AClimate DoctorsWe moved into our 5 yr. old home in Oct. and were outraged at our electric costs! When there was a special for a $90 energy audit, I knew it was for me. For the energy audit, Ben arrived on time, calling to let me know expected arrival. Climate Doctors gave you an actual appointment time, not a two hour window! He was very thorough and explained WHY to my many questions! Something important to me. I feel he went above and beyond the audit -- going over what I would be able to repair myself, how much insulation should be there as opposed to how much ACTUALLY was there (only 5-6" in some spots of the attic). Very professional and definitely knew what he was talking about. My husband was concerned it would be a big sale pressure to buy a new furnace or expensive fixes. The estimate was reasonable and no pressure to have any work performed. We hired them to add additional insulation in our attic (now 18"), repair loose duct work on the furnace (that's where the heat went this winter), reseal parts of the furnace that had not been fixed by previous homeowner, add a cover to the attic stairwell and clean the dryer vent. Already you can feel the difference of the increased insulation over my daughter's room. Great job and great company to work with.- Gene and Shelly S.

AAffordable Solutions by BrianIt went well. Brian came out on 7/23 and looked at the damage. He had a tablet and input what needed to be done as he looked at everything, then went home and emailed me an estimate of $2895. Another contractor had come in with a lower bid, but I was more impressed with Brian's professionalism. The other contractor also did not provide a contract (he said he would write one up if I wanted - it seems like a given that a customer would want a contract, and it made me nervous that I would have to ask for one). Brian said he could do the work in August. Brian and three workers started work on 8/21. They found more damage to the walls and beams than had previously been seen, and I gave the OK to do whatever was necessary to fix the problem. Brian was here off and on, but the three workers seemed very capable on their own, and I think they did a good job. They were here from 8am-4pm on 8/21 and 8/22, then one worker came back on 8/23 to finish painting everything. On 8/24, the three workers came back to put my deck furniture and BBQ back on my deck. I received an amended invoice and the total was $4300. I was surprised that the price had increased that much, but the work done was good - and hopefully there will be no more leaks from my deck. I did receive a 10% senior discount on that amount.- Stacey H.

Our house was built in the early 1900's and very little is level or straight as far as the walls and ceilings are concerned. After they finished hanging the Sheetrock and taping and muddying, the upstairs looked like a new home. There work was done correctly and they consulted me at every step to ensure it was done the way i wanted it. Due to the humidity the mud of the drywall tool longer to dry and spilled over to a second day to finish, but they were more than happy to get it done right than rush it.- Ryan M.

AAffordable Solutions by BrianCOULD NOT BE HAPPIER! We have had every possible issue with contractors building our vacation house ranging from stolen deposits, incomplete work, work not done correctly, one guy even cut a big hole in the floor leaving the house open to the elements and never came back to finish his work, pick up his tools, or patch the hole! We built a vacation house about 5 hours from our home so managing the project from so far away proved to be challenging. We hired 3 round of contractors before we found Brian, and the 2 that actually showed up, did enough work to make it look like they were making progress but they never finished anything! After several weeks of contractors dodging phone calls and not responding to emails we found Brian using Angie's list and he was quick to return calls and he followed up with an estimate promptly after looking at the house. Brian showed up on time, stayed on budget, got all of the work done and the cabin was cleaned up when they were done. I relayed my frustrations about the prior contractors that had worked on our cabin and Brian made several offers that put my mind at ease. 1~ he didn't ask for any money up front. I'm not sure if this is something he can offer for all projects but I appreciated that he was flexible about this. 2~ He called me nearly everyday to confirm the work that had been completed, get clarification and approval before he purchased any big ticket items. 3~ He sent pictures of the work they had completed every day to show us the progress they were making. 4~The cabin was clean when they were done, it would have been reasonable for there to be drywall dust on everything given all of the work that had been done but they were really good about cleaning up. We noticed something was a little off with the plumbing for the drain in the tub so we called Brian and he had someone out there the next day to get it fixed. His employee that came out to fix the plumbing was very polite and professional. I would highly recommend Brian's company to anyone looking for a contractor. The quality of their work is terrific and his willingness to communicate with the customer distinguishes him from the rest of the contractors out there. Thanks! Josh- Elizabeth B.

He gave me a date and a price, and as the date approached he actually called to say he could do the job sooner! I was surprised & pleased that he showed up exactly at 8am as promised, he & his crew got right to work & did the whole job in 1 day. The job came in at just $100 over the estimate, as at the last minute I asked him to do some additional wiring. I have more work to be done in the spring, and am planning to hire Brian again. I felt he was completely trustworthy, and his price is very reasonable. I would recommend him to anyone.- cynthia m.

AI had Energy Savers give me an estimate for blown insulation and replacement windows for my home. While I ended up going with another company for the insulation, it was a narrow choice as both impressed me greatly! The Energy Savers representative was very friendly and informative. Energy Savers is a member of NY state's program to offer free energy audits to help homeowners save energy and money. I didn't ask for an energy audit, but the representative took a peek at a few key things anyway and took a few moments to talk with me about them. For the insulation, his conclusions and pricing were very similar to the other contractor I ended up going with. For the windows, he gave me easily the best pricing, for the highest quality product. I told him at the time that the windows were further down my list of work I wanted done, but when I'm ready to tackle them, I do intend to go with Energy Savers.

FI had a gas leaked national grid said to call a repair service. I called on a Tuesday, said they’d come over on Wednesday to fix my valve. Came over charged me $192 and didn’t fix the valve. Then said they’d come over the next day and fix the valve. They didn’t come I called and they said the valve hasn’t arrived yet and no ones coming and could give me an estimate on when. I have been without gas for three days, No one called to cancel , and I got charged $192 for them to basically tell me what national grid told me. I would steer clear away from them.

AI just had my house raised almost 3 feet because of past flooding along Lake Ontario. I hired Josh (AB Capital) to foam underneath the house and add insulation in my attic. The morning Josh and his wife Stephanie arrived, my pipes were frozen. They created a temporary barrier for me, set up a propane heater to blast warm air in the temporary enclosure, and thawed my pipes so I would have water. We rescheduled the insulation installation for the next morning, but again, my pipes froze overnight, so he set up something more sophisticated and my pipes quickly thawed. He and Stephanie then went to work in freezing temperatures to do the job I hired them to do, and I couldn't be happier. Last night, my floor was warm, my furnace was able to cycle on and off normally, and my second floor temperature was finally comfortable (not too hot), AND I had water in the morning. I'm so happy they did this job. Josh is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and quick responding. What a great company!

AVery satisfied with work: clean, professional, finished off closet ceiling so old hatch no longer visible. Showed us photos of attic as work progressed so we could see what was done (installation of baffles for proper ventilation of attic, built up walls around back of ceiling lights to keep new insulation out of fixtures, depth of new insulation). We expect that HVAC costs will go down measurably, & that ceiling condensation during cold weather (bathrooms & adjacent bedroom) will go away. (Did not rate price because 2nd contractor didn’t show up to provide estimate as basis for comparison.)

AG&J put a new roof on for me a few years ago. Strong winds did some damage to one side of the roof and eaves. I left a message for Paul the owner to see what i needed to do. The next day I came home and it was fixed! One call and boom it was done !
