    Shells Only Complete Home Improvements
We used Shell Only for 2 large home renovations. While our foreman, Denny, and his team were excellent, the quality of the product was not. Particularly the laminate flooring that was used throughout our house during the second renovation. At the time we chose the cabinets, windows and fixtures we were also asked to choose the color of the floor. We live in a Levit home on a concrete slab and had a wonderful PERGO floor prior to this. So we were expecting no less. What we got was a terrible product right from the beginning. We trusted Shells and if they told us to choose a different floor we would have. The floor pulled apart and showed bumps from the cement underneath. Shells came and tried to nail it down. My family and I have to live with this floor. Shells never did the right thing by us, which would have been to refund the cost of the floor in this part of the house or replace it. I would not recommend this company because they do not stand by there work and do not have the character or professionalism to make things right.

    ISLANDER HOME IMPROVEMENTS INC
Islander Home Improvement did a complete first floor renovation on our house in January 2019. This included insulation, sheetrock, electrical, plumbing, all new flooring, bathroom and kitchen. The job went very well, Pat the owner was always available to speak to, and kept us informed each morning of what work would be completed each day. Joey his project manager had great ideas, and a great eye for detail. We are very happy with the job, and the time in which it was completed. We would use Islander again!

There is no other contractor out there like Pat alongside his foreman for the jobs Joey. They are the best. If you ever want to be be confident in work being done, hire them. Just sit back and relax because I COULD NOT have asked for a better job. My vision is what they produced. They are personable. They listen. They are punctual. They are clean. And most importantly. The price is the price. Thank you to Pat and Joey. We now have the home we wanted from the get go.

    JMJ Residential Construction Inc.
Jeff was contracted to do siding, demo and total interior renovation on a property in Levittown I purchased months before Hurricane Sandy. He demo'd the interior and when the interior called for a lally column to counter sink the header to raise the ceiling, he measured improperly and expected me to pay for the problem. He only completed the siding and did so poorly. there were specific pieces of siding at the apex of the roof that continually fell off from wind because they were cut too short. I had to pay others to fix ALL the problems he created for me. Instead of just being straight forward and honest about his limitations, he touted how much he knew and how good he was. I'm sure he had some defined abilities but managing an entire gut project was totally out of his scope and ability. In good conscience i could not professionally refer him to anyone.

This was a total home remodel, meaning a gut job to the studs in 2012. Jeff's work was below average, the apex of the roof where the siding and J Channel connect continually blew off in the wind because he cut the siding too short. I was counter sinking the header between the kitchen and main room, he ordered the lally columns and measured too short; the contractor I hired to complete the house and fix his mistakes trashed approx $1200- for the columns alone. Not including the costs associated with fixing the siding. The only thing done well was the demo. For the work that was completed I was totally over charged, then badgered to pay him more which I refused. I'm sorry I didn't have time to take him to court to recover some costs. I would not recommend him. He may have learned more since then but I believe this job was over his head in scope and he chose to not be straight forward about his skill set at the time. To make matters worse he was referred through a fellow Real Estate agent.

