    DEBS WAY CLEANING
    I called Saturday, June 21st at 11 AM the message stated the call would be returned by then end of the day.  I received a call back the next day, but missed the call.  I called again June 24th and spoke with someone explaining what I would need.  They gave me a date past what I needed for the open house that was scheduled, so I said never mind, not a big deal.  She said give her a little time, she would see if they could get in for Friday, June 27th since the open house was June 29th.  She called me back at about 6:30 PM June 24th and started the conversation like we hadn't even spoken, she was returning my call from the 21st.  I explained we had spoken earlier that day and she was going to see if she could fit me in.  She told me that I must be confused and spoke with another cleaner (Debs was the only place I called based on Angie's reviews).  I went through my whole situation, and it was slowly coming back to her.  She then gave me the promise again to try to fit me in on Friday the 27th with a promise of a call back after working on the schedule.  I never heard from anyone again.  I understand I was calling on short notice, but we decided to hire someone last minute, this was not planned, I figured I would see if I could find someone.  I hired someone else who happily came in and did the 90 minutes of cleaning on short notice.

    She is punctual and flexible. I have had one other cleaner before, and Gabrielle does a much better job. If you want her to do something differently, you can just let her know and she will do it. She is professional and prefers to use natural cleaning products (which I also prefer) but will use something else if that is your preference. For example, she uses baking soda as a cleaning agent at my house and things look and smell great. She charges a fair price for quality service. You get what you pay for. I highly recommend Gabrielle.

    Bryan had to cancel the initial appointment because his assistant was in a car accident that day, so we rescheduled for July 2. I was still operating under the assumption that 2 people would arrive at 9:30 and clean my house, since I had not been advised of anything else beyond what we had originally agreed to. I telecommute and I am in conference calls all day.  Bryan had previously stated that he needed to review the cleaning supplies with me, because I have a lot of allergies, so when he didn't arrive by a few minutes to 10, I sent him a text because I had a call scheduled. He was very defensive- telling me that I was mistaken about a 9:30 start, that he never scheduled any visits before 10.  I asked him to come anyway.  I emphasized that I really wanted him to focus on the main rooms, the floors, the kitchen and the baths.  He and his assistant were onsite for about 3 hrs.  I had to break off a business call to pay him, so I didn't get a chance to look around.  I looked later that day-there were dust bunnies clearly visible under the couch, the area rugs hadn't been pulled back - just vacuumed.   Surfaces in the dining room that required nothing be moved were left undusted. The overall job was rushed and incomplete, even for the few rooms that he did. 
    Bryan's referrals gave him rave reviews.  My impression is of a fundamentally decent person who has way more business than he can handle.

    sWe very much appreciated the fact that Shelley and her sister are the only employees of the company.  It is nice to deal directly with the owner.  The ladies arrived early and got right to work.  We have a 2900 square foot home.  The stove, floors and bathrooms were all spotless after they left and all the furniture was dust free.  Shelley is very easy to deal with.  We would absolutiely consider using them again and count this special as an outstanding value.

    The experience started out fine enough. The owner made an appointment with me to look at the house and get an idea of the job's size. I walked her through the house and explained what I wanted cleaned and the types of products that I wanted used (I have natural hardwood floors, and I prefer eco-friendly products. Here is where it got weird. The owner stated that she could not give me a price quote because the price would be determined by the extent of the work. I thought it was odd, but I accepted it because she assured me that it wouldn't be more than $120. We then scheduled a time for the actual cleaning. On the morning of the cleaning, two women arrived at my door. I walked them through my house and showed them what I wanted done. I went into my home office and did work while they cleaned. They were pretty quiet, and worked dilligently. I checked up on the periodically and gave them some direction, but overall I let them do their job. After a few hours they informed me that they were done, and I thanked them and gave them a generous tip. I then left the house and went into work. Later that day, my wife came home and she and I went over the house. I noticed that there were black marks on my hardwood floors! These are brand new red oak floors, and there were no marks or scratches on the, before the "cleaning." But I found taht there were black marks all over the place. In the kitchen, I noticed that they did not move any of the small appliances when they worked on the counter tops. There were crumbs behind the toaster, and coffee grinds behind the coffee maker. Clearly, they wiped the counter down without moving the appliances. On the second floor, they wiped down the bath tub, but they didn't clean the shower curtain. We have a heavy duty shower curtain liner, and there was mildew and soap scum on it. I ended up spraying it down and cleaning it myself. A few days went by and we had not heard from the company about the bill. So I called them and left a message stating that there were some problems, and that I wanted a bill for their services. About two weeks later, I got a call back from them. I detailed my complaints, and asked for the owner to call me. That was more than a month ago. I still have not received a phone call from the owner, and I never received a bill. After all of this, I am not sure I would pay any bill that they sent me. How unprofessional for the owner to not even call me back after I had all of these problems! I am currently in the market for a new housecleaning service.... again.

    CLARKE SERVICES
    I set up an appointment a few weeks ago and confirmed the day/time the day before and also sent a list of what I needed cleaned (in priority order). They did not show for the appointment and I called but did not hear back. The next morning I e-mailed and asked what happened and was told a flat tire. Benefit of the doubt so I rescheduled for the next week. They showed on time and spent 2 hours (2 people) vacuuming, dusting some furniture (but not completely - the back of my dresser was dusty, but the front had been cleaned). The bathroom floors were not done as some wooden window blinds which I had indicated where a priority. She cleaned the kitchen and dining room floors to my satisfaction but left cleaner on the face of some of the kitchen cabinets. When I asked why some of the dusting was not done, she indicated it was too much work for what I was quoted. I had left a note telling her someone could call me and let me know if she needed more money to complete the work. Instead, they cleaned for 2 hours ($25/hour per person) and never communicated why the work I was expecting wasn't done. Even if she had called to explain it was too extensive for the time available and scheduled another time to come back, I would have completely understood. I feel there was a lack of professionalism and she felt my standards were too high.
