    DF Construction
I hired DF Construction to replace windows, siding, garage doors, gutters and my front door. This is the biggest single project Id ever considered and I was very apprehensive about it. I kept imagining all the things that could go wrong! Don Frame and his crew were wonderful to work with. From the very first estimate, Don took the time and made plenty of measurements to make sure that he knew exactly what I was hoping to get. He explained the options and suggested some alternatives that saved me quite a bit of money. Dons crew encountered challenges as they worked bitter cold being the worst but they always remained courteous, pleasant and professional. Every time something unexpected came up, Don or one of his crew explained the options and made sure I was happy with their solution. They cleaned up after themselves every day and always arrived on time. DF Construction did a fantastic job! I am very pleased with the final result and I wont hesitate to contact Don again for future projects.

    Bennett Contracting Inc
The 2 carpenters- Ric (no longer w/Bennett, I understand) and Julian- were great. They showed up every day, cleaned up behind themselves each time and were easy and fun to work with. The job took about 4 weeks longer than planned- 4 mos instead of 3. I have no idea why. It wasnt mentioned, but by week 10, it was clear to me it wasnt getting done on time. Each time I asked- So, how much longer? I got a list of things yet to be done. The take away answer in my head each time was as long as it takes. So, thats how long it took. I was tired of the disruption, but, since I liked the guys, it was tolerable. It cost what was estimated except for a few unforeseen issues, such as a buried hunk of concrete where they were digging the foundation (probably left over treasure from the addition the prior owner did) an add-on job (replace front porch deck) and, for some reason, an additional $500 for the oversized kitchen counter (which was the same size it started out to be- so, not sure why that was a surprise). Minor problems were dealt with and solved without much problem (E.G. kitchen faucet hole was drilled too close to the edge of the counter- water wouldve overshot and hit the floor when I swung the faucet from side-to-side), so, I ended up with a soap dispenser in that hole- way better than waiting for a do-over!). I was not happy with how the excavator covered his tracks, because he left some big ruts in the yard and didnt put the rock retaining wall on the street back very well. I believe several of the rocks were left in the path of the big trucks, got crushed, and couldnt be put back. The returned portion of the rock wall isnt even with the untouched part of the wall. There was about a 1 ft dip from one part of the yard to the temporary access road created and used by the trucks during the project. I covered some of that with 2 yards of soil I bought the following spring, but with all the dirt they carted away from digging the foundation and the equipment they have, I think they couldve done a better job of grading the soil and saved me $100 for top soil (and some back pain.) As I understand it, the excavator was not part of Bennett- that part was contracted out. The only other issue was the letters from the town a year after the job was begun (June 2018) because Bennett forgot to get the last inspection done at the completion of the job (Oct 2017). No huge problem in the end, but the letters threatening legal action if I didnt respond and needing to call the PM a few times to get updates and a final inspection date so long after the fact was frustrating. However, overall, it turned out well and Im happy with the results. And, from what Ive heard and seen from others, for the size of the job, it went pretty smoothly and they took care of A LOT of details.

    Hilltown Carpentry
Todd installed our new front door. Bob had come over several times before to talk to me and make sure the measurements were all accurate before I ordered the door. The door looks great. Todd put all new trim on the outside and inside and the carpentry looks perfect. Bob also installed a vinyl plank floor in my basement. It was a very large room, but he worked very efficiently and got the job done promptly. Floor looks really good. I like that Bob gets back to you when you contact him and he comes exactly when he says he will.

    Father & Son Home Improvements
Mark's great. I have used him for work before and he's responsive, punctual and professional. I don't have to worry about taking a day off from work because he shows up as promised. He responded to me immediately, gave me an estimate in a short turn around time. He ended up doing a little more plumbing work then planned. When he was working with the drainage line, several joints came apart. They had not been leaking but began to leak once he moved the drain line as he was fixing it.. He had told me it was okay to use the water after he had replaced several joints and when he went back into the basement to retrieve something he had left behind, he saw that water was leaking from another joint and immediately fixed it. I would not have known that unless I had gone into the basement for something and that would have been after he was gone. He also strapped and secured drainage lines and just let me know what he had done. If he sees something small while he is working on something else, he fixes it! I appreciate that attention to detail. He does excellent carpentry work as well. He repaired a split door frame for me during a past job, that had occurred as a result of my son having to break out of a room due to a faulty lock that locked him in. The frame had been split from top to bottom on the lock side. Not only does the frame look like nothing ever happened to it, Mark fixed the trim that had also been damaged on that side.

