    Classic Construction Group
I hired German Ruiz, Classic Construction Group in January 2018 to start work on a charming, fixer upper I purchased in Larchmont, NY. The house had great bones but was outdated from top to bottom, including painted faux painted panel walls. I asked Classic Construction to gut and expand the kitchen by knocking down a wall and moving another, redo a bathroom, sheet rock walls, replace ALL window and door casings, replace doors, create custom radiator cover, tile work and address a structural concern. The work is superb and meticulous. The tile work and casings are perfectly even - no small feat in a 100 year old tudor house. The work was so well done that the kitchen cabinet supplier complimented his work. His workers were nice and polite and my new neighbors expressed that they were very friendly and neat. The base project was on budget any overages were due to my finish selection and a missing beam not indicated by my architect. His estimate was pretty close. The time was a little longer than preferred due to permits and suppliers - but I have yet to hear of a renovation project without a frustration. Personally, German is great to deal with and very personable. An enjoyable experience! I will definitely hire again and I am quite spoiled by the relatively smooth process.

Terrible. I took time to walk the inspector through my house.  He never sent a proposal.  Seemed more interested in doing the NY state energy assessment than in helping me insulate my house.  Would not recommend.

Initially, it seemed fine.  The foam insulation in the basement- - especially around the rim joist, was very successful.  The real problems came with the cellulose, which they spray into cavities.  It's very fine stuff, and it got sprayed, all right, and ended up on the first floor, on our bookshelves, everywhere.
In addition, they neglected to turn the boiler off while they did their work.  As a result, a month later the boiler shut down, because some of the cellulose had been pulled into the chimney and blocked it.  That was cleaned out by our furnace people.
Then, in the spring, when we wanted to turn the AC on, it turned out that the circulating unit (in the basement) was also clogged and had to be cleaned out.
Last straw was when they were backing out of our garage and knocked down half our dogwood tree.  They were honest about that, and we were able to wire it back up (using our gardeners), and I'm pleased that the dogwood seems to be all right, amazingly enough.
Needless to say, I wouldn't use them again, nor would I recommend them.

    Prime Home Improvement
Overall, we are disappointed with this contractor. Our agreement started back in the fall of 2011 and should have been completed by the end of October; however, we are now over six months into this, and we have yet to have closure on this project. We are still left with tiles that were cracked in our shower from the workers that blew insulation into our house in September, almost six months ago. Our bathroom faucet is still shut off because it has not been properly fixed, though they have charged us for it. The railings for the hallway stairs had to be replaced due to faulty workmanship the first time around. (They were replaced and are solid now.) Yet, the most disappointing part has been the front railings of our porch, which are still unfinished. They have had to re-do the front railing multiple times for various reasons, and they are still not complete. It was clear the the first installation was done by someone who had no idea how to install the materials. Just when we thought they were getting close to being complete, we learned that materials used on the front porch were from a discontinued line, so that the railings can never be finished because the remaining parts do not exist any longer. (We learned this on our own after having to research on-line why the wrong materials kept being sent to our house. The contractor did not volunteer this information.) To make matters worse, the contractor is no longer responsive to our calls. We initially hired this contractor because of his outstanding ratings on Angie's List, but we they have failed to live up to their reputation. We are now wondering if the job will ever be finished. On a positive note, the painter they employed was excellent, the window installation went fine, and the electrical work was completed without incident. However, I cannot in good conscious recommend this contractor for anything other than their painter.

    ***March 16 2012 UPDATE***
We have amicably resolved the issues with Prime.  They have refunded the cost of the porch railings and installation and we agreed we would find another contractor that is more familiar with the products for that application.  As Gino indicates, he has been to our house mornings, evenings and weekends to discuss / resolve the issue.  He remained professional and courteous throughout that resolution.

My Realtor faxed the results of the inspection to Brad, who promptly e-mailed me a proposal, detailing exactly the work to be done, and the cost. I accepted the proposal, because the firm came highly recommended. Builders arrived and worked, until all jobs were completed as agreed. If anything was not done to my satisfaction, it was corrected immediately. For example, I didn't like one of the replacement dimmer switches, so they changed it. I had some under cabinet lights in the kitchen that needed replacing. The old style was no longer available, and the new ones didn't match. They worked on getting a comparable fixture and made modifications so that the new lights matched the old. I am very happy with Brad Windon and his crew of responsible and responsive workers, and I would call them again, and recommend them to anyone who needs repairs done quickly and efficiently for a reasonable price.

That was fine.  I didn't go ahead with any of the work.  They did a thorough investigation of the attic and gave me a game plan.  So that one worked out fine.