    Ambassador Home Improvement
In four short months, Ambassador Home Improvement turned our basic Levit cape into a beautiful 2700 sq ft mother-daughter home - all within budget and in time. More than that, the quality and craftsmanship of the work as well as the dedication of the Ambassador team gets my highest recommendation and wholehearted endorsement. If you need a quality job done properly, beautifully, and on time, dont waste your time with others, just call Ambassador. After researching area contractors and asking around for recommendations, we decided to go with Ambassador mainly because of their stellar reputation for high quality jobs done in a timely fashion. We also brought a challenging set of circumstances to Gary Zaccaro and his team. My father, who was diagnosed with dementia several years ago, would have to move out of the house while the renovation was being completed. While we thought dad could handle this, it was important that our contractor work quickly and within a promised time frame. The situation only got worse as just when we were slated to move forward, he was diagnosed with colon cancer. The stress of my family was incredible but through all of this, Gary and Doug Foote (our project manager) made sure to work us into their production schedule and were incredibly sensitive to my familys needs. We funded the project using a 203K Mortgage. This type of loan is very paper-work intensive, and it took a little effort on my end to follow the draws and disbursements from the bank. However, Michele and Kathy in the Ambassador office made sure that the paperwork was always in order and answered any of my questions promptly. One of the keys to Ambassadors success, I think, is the very able and professional office support staff. They are wonderful. While we used our own architect, Gary and Doug worked seamlessly with him to ensure that our project was completed just as we envisioned it. As for the actual work, there was never a doubt in my mind that we were going to have the nicest house in the neighborhood once Ambassador was completed. From day one on April 24 when the demo crew showed up, the work moved along at an incredible pace. Within a week our home had a roof and windows, and we were well on our way to project completion. I developed a very strong working relationship and friendship our PM Doug. If I ever had a question or concern, Doug answered my text or call within ten minutes no matter what time of day or night, week day or weekend. In my opinion, Doug was the lynchpin to our getting back into the house on August 24 four months to the day from when we began. We were promised a four month completion and thats exactly what we got, due in large part to Dougs skills and ability to coordinate and incredible number of subcontractors, tradesmen and craftsmen. Not only was Doug a great project manager, but he helped us envision a few alterations to the project along the way that made the finished project even better. He has a great sense of space and design and a keen ability to get things done that is impressive and a true testament to the skilled crew and quality work that Gary guarantees at the beginning of the process. To give you an idea of how impressed we are with Doug he knows that our door is always open to him if hes driving in the area day or night and we feel we could not have gotten through this stressful summer when so much family stuff was going on parallel to our renovation without his support and assistance. A few notes on other highlights of working with Ambassador. The rest of the Ambassador in-house crew couldnt have been more courteous and professional. The guys (Anand, Jose, Sinbad) were quick to help me move a piece of furniture or help move building supplies around, even if it wasnt their responsibility. The job site was always kept clean and safe and we could always rely on someone from the Ambassador crew giving us a heads up if a package got delivered or if they saw something at the house that they thought needed our attention as homeowners. Additionally, our plumber Anthony Belmonte really stood out as a man truly dedicated to his craft. My wife and I were due to go on vacation at the very end of the project but we needed to be sure that the house was livable for my folks before we left. Anthony and his mechanic Chris stayed until 9 PM one evening making sure the sinks were hooked up and ready to go so that my wife and I could leave my parents without worrying about them. The entire Ambassador team was really in tune with our familys needs from start to finish. As for the nuts and bolts our job was completed with the highest-quality materials and finishes including Andersen windows, Thermatru exterior doors and solid-wood interior doors (not the hollow core kind from the big box stores). You really get a sense that Gary and the team wouldnt use anything but the best building materials because of the pride they take in their work. Even down to the joists (which were over-engineered vs. the architects specs) we know that everything in the house, on the house, behind the walls, and under the floors is top-notch. I cannot say enough about the Ambassador team, the company, and the speed and quality with which our project was completed. While anyone can use high quality materials, it takes a special group of people to make a high quality company. We were blessed and fortunate to work with Ambassador, lucky to have Doug as our project manager and could not recommend this company and these people enough. Please call them you will not be disappointed!

    Delfino Insulation - Westbury
My husband and I recently purchased in Levittown and were surprised to see crawl spaces with no insulation. After seeing positive reviews for Del Fino I decided to check them out. Jose called me back quickly after speaking with a receptionist. We set up a meeting time that was convenient for me and he came to my house. I had another quote happening at the same time and he was fine with being there with another sales person for our Oil company. Once I showed him the 4 crawl spaces in question he immediatly told me what our issue was - and that it wasn't the insulation. He was honest, and still gave me a quote for the job incase I would like to do it in the future - but he gave us alternatives to putting in all new insulation, which are working perfectly. My husband and I will definitly work with Del Fino in the future if we do decide to spray insulate our crawl spaces. All positive feedback from us!

    ISLANDER HOME IMPROVEMENTS INC

Islander Home Improvement did a great job.  They started on time, responded to all our questions quickly and kept us in the loop with how the job was progressing and how much longer it would take.  They were friendly, clean, and were careful not to do any damage on any part of the house while doing their work.

    Delfino Insulation - Westbury

Jose who did the estimate was professional and thorough. The price was good both for removal and installing the insulation. Scheduling was very quick (within 2 days of estimate). Workers were on time (in fact 10 min early). Quality if the insulation was good and the baffles were installed correctly between the roof and insulation. I was under the impression that they were to remove the debris and cart it away, this was not the case. They had to be given trash bags (what company does not supply their workers with trash bags in a removal or clean up if it is contracted?) The debris was left in my yard haphazardly.

Now we come to the part of the review where I explain why I gave them an "F" in professionalism. (My wife is a contractors dream, she supplies coffee in the morning, water throughout the day and will go by them lunch if they did not bring their own) The workers arrive and pretend to not speak word one of English. My wife makes them coffee and off they go to start the job. At my request (I was at work) she goes up stairs to see how things are going and if the men are ok or need more coffee. The apparent site supervisor (name unknown) answers her question rudely with a wave of his hand telling her to "go back downstairs". She does and later when she went back up to see how the job was progressing and after asking a question the supervisor ignores her and as she is walking away he mumbles "I should have never taken this job" (Ahhhh...so he does speak English after all). She calls me quite upset and of course mr. manners forgets his English again. I speak to Jose and he and I talk and agree on what was to be done and why my wife was so upset. (Mind you I did not find out the whole story until after arriving home from work on why my Wife was so upset). So our mr. manners and helper leave the house and sit out front telling Jose (who has to call me) that they don't know where she is and wont pay them. I call her and she is in her office and evidently they just walked out without even looking for her. She hands them the payment and they leave. She goes out a little while later and guess what...Mr. Manners threw down the coffee cup on the curb.

The job was done correctly and it looks good but Delfino needs to re-train their workers in better customer service. If I ever use them again...I'll take a day off work because Mr. Manners seems to have a problem with any woman who is not barefoot and pregnant.
