  • This was the most entertaining move I've ever been involved in. The gentlemen from Man With a Van were unbelievable. They arrived right on time and went immediately to work. 3 guys moved everything out of my apartment (this included numerous large pieces of furniture and about 50 boxes) to my new home in exactly 4 hours. They were mindful of my belongings and everything arrived at my home intact. They even pointed out pieces of furniture that were scratched or damaged from previous moves, just as a precaution. My final price was exactly what I was quoted 4 weeks prior to my move and I appreciated there were no surprises. The 3 gentlemen who moved me were personable, had a sense of humor and ultimately, were a pleasure to work with. I recently purchased my forever home and do not anticipate needing these services in the future. However, I would highly recommend this company to any of my family or friends to assist with their moving needs!

  • The move went very well. Jordan and his crew were able to work with my schedule to get everything out of my apartment and carefully packed into one room of my home, which was still under renovation at the time. They were very careful, professional, punctual, and an all around pleasure to work with. If I have to move again (I hope not!) I will definitely call on them.

  • They came out and they gave an estimate for the cost after I had spoken with an assessor that gave a preliminary estimate. The office was very accurate and gave correct estimations. The movers were on time and were very professional. They were friendly, and I felt comfortable with them in my home. They got done much faster than they thought they would, and I can say that they did a wonderful job. There was no breakage and everything came through in tip top shape.

  • I went with Bee Line on the strength of the Angie's List reviews. However, I probably should have given more weight to the reviews that discussed communications issues around the move.
While the move was ultimately successful, it wasn't stress-free. It cost substantially less than using a major van line, though. If price is more important than worry-free, Bee Line is a good deal.
As others have said, Brendan communicates primarily via e-mail where possible. Unfortunately, during my move, he was having trouble with his Gmail account and his iPhone. This lead to delays in communication. Also, there were a few issues that probably could've been resolved with less stress in a short phone call instead of an e-mail back-and-forth. In any event, if you're not comfortable communicating mainly by e-mail, you may prefer another provider.
Brendan came out and did a walk-through. This was a large job for them; they specialize in smaller moves, particularly in and around New York City. There was some confusion over how many trucks would be needed, how long it would take to load and unload, and the exact dates of the move.
There was some minor damage to our furniture. Brendan seems pretty good at loading a truck, but he wasn't present for most of our move. When he was present, he had his guys partially repack a truck to solve some issues. We can't help but wonder if our one table that was badly damaged from excess weight placed on top of it would've made it if Brendan had been loading. They did, however, offer to make it right.
At our destination, we were unloading to an already-occupied and furnished house. Our boxes were labelled destinations and color-coded duct tape: yellow for the outbuilding, pink for the basement, regular for the first floor. Not everything wound up where it was supposed to, despite this and our best efforts at supervision.
The crew was very courteous and helpful, and quite accommodating. One thing: While the dog Kia is a sweetheart and was no problem for us, I have to take some professionalism points for bringing a dog along with no warning to the homeowner. If there had been allergies, phobias, or hazardous conditions, it could have been a Problem.
Compared to other movers I have used in the past, Bee Line was better than the big-name national van lines, but not as good as Paul Arpin Van Lines (who handled a corporate-relocation move of mine).
I would recommend Bee Line to Gen Y and Millennials (e.g., texting-saavy) for smaller jobs, and they're probably quite good within their forté of NYC moves. For larger, more complex moves, they may not be the best choice.

  • I needed to move with only about 2 weeks advance notice, and Beeline was the only moving company that even got back to me. They moved me from Kingston, NY to Brooklyn on a Thursday, and everything went according to plan. My belongings were already packed beforehand and were in storage, so Beeline did not do any packing for me. They loaded everything in Kingston and unloaded on the other end. Also, I forgot to present my Angie's List coupon, but they reimbursed me the 5 percent after the fact, which was really nice.
A couple of things to note: Beeline charges a flat fee for NYC moves. If you want to pay for your move with a credit card, you will have to set something up with them in advance. I was unaware of this until it came time to pay. Fortunately I was able to write a check.
All in all, I had a good moving experience and would use them again.

  • I contacted this company via their online moving estimate form and by phone. No one responded to the online form (even though they say on the site that someone will contact you quickly), and no one ever answered the phone.

  • The moving crew arrived promptly at the pick up location. In fact, they were so prompt that they called me ahead of time to see if we could move the pick up time ahead by over an hour. While that didn't work with my schedule, they were right on time and extremely efficient. I still had a few things to pack and that's the only thing that slowed them down. I recommend having everything ready to go when Man with a Van arrives. They loaded and unloaded the truck quickly and professionally. Nothing was damaged. I am very pleased with their work.

  • Filled out the contact form on their website; got an email bounced back that the destination address doesn't exist. The bounce message came from Google Mail.
Given a previous reviewer's comments about difficulty in contacting McCollister's via phone, this is especially worrying. It tells me that they don't have a dedicated email infrastructure of their own, and they aren't maintaining their website. If they're not minding these details in this day and age, what other details will they miss? I'm a computer professional; this sort of thing generally translates to sloppy service in my experience.
I'll pass on getting a quote from McCollister's. If they make it difficult to even start the process of handing them money for services, they obviously don't want the money that badly.

  • All communication with Dave before the move was great. He responded to messages in a timely manner. He was able to acommodate me when I needed to change the date of the move.
The crew of 3 arrived on time, and loaded up the truck very quickly.
Two of then were very professional, but the third one, although he was a good mover, had a sense of humor I didn't appreciate. For example, when I introduced myself, he pretended he didn't speak. Then he did, and it was a big joke. For me, moving is a very stressful time, and his smart alecky behavior, which continued, did not help matters.
When they were unloading the boxes at the house, it became apparent that there would not be enough room in the house to have all the boxes in there and be able to move around, so they suggested putting some in the back of the garage, which was a good idea and I agreed to. I told them which ones to put there. The problem came later when I saw that they had really not paid attention to which boxes they put where. I saw a box that was clearly labeled fragile, on the bottom of a pile. Also saw a plastic tub with very heavy boxes on top of it.
This may sound bad, but they did work quickly and, except for the above mentioned, knew what they were doing. I would use them again, with a little more supervision.

  • We have had good luck with Allways moving..  Their charges depend on the weight and volume.  They moved the entire contents of our farm to our current location.  They were very attentive, and careful.  They never broke a thing, and they did a really good job!
