The provider replaced a hot air propane furnace that they installed in 1998 with a new Carrier propane furnace.  We also have central air conditioning they installed in 2002.  After the new furnace installation, the fan on the air conditioner kept cycling on and off. We called them to come take a look and the service person told us they had wired it wrong and fixed the problem  The fan stopped cycling.  This past week we attempted to use the air conditioner for the first time and it wouldn't come on.  We called them to come back and the service technician said it was a very poor wiring job, asked if I had done it myself, which my wife said no it was your company.  He re-wired everything and the air conditioner works, but now the fan keeps recycling on and off again.  We have turned off both the heat and cooling at the thermostat and the fan still keeps cycling on and off.  It has been doing it all night and we now smell an ozone smell down cellar and are worried about something burning out.  I called to have them come back today and they said they are booked until Monday.  I told them this can't wait until Monday and want them here today.  The lady that answers their phone said she would speak with the service manager and call me back.  She called back and said that their general manager doesn't think they are capable of satisfying us and that we should call someone else.  They won't come back.

My wife and I recently purchased a home in the Syracuse area and were aware that the heating system needed to be replaced. Since we live in Houston, Texas, we felt this must be our first priority. We checked Angies List and based on the reviews selected Cooney Air Condition and Heating. Prior to travelling to Syracuse I spoke with Ron Stevens at Cooney to review the options. Ron was very helpful and provided a ballpark estimate based on the information available.
We met Ron late October for an on-site inspection of the existing heating system and again the following afternoon at the Cooney office to review his proposal. We approved his recommendations and agreed on the start date. The installation both started and completed on schedule and the basement was left in immaculate condition. The final cost was exactly as quoted with the exception of the upgraded Internet connected Thermostats I requested.
The people at Cooney are professionals who know their business, which is comforting when youre 2000 miles away. I would also like to compliment Rob, the installer; he is an artist with copper tubing!

I chose Holbrook based on Angie's list reviews and the fact that they are local. Estimator came on time and was knowledgeable; he made a second visit to answer my further questions. We decided on installing a/c and not adding a heat pump (our existing heat is oil). It did take my initiating a few calls and emails to get a final corrected proposal and to confirm the date for installation, but this was at the height of a heat wave and I am sure the office and crews were over-worked. Because the admin had technical problem emailing the document, one of their employees dropped it off personally. All interaction was courteous and accommodating. I had to ask about the Angie's list senior discount, which they did apply and is reflected in the cost of the work seen on this review. Holbrook installed a Rheem air conditioner and connected it to our existing furnace, adapted the electric panel to fit breakers, added four runs. Our house is over 140 years old and had no ducts to the second floor. The job also required new register/return in living room. Holbrook clearly explained that they would not know specifics for running ducts to second floor until they got into the job. As it turned out, running ducts to one of the bedrooms ran into complications between cellar and first floor; the crew explained the situation and options, and I chose to not do that room (ductwork passing through the first floor room would have been more extensive than it was worth for me). Despite it's being late on a Friday afternoon, the crew engaged with me for quite a while in trying to find alternatives for running the ducts, and also described other a/c alternatives for that second floor bedroom. They cleaned up inside and outside around the compressor. I recently had Holbrook do annual maintenance on a/c at my other house. I was equally satisfied with the work done at that time.

From first call to the end, dealing with Ron Stevens, Jr. (the Systems Specialist at Cooney's) and the other very talented men, we felt confident that they had the knowledge and skill to do the job. We have experienced many reactions of (uh, we've never seen one like this before) in the past from various repair folks in this old house. That was not the case here. They had seen this type of boiler before and could replace it, although it would be a big job. Everyone who came was pleasant and professional. Rugs were put down and clean-up carried out as promised.
We will use Cooney's to keep tabs on our new boiler in the future. We are without reservation in recommending them.

Came home on a Sunday night in mid-March to find that our furnace was not working. Since their yellow page ad said they were available 24/7 and they were not far from our house, we called them. Their answering machine said that if we did not get a call back in 30 minutes, we should call again and be transferred to another extension. We did that and left a second message. It is now 3 days later and we never received a call from anyone. (We had a different contractor come over the next day.)
