    Bennett Contracting Inc
The 2 carpenters- Ric (no longer w/Bennett, I understand) and Julian- were great. They showed up every day, cleaned up behind themselves each time and were easy and fun to work with. The job took about 4 weeks longer than planned- 4 mos instead of 3. I have no idea why. It wasnt mentioned, but by week 10, it was clear to me it wasnt getting done on time. Each time I asked- So, how much longer? I got a list of things yet to be done. The take away answer in my head each time was as long as it takes. So, thats how long it took. I was tired of the disruption, but, since I liked the guys, it was tolerable. It cost what was estimated except for a few unforeseen issues, such as a buried hunk of concrete where they were digging the foundation (probably left over treasure from the addition the prior owner did) an add-on job (replace front porch deck) and, for some reason, an additional $500 for the oversized kitchen counter (which was the same size it started out to be- so, not sure why that was a surprise). Minor problems were dealt with and solved without much problem (E.G. kitchen faucet hole was drilled too close to the edge of the counter- water wouldve overshot and hit the floor when I swung the faucet from side-to-side), so, I ended up with a soap dispenser in that hole- way better than waiting for a do-over!). I was not happy with how the excavator covered his tracks, because he left some big ruts in the yard and didnt put the rock retaining wall on the street back very well. I believe several of the rocks were left in the path of the big trucks, got crushed, and couldnt be put back. The returned portion of the rock wall isnt even with the untouched part of the wall. There was about a 1 ft dip from one part of the yard to the temporary access road created and used by the trucks during the project. I covered some of that with 2 yards of soil I bought the following spring, but with all the dirt they carted away from digging the foundation and the equipment they have, I think they couldve done a better job of grading the soil and saved me $100 for top soil (and some back pain.) As I understand it, the excavator was not part of Bennett- that part was contracted out. The only other issue was the letters from the town a year after the job was begun (June 2018) because Bennett forgot to get the last inspection done at the completion of the job (Oct 2017). No huge problem in the end, but the letters threatening legal action if I didnt respond and needing to call the PM a few times to get updates and a final inspection date so long after the fact was frustrating. However, overall, it turned out well and Im happy with the results. And, from what Ive heard and seen from others, for the size of the job, it went pretty smoothly and they took care of A LOT of details.

they made a mistake when they poured the concrete but they came back and tore it up the next day and fixed it. I am happy on how things came out overall, been getting a lot of great comments about how good our house looks

    783-SEAL, 783-PAVE (Smith's - Latham, NY)
Smith's 783-PAVE did a great job. They removed my old driveway and installed a new one. It looks great! They even went out of their way to call me and let me know that a neighbor also needed a new driveway and that I could save money if we had it done on the same day, which we did. They also added small details that I requested at no extra charge. They were nice to work with, trust-worthy, did great work, and i would recommend them highly.

    Mark The Handyman
He was very very good. He knew what he was doing. He was very efficient. He did everything timely. He was just very good and my neighbors were surprised at the price that he gave me. I would use him again in the future.

    Stone Tech of Albany
I called and spoke to Vinnie, the owner.  He came within a few days for an estimate.  We agreed upon rate, colors, layout.   I called to confirm him doing the work, and he advised me the first date available was 6 weeks away.  I called at 5 weeks, to confirm again.  I spoke with him 3 more times, to confirm work, and dates.  On the date that demo of existing sidewalk was to start, he never showed up, and didn't call.  I called to see where he was, whereupon he advised that the demo was larger than he had anticipated, and needed different equipment.  He also told me that the original price would now be 50% higher.  I told him that there was no way that I had the budget for such an increase.  Now summer is more than half over, and I have nothing even started!

Concrete Raising Of Upstate New York
Mike came to the house after the request was called in early spring. He was pleasant and professional and took all the measurements and reviewed surface choices with us. He left me feeling confident in his company's ability to do the work. I was then in touch with Jim to request a contract and referrals. He told me he had to gather them and never delivered on this request. We were very disappointed in this company.

    Hardscape Solution
We had the company tear up our old cement entryway to our home and install a new stamped concrete one. The job went fine and we were satisfied with the way it looked. It has since become very faded and has a large crack. I don't have an issue with this so much as the fact that no matter how many times I call, I don't get a response back. Over the past two summers, I have left messages about having it resealed and asking if it can be restained. I never got an answer and just gave up. This summer I have called 6 times!!!!!! Finally, Ben returned the call. He told me he would pass it on to Mike and he would get back to me. Here it is, three weeks later and no call. I wonder how people stay in business when they treat customers this way. I would NEVER use them again based on this. I feel like they might do a decent job, but you can't rely on them for help in the future.

Creative Stone Work By Stone Wall Masonry Inc
Ric the owner/foreman promptly responded to my call and provided an estimate.  I originally wanted the work done in the Fall, but when the early October snow came I called Ric and postponed the work until the Spring.  Ric was very accommodating and when I called in March to reschedule the job work started within one week and was completed in the projected 2.5 days.  Ric and his crew began promptly at 7:30 AM and worked continuously and efficiently with absolutely no down time. The entire crew was helpful and courteous.  They provided the "custom" design that we requested and the finished work was professionally done and of excellent craftsmanship.  The crew cleaned up the work area each night and left the worksite clean when the work was complete.

    A A Affordable Concrete Inc
It was a difficult job that required quite a bit of labor to get the old concrete out lots of cutting and jack hammering. Travis was professional and knowledgable, easy to work with and most importantly, trustworthy. He reinstalled the new patio tying it in to the house foundation with reinforced rebar. He had to jack up the overhang to install new 4x6 posts. He followed through on everything he said he would do and finished the job leaving it clean no trace of old concrete. The job looks great! Would not hesitate to recommend Travis and AA Affordable concrete.

    Pride Painting
Overall, the job went very well!  Parting with over $3000 is hard these days, especially when I know I'll have to do it all again in a few years.  But Pride Painting did a lot, and did it very well, in a timely manner.  I received three bids, and theirs was right in the middle.  They went above and beyond, however, and even "threw in" a couple of extras, painting my front and back doors.  I know they worked hard and I got a very good job - my house is beautiful!
