (hereafter referred to as Z&R) were as follows:
    1.  Z & R failed to obtain a building permit from the Town of Lewiston prior to beginning installation of the generator.  A permit is required. We originally contracted to have the generator installed in August, so that Z&R had from August 2014 to November 2014 to obtain a building permit.  Z & R lied to us about having the permit.  The Town of Lewiston building inspector verified that Z & R had submitted an application for a permit the day before construction began, but that the permit was not issued until weeks later, and that the work was in fact begun and essentially completed without a valid building permit.  Fortunately the Town of Lewiston did not fine or penalize us.
    2.  The electrical sub-contractor Z&R sent to make the changes to our electrical panel to accept the generator hookup did not do the work to code, and the work failed the initial inspection.  The sub-contractor repeatedly failed to return to complete what was essentially a 30 minute repair.  Z and R failed to follow up in a timely fashion, so that an installation and inspection that should have taken a week at the most took over 5 months to resolve.  [The electrical contractor was separately reviewed on Angie's List under the business name: Melton Electric.]  Z and R kept re-assuring us that the work had been done and the inspection approved when in fact NO ONE had been out to do the repairs, the second inspection had never been scheduled because the repairs had never been done, and the Town of Lewiston building department never received the mandated approval from their inspector signing off on the electrical installations.  Z&R finally sent out a different electrical contractor, who completed the repair to the satisfaction of the electrical inspector 5 MONTHS AFTER THE INITIAL INSTALLATION.
     3. Z & R's billing department overcharged us repeatedly by $900, because they mistakenly creditied our downpayment to some other customer's account.  It took several go-rounds with copies of the canceled checks to get them to correctly credit our payments.
We found the staff at Zenner and Ritter to be very disorganized and either woefully uninformed about what their techs had or had not accomplished or downright prone to dissembling.  We love the generator, but will never, and we mean NEVER do business with Zenner & Ritter again.

    Steves Heating & Air Conditioning
I think he was very fair and honest and it seemed like he was down to earth.  The owner Steve is really good too.  He actually comes out and asks how it’s going and people that work for him they virtually are all family.

It took a little longer to complete the installation than they originally estimated, but it was done within a reasonable time. There was also a question about the final price but after a conversation with the office administrator it was worked out satisfactorily.

    GRAY FURNACE SERVICE INC
They answered an urgent call and came within an hour. A part had to be ordered but he showed me how to keep it running. True to his word, he called the next day and had the part needed. Arrived on time and was very efficient. I would recommend.

    Steves Heating & Air Conditioning
Very professional and efficient. The quote was competitive, and the installers came on time and did a proficient and clean job. The furnace seems to be working fine. One thing that has impressed me further is the efficiency of the office. There is always a and quot;live personand quot; answering the phone, and she is very knowledgeable. There were some rebates and extended warranties that came with my furnace. The installers left the paperwork, but when I went to apply, I found that (except for the gas company's) they had already been taken care of by the office. They know their business, both in terms of the equipment and the paperwork, and seem to have a very good relationship with the manufacturer (Lennox). I have a high degree of confidence in the new furnace, and expect that Steve's will respond quickly if I have problems.

    Reimer Heating & Air Conditioning
In fairness, no services were provided, but I would like to caution people dealing with this business to SHOP AROUND first.
I needed a new furnace, and had 3 quotes.  Reimer was going to be the last.  The first 3 quotes were closely bunched (between $3200 and $3500), and I was going to let my judgment of contractor quality decide.
The person who came out was an estimator only, not a tradesman.  This kind of specialization usually means the business is high volume.  I had decided on Lennox, and the receptionist told me they were a Lennox dealer.  But the estimator told me Remier has their own line!  I was right about the volume.  It was a rebranded unit from some major manufacturer.  He said he could also quote me on Lennox, but obviously their own brand was going to come in lower.  He was touting all sorts of long-term warranties that came with their brand, although all of them were underwritten only by Reimer.   I said he may as well go ahead and quote on the house brand, although I was determined not to let a low price sway me to get something whose origin I wasn't sure of.
Well, I didn't have to worry about the tempting low price on the house brand.  Imagine my shock when he quoted me over $5500!  I didn't even bother asking him to leave the quote.  I told him flat out he wasn't even close to being competitive.  He didn't spend another second trying to sell me.  All he did was thank me for the opportunity, took his things, and left.  It gave me a very strong impression of "well, I tried but he didn't bite."
I can't comment on any of their work obviously, but I did not like their business methods, and the way out-of-line quote speaks for itself.

    Steves Heating & Air Conditioning
Steve's Heating and Cooling did a throughly competent job in removing the old oil furnace and the two large oil tanks in the basement.  The finished basement site was not an easy one for this big task but they handled a difficult transition with skill and with total consideration to the home. which was left spotless.  The tanks were removed with not a drop of oil spilled and no smell of oil remained in the house.  They had access to the house as I had complete confidence in Steve.  On our return the job was done to our total satisfaction.  The improvement in air flow is quite noticeable and the system is practically silent.
Steve responded promptly to our initial inquiry about a new furnace, visited the site, and submitted a proposal in a very timely and professional approach.  He clearly demonstrated his knowledge of heating and cooling systems and impressed us with his agreeableness and professionalism.
We had a wonderful, trouble free experience with Steve's Heating and Cooling.  He does excellent work, is conscientious about detail, leaves a pristine site, and is a pleasure to work with.  I would wholeheartedly recommend Steve to anyone needing a professional in heating and cooling.

    GRAY FURNACE SERVICE INC
Owner returned my call same day I left a message I was interested in having an A/C unit installed. I only had fuses at the time. Advised me I could put in a sub panel but suggested all circuit breakers would be better. Did not pressure me into the breakers or a new furnace but I had already received a price on both so I asked him to quote both furnace a:::d A/c. Cost was so reasonable to other company I had both units done. I had my choice of 3 days in that week, including Sat. Installers arrived on time, finished everything same day. All old parts were removed, all areas were cleaned and the new units were tested and explained to me. Overall, a very positive experience.