    Jamcore Home Improvements
It went very well. Jim provided a detailed, professional 4 page breakdown estimate of each part of the job, as I requested, with
amounts due for each part including deposits and the due dates.  He was the only contractor I interviewed (of several) who did this. This way there are no problems later; everything is very clear in the beginning.
Jim was always on time, and worked with the highest professional standards of workmanship, accuracy, competence, and helpfulness. I was completely comfortable with him and he is very friendly and personable, which is a big plus in my book. (Other workers I have had in the past had no inter-personal skills - sullen, grumpy, sloppy, unfriendly, etc.)  I asked Jim for his input on several decisions and his answers were always good ideas. Each day before leaving he cleaned up completely and put everything back in place. Everything was done on schedule with no delays. He even did some extra things I had not asked him to do but that needed to be done,  with my consent, such as extra wall insulation.
His workmanship is excellent. The new kitchen is beautiful thanks to Jim Cole. He pays careful attention to small details and remembered some things I didn't know were important. When the cabinets arrived from the manufacturer one set of pantry doors was cut slightly askew. He sent them back and ordered new ones. I didnt have to worry about anything with Jim doing the work.
He did some extra things I had not asked him to do as well,  with my consent, that needed to be done
I highly recommend Jim Cole  and Jamcore Home Improvements for your next job.

We decided to spruce up our kitchen. We also had a few little things to fix like the worn caulking in bathrooms and a bedroom door that was no longer latching.  Henry Gagnon came a few days after we called to give estimate.  He provided suggestions for the tiling and recommendations for where to go to pick out the tile.   We were very happy with the place, picked out the tile.  Henry came back right away to measure. He ordered the tiles.  About three weeks later they were here doing the work.  The area in kitchen had many outlets and other things to cut around.  They did a great job.

All the guys were very professional.  They cleaned up before leaving.  We are very happy with the work.  It looks like a new kitchen.

Great! He got everything he said he would get done, done. I am really pleased with how everything turned out. When I originally called, I expected to leave a message but he answered the phone while hanging Sheetrock! He came to the house and gave me an estimate when he said he would, the price was more than fair and he got on it right away when I explained I had a deadline.

    Suburban Construction Co
They helped us find a perfect match color-wise. They also gave us several options and prices from different manufacturers..
The installation took place during the time frame promised and two workers showed up on time to do the work.Because of the doors were over-sized, a third worker was sent to help with the actual installation while the other two did the prep work and finishing.
The work went extremely well. They took great effort to insure we were pleased with the finish work. Installers were polite and friendly. Mike, the owner, stopped by to see that everything was going according to plan. The site was left clean and all debris was removed.
We were very pleased with Suburban Construction from the time Mike came to provide us an estimate to the final installation. The quote was detailed and no down payment was required. Payment was requested at the satisfactory completion of the project.
We had several other quotes from other vendors some of whom had a "hard" sell , gimmick filled method of doing business. Mike and
Lou were straight forward with the scope of the project, the five year performance guarantee and price.

I've used them twice. They were excellent. I used them before in 2009. The owner is a really class guy. The estimate is always exactly what the job will cost. He had a great crew and they got the work done very quickly.

Alex quickly responded to a request for a quote. He appeared to me to be interested in doing a quality job with much attention to detail. After getting two other prices, I chose Alex and his crew for the job. He was very flexible around my schedule, and he even agreed to replace a skylight I had purchased. Alex and his crew did a very neat job, and didn't seem to mind that I climbed onto my roof numerous times to check their progress and throughness.
